I find that Nagini's origin story is the most sad and cruel of the entire franchise, we know how here story ends but seeing that eventually she had no choice but to turn into an snake without been able to communicate with anyone, except Voldemort, been trapped in her own body, growing knowing there was no hope or cure, used again and again by people with different agendas. Her story is the saddest.
And on top of all that she was made into a horcrux, terrible fate
she can turn into a human but not for long remember Bathilda Bagshot and how it turned into nagini in HP 7 part 1?
@@xenolucifer4043 wrong. once the malidicus curse sets in and they become trapped in their animal form, they never again turn back into their human form, Nagini didn't turn into bathilda in the deathly hollows, voldemort used dark magic to hide nagini INSIDE of bathilda's body after he killed her. Nagini was trapped in snake form forever once the curse took effect.
I love that line about Grindelwald not understanding the nature of simple things. He sees them as too insignificant to bother with learning how they work. This was Sauron's downfall too.
Yeah but that's bullshit, Grindelwald is not like that, they made him too much like Voldemort but they're 2 different kind of villain
@@Xorrin No, it's not. Dumbledore was the same way before his sister was killed. It was only then that Dumbledore changed and began to understand how important the nature of simple things are. Grindelwald did not learn this lesson until much later, after his duel with Dumbledore. At this point in time in the films, this duel had not yet occurred.
This movie was the Empire Strikes Back of HP films. It's so dark and serious and emotional. I was crying the entire last 30 minutes. So good.

Johnny Depps portrayel as Gellert Grindalwald is so spot on. I wish he was still playing this character if it wasn't for the court case last year. JK Rowling stood by him and she didn't want to lose Johnny. It were a shock Queenie joining the dark wizard at the end. This was my favourite of the two. The Secrets of Dumbledores good too.
I think it's awesome how, although this second film was the least liked on release, most reactors like it the most out of the three. I love that. I do hope they keep making these eventually.

Sadly (as I was so amped to see the famed duel) I’m pretty sure they confirmed they aren’t going to finish the series or make the last two movies, which is a little tragic since I think the characters they brought were so strong, but they maybe got lost in the mix a little… I remember thinking after the 3rd that I had trouble remembering specific cool things that happened in the movie unlike the first two where there were some super memorable scenes, either comical with the animals or creative battles, again using the animals… that facet felt like it started to fall to the wayside to make more room for the Dumbledore narrative, and the series probably suffered as a whole since the people that were there for the animal shenanigans felt the narrative pulling away from that, and the people there for Dumbledore still weren’t getting as much of him actually doing things as they’d expected or wanted… I remember after the first one when they said 4 more, I was skeptical it would actually happen because casual people just lose steam and get overwhelmed by that much narrative investment… they probably could’ve just made fantastic beasts a trilogy, and the Grindelwald stuff a solo outing or miniseries
@@EarnestEgregore Nothing is confirmed by the studio, it's just heavily implied given the radio silence and pivot into the new HP reboot series on Max. But given the nature of the time jumps (the Duel happens in 1945), they could definitely bring it back several years down the line, if interest is there. Now I do agree that these probably should've been two separate film series, but I also respect the ambition and doing this multi-pronged 5 film saga. But you're right. It was too much for casual audiences, and frankly too much material for 2-hour movies. But I'm still happy with the films we have, and I think they will gain respect as the years go on. Universal next park will have a new land themed to Paris from this film, so that's still exciting.
@@SnoTangerine didn't know about the universal park tie-in, that's pretty cool... I was super sad when it looked like they wouldn't continue since overall I really enjoyed them and there was more good than bad for me personally.

