Actually I just print out everything and keep it in a file cabinet. Don't need to pay for an SD card
I like how this guy thinks
Lol
Actually I just lay my print outs on the floor. No need to pay for a file cabinet.
@@HaikHakopyan actually I just copy it to cave paintings. Don't need to pay for modern technology
@@808drumz9actually i just memorise it, dont need to pay for cave crayons
iCloud is not so much a storage concept but used to synch between all devices like phone, iPad, laptop etc.
You can put files into iCloud only and keep them off your devices. I usually do that for large files that I don’t need taking up space on my phone
@@DraconicAux I believe that iCloud doesn’t have a calendar type of memory and if you happen to delete the file you are saving then it’s gone forever. So it’s no5 designed for use as a backup
@@pgreenx I’m not sure what a “calendar type memory” is to be honest, but I do know that it sends deleted files to “recently deleted” for 30 days, so it’s not instantly gone unless you fully delete it.
@@DraconicAux that's good for 30 days but the point is its really for synchronizing your phone, ipad and laptop and not backups.,
@@pgreenx true, I just personally use it for both synchronization and separated cloud storage. That’s why I like iCloud because it does both efficiently.
This defeats the purpose of cloud storage. If that card is lost, destroyed, stolen, then your data is gone. Also you need to bring it around with you and plug it into every device you use to access it, while cloud storage syncs up with everything.
okay, what if youre out of signal range? your precious little cloud turns into sync error galore.
@@baraka629 can’t you just use both cloud and hardware storage?
Both have their cons so the solution is spend more money and get 1tb storage😂
Never depend on a single source backup.
If photos and videos are important, cloud storage is an investment.
Backup to iCloud, Google, OneDrive, locally, and external drive/memory. Pick three and you’ll be okay.
@@Pterodactyl-kn3ve I think three is a bit excessive, but really it’s just personal preference. I think just a cloud and physical backup is enough for me.
Actually a great idea. I usually connect my iPhone to my Mac and transfer all my data to an external after the year ends and a wipe the phone clean. I have years and years on an external. But this is a great idea. I already have both of those on hand too.
As a data protection lawyer: Yes please! Do it!
Thank you for your response. I’m actually going to buy one now for sure. Your expertise in data protection is highly valued. Congrats on receiving your education in the legal field🎉🎉🎉. We know it was not an easy process. 💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
That’s why I will continue to use iCloud storage 😂
Do this for photos and videos since if phone stolen and passcode changed, you loose everything. You can contact banks & businesses, etc., but you'll never get pics and vids back.
This isn’t a substitute for encrypted iOS device back ups.
Not safe, anyone steal it, data is gone
Single point of failure - if card broke/damage - data can’t be recovered
How about cloud storage getting hacked, like what happened to Jen Lawrence? Cloud is safe?
@@GadgetRevNow yes but since then apple has been taking more security measures
Brokies like me can't pay that cloud
Brokies know my data isn't worth thinking the thought to be stolen cuz no world secrets with me. And me never seen people desperate to steal mine
And i know it would be safe with me
@@GadgetRevNow Omg everyone knows that it was her fault having a bad password and not the fault of Apple or anyone else.
@@GadgetRevNow Chances of cloud storage getting hacked are significantly lower than you simply losing the SD card and someone else finding it
A better idea for a real iCloud alternative would be a NAS system. It’s basically a small computer you put in your house with hard drives in it that you can access online. For something cheaper, you could just buy a cheap desktop PC and turn that into a server with some drives, and Linux.
Can you help me with this ?
@@paganizondasroadster1660 easy to setup i use a wd my cloud nas, u can create ur own too with a public facing ip, a stable internet connection, a nas supporting router like tp link
A NAS is a real pain in the back, and in case you build one, you need good upload speeds to be able to enjoy it.
If a house burns you're equally fucked. Both options come with their cons.
@@A1un9ine guess you both are from the USA. Where house are built of wood and sold for a fortune. Now I understand why wildfires happen in the USA. Doesn’t happen anywhere in the world
Where do you get the SD Card cable device from?
Google bro
Better back up to PC
Great idea, however I recommend multiple hard drives too
Good point!
So if you loose your SD card you're pretty screwed, and someone else has your data.
Once I plug that into my iPhone will I be prompted on what to do next? Please help!! Do the pictures just automatically start downloading from iCloud onto the SD card? Help please
What alternates can you use if apple changes dongle access or type of port?
Is there an adapter for this lightning cable to USB C ports? My iPhone has C port. Thanks.
Hey, I have a IPhone 14 max with iOS 17.5.1 and I bought the adapter with 256GB card but it keeps stating that it’s not supported. It seems like Apple is intentionally stopping this ability for some reason. What is the best work around you’d suggest? I appreciate any help.
