How do you keep the little ones from pulling things off the shelves? Do you allow them to move toys from one area to the next and then have a big clean up at the end?
All the low shelves near the housekeeping area are for exploring all the larger shelves are “teacher shelves” the children have to request those items. (Some have pieces we like to keep together or are part of our small group activities for the month so we don’t just let them take those things out without asking in case we need the pieces for an activity) They are allowed to take things from one area to the other. We clean up at the end of the day. We have trays we set up at the table for the teacher shelf things so the children can explore on the tray during work time.
thank you! @@sunnypatchpreschool
Hello, what is your age range of kiddos that are normally outside of the baby gate bc i have the toughest time with my three year olds being frustrated with our 1 1/2 to 2 year olds
Hi! We use the gated area in a variety of ways depending on the social dynamic of the kids at any given time. Sometimes we use the gated area as a safe haven for the big kids who want to play or build uninterrupted. Other times we set up sensory activities for our kids who struggle to keep their hands to themselves and at this time we have two babies who we want to keep out of the general population during cold and flu season so we have their toys in that area since they mouth things. We dot. Keep any of the children in the area for prolonged periods of time, we rotate the children to give them breaks from each other and to manage the energy level of the room. Also we don’t use it as a punishment it’s more of an area away from the big energy areas for kids who need a calmer space to play.
Also our youngest is 5 months but most of our kids are 18 months and up.
@@sunnypatchpreschool thank you this helps me so much!
I was watching your last lunch prep video can you do an updated version of that or day in the life now that you have a group home bc I’ll be turning into one soon and I can use the extra insight. When you have the time no rush! Happy new Year by the way.