04:18...if u watch the climax act of fb1 closely we can see a tiny part of obscurial escaping and Newt staring at it (right after it seems to get destroyed). Fun fact: there is an alternate opening scene for fb2 in which we can see that tiny bit of obscurial travelling back to his foster home, gaining its human form again, finding his adoption papers and later on getting into a ship that take him to paris.
Newt, Eddie Redmayne, is seriously my favorite actor, so versatile! He won an award for his portrayal of Stephen Hawkins in The Theory of Everything, and I don’t have Netflix but he plays a nurse who was a serial killer, a true story. I’ve seen the trailer and I’ll have to watch it at some point!😊 it’s called The Good Nurse.
They are both good! The good nurse is a crazy true very sad story! He’s good in it!
This one & the next one are 2 of the most visually beautiful films I think I’ve ever seen ✨

I think this is the best of the fantastic beasts movies even tho there is alot wrong with the lore and the timelines in this movie i can overlook that because the whole story that it builds towards is interesting and especially with the dumbledores and so on. But in the third movie its like they forgot all the seeds planted in this one and just did a 180 storywise and nothing makes sense.. you will see for yourself. the movies look good and have music and the feel is good but the story is just so inconsistent and makes no sense.. I just hope they learned from these movies and the new TV show and future moveis in the universe will be better :)

More connection to our favorite characters in this one, but also to not so well known ones like Nagini and Nicolas Flamel. Jude Law is perfect for Dumbledore (I sadly didn't recognize him the first time). Wish they could have kept Johnny Depp. Newt is the best in this series for me. I was curios about his lack of eye contact on occasion and wondered if the actor was autistic. Turns out it was a character choice, which I find interesting. What amazing animals and affects. Not the same impact on me as HP, I lose attention sometimes, buuuuut still enjoyable. I do like #2 better as well.
I absolutely love this movie! I don’t care what anyone else says, because it doesn’t matter what they say. As a proud Potterhead myself, the Fantastic Beasts movies make me ecstatic! I love the way we get to see all the other wizarding communities around the world. I love the music, effects, and the acting! I will always be a proud lover of this awesome movie!
P.S: One of the reasons why I love this movie is Theseus Scamander. He is so handsome!! He stole the show, ✨SLAYED✨ and ate leaving no crumbs behind! 💅💅💅

(not so) fun fact: McGonagall was most likely written into this movie purely for fan service. while it is not really confirmed which year she was actually born in, common opinion says it was in 1935 - about 8 years after the events of this movie.
Movie verse canon is different than book canon.
@@houstonhughes184 Actually, movie & book canon are only different when considering the eight Harry Potter films vs the books. The Fantastic Beasts movies are mostly considered book canon because they're NOT adaptions of existing books and the Fantastic Beasts screenplays are written by JKR. The only time something from the FB movies would not be considered book canon is when something was changed from the screenplay. A good example of this would be the color of the protective ring of fire that Grindelwald conjured. In the film the fire is blue but in the screenplay it's described as black fire.

A TV adaptation? I think I read that a few months ago and they better not! That would be like making a cartoon of Lord of the Rings which I think I noticed or the Hobbit. I just can’t imagine getting anywhere near as great as the HP movies in a reboot!
@@melissabrooke1146 Yeah they just officially announced it. Their intention seems to be a faithful adaptation of the series, where each book is a season of TV. In theory that sounds awesome, to me at least haha, I just hope the execution lives up to everyones expectations.

This shows just how evil Voldemort was. He took Nagini who was once a young kind hearted woman and twisted and warped her into the monster we see in Harry Potter.