Transferred and still no free space even with files not visible 😳
This is not gonna work this way. So if it’s we can use SSDs too. But what about backups?
I'm curious if it keeps the date and time from when images and videos are taken?
This is hardly a substitute for iCloud.
SD cloud 😂
I’m doing this right now, I’m extremely frustrated that iCloud doesn’t actually save my photos and will delete it if I delete it from my iphone! I don’t need to view my photos and videos from my mac, I just need more space!
3 dollars a month, $36 a year, each year ADDS UPP. I’m canceling my subscription, it just isn’t worth it if it won’t work as a storage solution.
So I’m buying a sd card and card reader cuz this is ridiculous
Plus its much cheaper in the long run too!
??? 😭
When your photos are uploaded to iCloud they no longer take up space on your phone so you don't need to delete them from your phone. As long as the upload is complete, not paused, it will say on your device, phone or iPad, at the bottom of the window of photos when you swipe up to reveal this status, the photo is not taking up space on your device. iCloud is amazing, pair it with a double hard disk back up. This is the price for digital photography.
I’ve bought 50GB. Now I feel like cancelling it. When I downgrade, it just gets stuck how do I fix this? I’m unable to downgrade
Great idea and video. Thanks man.
You just blew my mind… had no idea you could do that
Game changer 👍

Nice tips! Considering to use laptop or this.
where to buy this cable
In that case you might as well get an M.2 adapter and have a 1-4TB small form factor, storage unit 😅
I actually have an old phone. Very old one not an iPhone . It’s not working and full storage is completed but I have photos in it. How can I get ‘em all
This doesn’t replace cloud storage at all.
What about files? Documents?
i really hate ios copy file, have to copy to another app, very slow and inefficient. android does it so much better
Just self-host your files on your NextCloud/own Cloud.
Is microsd card can?
Defeats the whole purpose of having secure we. access to your stuff. BTW skip the dongle altogether -there are Sandisk thumb drives with lightning and USB-C connectors on opposite ends. You should use this a a backup but keep the convenience of cloud access.
They have thumb drives too with the lightning prong
Um, just use a NAS. And cloud storage for your settings etc, so they;re always backed up
It seems, on my iPhone, there is no longer a way to transfer files using a sync cable.
After delete in photos in the device
It’s all well and good to save it to an SD card, but what happens if the card gets corrupted?
THANKS!!!
If my apple watch is “coverage expired” , do i need to buy a new one?
Or you don’t know?
The whole point of cloud is to have the convenience of access anywhere anytime.
For the government 🥴
@@excitationofstereocilia2103 The government doesn’t need you to use icloud to see everything ….
@@excitationofstereocilia2103keep telling that to urself, gosh these conspiracy theorists
But not everyone only use apple products. I use iPad but not mac because it doesn’t support the software I use. Also I don’t need to wait for download and upload in this way, a usb transfer take no time and no internet required.
@@wagwan2 time for a booster 🥴🤡
I had this idea to buy a usb cable and transfer my files to an external drive 🤔
If this doesn’t work you can always connect to a computer whether that be your own or at a library or any other place provided with the service…always remember to delete your files after through the recycling bin too…even though they haven’t been installed into the computer itself…the computer will recognize whatever files you’d have and “recycle” that information…some libraries and places that provide you with a computer access delete them before their closing times but it’s always good to be 83% more safe…the other 17% will be the computer still knows the file and can be recovered by certain apps
Thank you
deleted all my mac files, phones photos and music i made over 6+ years with one icloud setting 🥴 why didnt i think of this!
Or a small usb stick works also
Can you do the same with a hard drive?
This only works for photos, so what is your answer for notes, files, voice, memos, voicemails, & text messages. In other words, you cannot clone the phone by simply using your method, but there used to be cloning cables that enabled that, or the Kingston mobile lite, & many of these devices are modalities are no longer available. This really sucks, so if anybody, has any suggestions, can you please respond back to me. Thank you so much!
Friend … movies and files can be also taken from the iPhone to a SD card
Or get someone to upgrade your memory from for example 128gb to 512gb
Don’t do that, sd cards aren’t designed for long term use
Sounds like a great supplement to using iCloud, but maybe not a great substitute (for me). Mainly, because not only do I use iCloud storage, I have all of my devices synchronized through it, which comes in handy and in some instances, is crucial.
USB adapter is better solution. I connect to thumbdrive
Thing is, I pay iCloud instead of this because it syncs ALL of my stuff through my 14 Apple Devices!
Where can I get one
I’m definitely going to look at this as one backup solution. Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
@@GadgetRevNow I use google photos all my videos and photos are still there from 2016 an I never spent a sent all I do is download the app on my phone and boom all of it is back
Thank You so much❤❤❤
I move pics and video to my mac photos, which is backed up on a time machine on my home network. No cloud!
