BJ40 Resto Pt 5 Chassis Repairs and Body Panels - Built Not Bought - SMART Automotive Solutions

After the blasting of the chassis revealed the extent of the work that needs to be done, we have started getting stuck into the chassis repairs to the rear end and also the crack in the spring hanger. The first step before starting to weld is to grind out a channel for the weld to penetrate into, and in the case of the crack we will also be terminating each end with a drill hole to prevent any possibility of spreading in the future.
The body panels came back from SEQ Onsite Services after blasting and the epoxy coat, the only real work that needs to be done aparts from a few pitted areas is a corner on one of the rear door window frames that has had a previous bodge it and scarper job done on it.
A different story is the rear upper panels, the customer dropped these off for us late last week and we were surprised to see the extent of the damage and cancer to the bottom corners. It is nothing that can't be fixed but it will certainly take some time to shape the replacement parts and get it all welded and skirfed ready for the the final stages, but we might get luck in the MrLandcruiser yard.

I always drill a hole at the end of the crack to prevent it spreading further. Then follow the crack with a cutting disc and then weld it up.

i did a repair on old car..first year look wonderfull... but two years later all rust start apear again... big decepion.. is just like câncer..

sorry my friend.. but that chassis is done.. late that truck look new but to BE real never Will BE good
the câncer is there u fix to look good but u know is all about time and rust Will start apear all Over again.sorry my honestly.