You can cast spells without speaking them aloud, it requires more concentration. Removing his tongue was to avoid manipulation, but it was already too late.
In fact Tom Riddle was about four months old during the timeline of the story ! His mother gave birth to him on the steps of the orphenage before dying of a borken heart. (T R was born the 31st of December 1926). Sad story is that Merope Gaunt enchanted Tom Riddle Sr (a Muggle as you remember) and after some time, thinking that he would really be in love with her, she lifted it. He wasn't in love and he left her. She was already pregnant and had barely enough strength to give birth to the baby before she died.
There seems to be retcon of Pr McGonagall's birth date. She was supposed to be born in 1935 (after the story) but here she seems to already be teaching there in about the 1910s... So in the movie, she must be about the same age as Dumbledore born in 1881. In HP books Dumbledore was a Transfiguration teacher (in the flash back in Chamber of Secrets) but I think that as brilliant as he is, he must have had the possibility to teach many subjects (except for Divination which he never studied as he says himself in Order of the Phoenix book).
Dumbledore and Grindelwald were also lovers (or so Dumbledore thought, Grindelwald used Albus's feelings to get him to join him in the quest to Wizards supremacy).
Umbreakable Vow is a spell, the Blood Pact is the same kind of thing but with a physical object that none of the makers can break, theoritically, it's the Horcrux version of an Umbreakable Vow.
Side note: Flamel is a big deal in French magical society in HP verse, he's one of the founders of the Beauxbatons Academy with his wife Pernelle.
The Chinese beast has the abilty to warp between places, one warp jump can reach up to 1500 miles ! Cool thing is it bypasses any security measure.
Sadly the next one will be the last, leaving us on a LITTERAL cliffhanger ! Damn you producers !

The French woman who is always at Grindelwald's side is from Rosier family, pureblood French family that also had family members in England, for example Evan Rosier who was... Voldemort's death eater

And 2 things about that Hogwarts scene :
Dumbledore was teaching transfiguration before he became headmaster, so I don't know why they made him teach DADA here

So they messed it up big time, but I guess it was done for pure nostalgia and in hope that most of viewers won't notice that
What was weird though was Dumbledore and Grindelwald only spent about two months together, but the two canonically became lovers in that time. Two-months that all it took 😂 It’s never been featured in books or movies about the Wizarding World, but J.K. Rowling promises that there was “a sexual dimension” to Albus Dumbledore and Gellert Grindelwald’s relationship. Translation for the non-Harry Potter set: Dumbledore and Grindelwald are both wizards introduced in the original Rowling books; Rowling revealed after publishing her series that Dumbledore was gay, and very much in love with Grindelwald. When the prequel film Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald came out, many hoped that there would be at least one scene highlighting the romantic side of their relationship. Those dreams were quickly dashed. Yet in the commentary track included on the Blu-ray and DVD release of the film, Rowling assures fans that their “relationship was incredibly intense.” “It was passionate, and it was a love relationship,” she said of the characters (played on-screen by Jude Law and Johnny Depp). “But as happens in any relationship, gay or straight or whatever label we want to put on it, one never knows really what the other person is feeling. Great reaction! I can’t wait to see your reaction to the next film! I really feel bad for Jacob and Queenie because all they want is the freedom to love each other unconditionally. I believe when Leta professes her love, she’s talking to both of them. Thaddeus as a lover and Newt as a good friend. They both made her feel loved and valued when others didn’t besides Dumbledore. In case you didn’t know there’s a Harry Potter game which I’m sure you heard of called Hogwarts Mystery. You create your own MC and you play a story that takes place 11 years before Harry Potter comes to Hogwarts and not only do you learn magic and improve on it, you can also adopt some of the creatures that you see the Fantastic Beasts movies as well as the Harry Potter films. And you can even name them.

Some mistkates. Maggy was not a teacher on that epoch, the one who was Dumbledores mate was Slughorn and nope, Dumbledore teached transformations or "transfigurations" curiously the same subject than Maggy

Impossible. The flashback takes place in 1901 (confirmed by the script of the movie), when the Titanic sank in 1912.

