Hi Nick, I want to take the opportunity to thank you for recording and informing many folks in how to fish salmon and trout. Your information in regard to the SW dipsey allowed me to land 2 nice steelhead on my last outing. Thanks for the updates on the versions as well. You have been VERY helpful in improving my fishing success. I have asked you some years back as to where you get your meat for your meat rigs. Particularly the green label/red label etc. Could you post a comment again as to where that was. As I remember, it was somewhere in the Green Bay area. Thanks again. Joe
Your welcome Joe. Thanks for the feedback. My Green Bay meat source (SteveO) does not supply herring anymore. The last time I bought herring was 2 years ago from a different friend and im close to being out. Hopefully I find a new source that i can share with everyone...
Hi Nick, What works for me is a separate mono loop through one of the micro swivel eyes. I do this on wire and braid. On braid I use a micro swivel to join the braid and mono leader. I take a separate short piece of 40 lb mono, run the 40 lb through the reel side micro swivel eye and tie the 40 lb into an appropriately sized loop for my spring clip, using a figure 8 knot. I trim the tag ends on the figure 8 knot, and it's done. For my wires, I tie in a short piece of 65 lb braid to the wire, then use a micro swivel to join the other end of the braid to the mono leader. I use the same 40 lb mono loop tied through the micro swivel eye as with the braid divers. So far, it's worked. I just change out the 40 lb mono loop from time to time. In your last video did SAR mean Salmon-Arama? Thank you, Nick!
I run my wire to swivel then 30ft 30lb mono leader acts as a snubber with stretch as well as adding the distance. I put the same dropper loop 3 ft from swivel so the leader goes into rod when you take it off to prevent kinks on end of rod with the hanging weight of the dipsy..
Nick, I use a 2 ft piece of 100lb braid. Tie a micro swivel to one end to attach to my wire, and tie in a loop knot in the short piece of braid, then tie my 25 lb flouralcarbon to the braid with the Alberto knot
Nick have you ever tried a pin clip with a wire dipsey rig? Seems like the clip should hold on the wire line? If I terminate the wire with shrink tube at a 65 lb mini barrel swivel to the leader it should go through the guides ok it seems to me. We can find lots of ways to lose big kings at the boat, and I just really want to try to prevent having to hand line them on wire dipsey rigs!
Where can I buy one of those green clips ? I run 2 or-16s one on front one on back of dipsy 65lb braid. Been using for 7 years no break offs or lost gear.
Fishing my dipsy down and out 200ft. Large size. I'm finding that my dipsy flips or rolls causing a tangle and then it won't pop. Is it because I'm not using a snubber for walleye?
@@zbrown72 after a few different attempts,l realized l free spooled it. Now l let the "clicker" keep tension on it. No more issues...a lot more fish. Thanks brother

Thanks for the info on that setup 👍 yes when I speak of the SAR I am talking about Salmon-A-Rama.

Thanks for posting. You also bring up a good point about the added stretch when using a longer leader 👍

Thanks for letting us know 👍
You don't use a snubber?
I use a micro barrel swivel and put the pin clip in front on the braid simple and easy for years works good
Thanks for the new information on how to rig your dippsy. Very informative. 👍
Thanks awesome tips to help catch more fish
No problem 👍

Thanks will try
On wire I tie in a short section of braid then to mono from there.
Go catch them get them in the grease👍

Your letting it out to fast. It is “falling” in the water and spinning

I see you use kast king braided line alot in your rigging videos. Any opinions or issues with it?
I've been using the 40# and have not had any problems at.
Hey Nick where exactly did you get the hollow needle?
I believe that I ordered it from Tackle warehouse?
Hi Nick want to go fishing with us I'm on the south side of Chicago by Indiana. My treat
"Promo sm" 😎
Long leaders, then hand line the rest... no need for this needle crap