Thx
Yea, but you can’t ‘share and collaborate.’ We’ve been using the sharing capabilities in iCloud for years and it’s a must have for us.
This will work well for just sending things from my sd card to my phone
Since when did the prices rise? I’m still paying the old prices
Which country ya from ?
@@2022_temporary USA. I subscribed to iCloud in 2021 but I never noticed a change in the subscription price and still pay the original value
@@user-vu3wq9hm2l how is the prices for ya brother ?
@@2022_temporary Still paying the 3 dollars. Actually same with Apple Music now that I think about it 🤔
10 dollars for apple music I mean 😅
Thank you!
Totally wish I would have seen this before buying transfer apps and icloud storage.
Data only stays for 30 days on icloud if you stop paying. When you die after a month everything on your cloud is will go along with you
I think the people that use iCloud use it for the convenience, being able to have access on any Apple device you use!
I know society is going backwards and all, but the only thing I can see this being used for is if you have something personal, you don’t want no one to have access to! Then again, why would you sync it to iCloud?
50GB is only 0.99 per month
$2.99 for 200GB
$9.99 for 2TB
$29.99 for 6TB
$59.99 for 12TB
Your prices are more expensive than it should be.
What cloud was that?? So cheap
iCloud prices
Omg thank you!!!
I uploaded everything to my whatsaap and set it to privately. You can access every time you like so you would never ran out of storage
I got around 1.5 tb in photos and videos and I have them on two separate external hard drives and I also have the photos on iCloud which I only pay $2.99 per month so I think I’m up to date.
Is there one for Android phones?
But iCloud is damn handy because it syncs everything to any device
Great tip❤
Thanks!
Good idea youse OTG wireless USB large storage gigabyte, or copy it on your loptop storage for back up retrieval restoration.
They upped their prices..
Yeah, right, I’m buying a 2Tb flash card and will carry it with me all the time😐
That don’t work. you need to POWER up the adaptor.
Put your photos library on an external hard drive
Downside, as you have to plug it into manage photos
But you’re working off-line at a limitless capacity (depending on the hd purchased
Also your limited by the size based off of whether or not you want to plug-in power for the hard drive I think it’s 5 or 6 tb is where it starts
Basically for 4 terabytes is plenty for probably 90 percent of photo takers
Or just plug into a pc or Mac and manually backup the files of autosync/backup
What if this SD card gets corrupted 😅
I used these untill my two pretty new SD cards holding important memories just randomly died.
The problem (At least what I’ve noticed from other devices plug into iPad and iPhone) is that you can only copy data over not cut. Because of this it is very easy to get confused what you have sent over and what you have not. So you can’t be 100% sure that you have sent over all that you want to send over and retained on the device what you want to retain. Because of this you don’t know what you can then delete from your device. The end result is you won’t be able to free up space which was the whole point. 😂😢
Which adaptor is this guy using? I am confident as with the others ones I have had in the past I will not be successful (I will have the same problem you describe) but I am willing to try again.
the whole reason why i really hate ios devices, you copy some photos by selecting one by one and have to manually delete them, again selecting it one by one. Doesn't even have a cut feature
You know you can just do backups to your Mac through finder?
good to know. of course that's only if you Have a mac.
I’m new what is echo system
If your going to do this just get a external hard drive that can actually be kept long term and store TB worth of data.
You do miss out on cloud storage conveniences regardless. Best case use both HD and cloud
You got a link?
I have hd but Transferring data to hd takes time. Is there a faster way?
How can I put my text messages from my I phone company phone I want to protect them they are trying to steam roll me and deleting messages. Thank u
Oh my gosh, you are a lifesaver a goddess thank you. I need to get this adapter piece right now.
you know that's a man, don't you?
@@buddy_love duh yes, I wasn’t born yesterday or under a rock
iCloud can sync it to all your devices though, and you’re potentially leaving your files or photos in the open without any form of security in the SD card, but if you really want to do it this way, at least get a descent sized SSD drive.
Absolute genius!! ❤️🤘🏻
I use a usb adapter with lightning port💪🏻for my pen drive
SD card is a good option, but it’s a CLOUD solution.
Android Nostalgia 😢
MicroSD To SD Adapter
Common bro there is no competition between those two. iCloud provides much more things “hide my email”, “private relay”, “family sharing”. Also whenever you want to share some photos it automatically upload to iCloud and generate a sharable link and after few days it will expire.
Just use ftp to make your phone storage your cloud and have acces from it from your pc and same with your pc storage and hsve access to it from your phone
After this you don't even need airdrop
You have acces to your other deviced storage just like this guy has on the sd card but wireless
A NAS could be a better alternative
Yeah his rap style still goes hard af.