Ya these were supposed to be 5 movies as a series but the movies did progressively worse in the box office so they canceled. I feel like if this was a series on it’s own and not related to Harry Potter it could’ve done better but there’s just a lot of inaccuracies and loose ends from even this movie to the 3rd one so if u compare it to the original movies (which so many do) its just no contest. Still love these movies but disappointed in the execution. Hopefully the new Harry Potter tv series where they have 7 season for each of the 7 Harry Potter books will be really good since they’ll have more time to include everything. They need to be super careful with their choices tho lol
Corvus was dead, to begin with... and that is kind of a big issue. Either Yussuf made an unbreakable vow that was already impossible to keep, or at some point after he made the vow it became impossible to keep. I don't know what would happen in that situation but I feel like SOMETHING should probably happen. Either the spell should be broken, or it should fail to cast in the first place, or Yussuf should just die. Either way, the fact that Corvus is dead & the vow is still in place is pretty inexplicable. Not however, as inexplicable as Queenie's sudden decision to join Grindelwald. If we accept the racial allegory presented (that a witch marrying a muggle man is somewhat akin to an inter-racial marriage) then Queenie has literally just joined the KKK. Would have made more sense for Jacob to join because he couldn't take another world war. Let's be real though, Queenie was on crack this whole film. Why the frick did she enchant Jacob ? He 100% would have gone with her willingly, I am flabbergasted by that choice. To this day, I still don't get it. Maybe if they were staying in the US & Jacob didn't
want to be with her because she would get in trouble then I could just about buy it but this... this is not good.

i know everyone (specially the ones that are Deep fans and not that much HP fans) HATE that he was replaced by another actor who they basically barely know. Mickelsen is a god, the dissapointing with the third one is totally on the script. No spoilers, i HATE where they're taking this franchise to. They're doing the same that last HP movies except there's no books here to take base on, just a poor scripts being written under a lot of preassure and with poor creativity freedom (thats particularly what i hate) more "wooo holliwood, humor haha, easy drama, lights and sparkles" and less (barely noticeable actually) the creativity that caracterizes HP books.
This one is the last "good" of Newt saga unfortunately and its the most sad thing bcs this is being leaded to the moment mentioned in books where thakes place the legendary "Dumbledore vs Grindelwald battle" literally "most amazing battle ever in magical history" and im so much worried that is gonna be dissapointing for the fans that have been waiting for it since the first mention, yeah, this story isn't about Newt anymore. They also have a work with first appearing of Tom Riddle who is about to get born. This could be an amazing spin off story for magical world and continuation for MORE MAGIC and they're screwing bit by bit and im so sad about it. Anywaylove ur reactions magical girl.
BTW since you're reading the books, u should read "fantastic beasts and where to find them" "Quidditch a brief story" "tales of beedle the bard" actually real books so magical and the texts (written by JK bout everything u want to know bout magical world in the official pages, thats how u got expert XD. I’m sure the new show will be decent but I dunno if they need it. But your right. They have to do it well. Im not liking the rumours of the casting for snape. I think he needs to be unknown. I also loved the cast in the movies. Hard to beat.
I think, sadly, this film was essentially overshadowed by the Amber Heard allegations on its release and never got its props as a movie. The fact that Ezra Miller was seemingly beginning to spiral off the beaten path at this time only added to the critical analysis that what we were served was, whilst a decent meal, the rescued, unburnt segments of what could have been a dish for the ages.

J.K. Rolling confirmed that A) Dumbledore was gay and B) he and Grindelwald were lovers. However Dumbledore couldn't accept Grindelwald's ideals so he walked away.

I'm sorry to be the one spoiling the fun, but the entire series was cancelled after movie 3 and most likely won't be picked up, as half the main cast's been involved in scandals and crimes. Most plot points remain unresolved, so it's kinda pointless to get engaged.
It isnt officially cancelled tho.... Lets hope for the best

@@sashabazine8364 I would watch, but I just assumed a video with only talking probably gets way less views than one reacting to the main film series on average and I know it's a balancing act for creators to make videos that will get seen but also are about what they are passionate about
I love the first 2 Beasts movies but dislike the 3rd. It feel that the story unfortunately folded to some serious media smearing and the creatives, because of a mixture of that with COVID and cast issues, felt they had to truncate, lighten up, and simplify the plotting, and also tie up a bunch of characters arcs too soon. It’s unfortunate
