Oh yeah baby. One of the best ever.
Idk why people love the Hot Wheels paint scheme so much. I don't get the appeal of it at all.
My top ten in no specific order
      10. #18 Interstate battery Bobby Labonte being my personal fav version
      9. #6 Valvoline 1998
      8. #99 Exide Batt 1998-1999
      7. #42 Mellow Yellow Kyle Petty 92
      6. Darrel Waltrip Western silver and black
      5. Dupont Rainbow Warrior #24 Jeff Gordon any year, and fav is the TRex paint job for all star
      4. Kellogg's Corn Flakes #5
      3. #28 Halvoline Davey Allison with gold numbers and white side
      2. #3 Dale Earnhardt any paint schemes, but I loved the silver one off
      1. #20 Home Depot 1999 Tony Stewart with the Rigid sponsor and the white side stripe. My favorite driver next to Davey Allison. Loved him from his first start. No one believed me back then he was gonna be great. And remember his first win at Richmond and telling everyone he is gonna have the best rookie season of all time and get two more wins and he ended up doing it right at end of year he got the 3rd. Won a title 3years later. Had a great career. Could drive anything with wheels. Shame he never got a 500 win. One of the things he could never check off the list. But only driver to race the Indy 500 and coke cola 600 same day and finish in top ten in both. I think he may have lead a lap in both as well but not sure. He was one of the last drivers around that spoke his mind, got fired up on and off the track which always made for entertaining fueds. Him and Harvick really last ones from a different generation. You can say Busch but he sounds more like a whiney baby than anything else. Everybody else is just too corporate and just tows the line for the company, never starting any controversy. Makes the sport boring

I loved Terry Labonte's Kellogg's #5. That was the car that pulled me in as a kid watching my first race on tv. Pretty sure it was Bristol 1995 at that. Always been a favorite scheme.
Adam Petty's Spree car was cool too, liked the Western Auto Waltrip scheme too.

Where to even begin. Pretty much all of them looked amazing then and I'm sure I'm leaving out a ton of others. I'll try though since these ones pop out most in my memory. 1- Dale Earnhardt late 90s especially the one with the big Plus on the hood he won the Daytona 500 in, Rusty's 95 Genuine Draft (really all of Rustys Miller cars were great), 3- Jeremy Mayfield's 12 Mobil 1, 4- Allison-Irvan's 28 Texaco Havoline, 5- Burton's 99 late 90s Exide (only time I've ever seen pink look good on a car), 6- DW's Western Auto car early 90s with the chrome number, 7- any of Spencer's 23 Winston No Bull or Camel Smoking Joes cars, 8- all of Martins Valvolines then were amazing but the 98 Black Eagle One was the all time best, 9- John Andrettis 43 STP schemes (I know Richard retired after 92) but John Andretti's may of looked even better, 10- any of the 4 Kodak cars from Ernie Irvan, Marlin, and Bobby Hamilton. Honestly, I was never a huge fan of Gordon's rainbow car. The flames schemes in the 2000s were way better

Your comments about the 90s babies were spot on. The hot wheels car was the pinnacle of my collection & as a broke kid stuck with mostly 99 cents store cars, the most durable. Both Ernie Irvan's #4 Kodak (box) car and the #36 Skittles 'taste the excitement' paint scheme. Robert Pressley's cartoon network "the mystery machine" paint scheme. The Hollywood video paint scheme which I can't remember at this moment who drove that car. (Thinking it was Billy Standrige) Mark Martin's '98 valvoline paint scheme. * Jeff Gordon's 1996-99 Rainbow scheme is up there and then Neil Bonnett/Dale Jarrett/Morgan Shepherd CITGO Ford from 1989-1992, that white and red was a nice combo and it looked clean.
    * Tony Stewart's Home Depot Pontiac, I loved the orange and the white original scheme it was eye catching and it screamed home improvement because the white outline resembled the roof of a house.
    * Cartoon Network cars were always eye-catching when I was a kid
    * Davey Allison's Texaco scheme and later Ernie Irvan drove it.
    * Dale Jarrett's 88 Quality Care car was awesome and it got a lot of exposure with Dale winning the big events.
    * Derrike Cope/Ernie Irvan Skittles scheme on the 36 that was a beautiful car and even though Ernie never finished top 5 in it, it was a nice scheme and it got thrown back to last year.

I don't think you can argue with #1 even if you attempt to bring up Dale Sr's GM Goodwrench car since that scheme didn't originate in the 90's, that came about in the 80's, and Richard Petty's STP scheme was the 70's... I believe the truly iconic scheme died around the end of the second Bush administration-beginning of the Obama administration (not trying to be political, just using that as a reference point in American history) since we've seen less full-time sponsorships, also sponsors changing their designs every year, example being the Target cars, Juan Pablo Montoya's first NASCAR Target scheme wasn't the same as Kyle Larson's final Target scheme, I think the last iconic scheme was Jimmie Johnson's Lowe's cars

I remember a truck race, I think at Bristol, one of the trucks was painted with the identical Jeff Gordon Dupont paint scheme. That truck wins the race, and guess who climbs out at the end in victory lane to pick up the trophy? Terry Labonte, dressed up in one of Gordon's fire suits. It looked so weird and out of place. I think that was the only truck race he won.

I’m actually lucky enough to have a Kyle Petty Mello Yellow diecast. It’s an off brand version that had stickers on it, but it is partly hand painted and metal, so I count it. Your list is pretty similar to mine. I’d change some of the orders around, add the lightning Exide car instead of the purple-blue fade, and add in a Rusty Wallace blue-white Miller scheme and a Bobby Hamilton 43 scheme for Rusty’s own scheme and Jarrett’s scheme.

He's mine too. I met him at the 2003 Rockingham spring race and I have him a die cast I'd painted that was half his Hot Wheels and half Adam's Sprint car. I have a photo of him and I with it. Afterward, I sent Austin a note saying if Kyle wanted to auction the car off for the Camp, I'm ok with that. He wrote back immediately and said he'd 'talk to dad." A few days later, I got a note from Kyle who said, "I'm keeping it. Thanks again."
