Jaw-dropping chess. Black's ability to formulate a defense in this position, much less a mating net, was truly epic, and I do not use that term lightly. Great commentary, Mato! THANKS!
Mato your imagination knows no bounds! I laughed out loud when you started quoting "Eye of the Tiger". Then your description of this game, and the game itself, blew my mind...
I watched this while in bed, fell asleep and woke up clutching my chess board. Beautiful play by black. Thanks for sharing. Currently when playing as Black, modern defense is my go to.
When he introduces himself I bet he does it with the Swedish pronunciation so it doesn't sound like person and tiger sounds different too although the meaning is the same as it is in English.
It was a fantastic game.A farfetched defense which is spectacular is what I love and find amazing..And it is very pleasing to find the correct move in the end :) Thanks for the commentary , Mato !! Nice video again.
I've seen every one of your videos over the last year or so, Mato, and this is one of my favorites. Such a detailed vid, very long considering, with multiple "what-if"s, and a non-typical climax (plus I guessed everything). Sacrificing the queen to keep the knights alive to spawn their crazy paired mischief. I thought maybe Black's king rook was gonna be wasted, and it gets the killing blow without ever once moving on its own. As quiet a kill as you can get. Quantity over quality never felt so good.
You are great Mato! Thanks for showing us the wonderful game and its analysis, move order etc. You are my favorite :) I remember one of your quote from your youtube video... when life gives you lemons make lemonade out of it :)
Yes, you never want to be so desperate for a queen that you sacrifice that many pieces to get her. If you DO sacrifice heavily to get her, then it needs to be part of a master plan to lock down the King. ALSO: Always play the game through, even when you lose your queen. I've known a lot of people's spirit is defeated after she dies.
I believe that you exaggerated with your admiration, Mato. Anyone can be a tiger with a coward. Sokolov was playing very well up to the middle game, but he was afraid to attack his opponent. Since he had a contrasting attitude, the ‘tiger’ didn't let him escape.
Hey Mato! I want to ask if black plays pawn to g3 instead of that queen check then? Then even if black brings the rook on hi to check, white king can go to g2.. Correct me if I'm wrong.. As always, excellent and very entertaining game!!
On second thought I think that the black pieces played the 26 - Rd7 move to invite the continuation 27. a6-a7 - Rxb7 28. a8Q - Rxb2 29. Qf3 - Nxf1 as the black pieces are still winning even against two queens so he may have calculated this entire line, then due to intimidation white played 27. Bc6 which is actually weaker than 27. Bf3 although white was intimidated, chess is psychology
If white played 24. axb5 then 26. bxa6 then white needs to play a6-a7, white already moved the pawn twice, for example 27. a6-a7 then - Rxb7 then 28. a7-a8Q then - Rxa8 does not work, so then the black pieces need to face two queens, even though the black pieces are still winning it looks like the logical line if you can not push a6-a7 later. The computer suggests 27. Bf3 which could have continued with an almost equal position however there are blunders all over the place
I'm glad you asked that. You made me play the game myself. The reason why Bxf4 doesn't work because white will either be giving up the queen or the game. Bxf4+. There is no way to block the check. either Qxf4, or kh1 and kg3 checkmate. I highly recommend you playing the game on a board if you don't see it. I hope to hear back and thanks.
Complex game. White lost by shoving his queen on the side of the board away from the action, rendering the taking of the black Queen no gain. White King defense was generally poor too with the pawn movements.
Jaw-dropping chess. Black's ability to formulate a defense in this position, much less a mating net, was truly epic, and I do not use that term lightly.
Great commentary, Mato! THANKS!
Wow. One of the best games, Mato.
No tiger was harmed in this video

Amazing play by both players. No one lost this game.
That king move was so good. And this complexity of the game is superb!
This is beautiful...
Real Tiger was involved.
Complicated game.
Every move req premeditation.
Thx Mato
Excellent review. I always look forward to viewing your channel. Thank you.
Legend has it that the tournament organizers had to wear gloves because the pieces were too hot to handle after this game :-)
I'm done with my homework for the week, now it's time to R-E-L-A-X with a Mato video.
i usually click on Mato to avoid done homework not the other way around!
Nice game Mato & complicated. Enjoyed both the game & your sense of humour !😎
I bet this guy constantly gets misheard when he introduces himself. "Hello, I am tiger person".
When he introduces himself I bet he does it with the Swedish pronunciation so it doesn't sound like person and tiger sounds different too although the meaning is the same as it is in English.

Enjoyed every second of the game ...and that too with such soothing commentary ...just loved it
I appreciate the rock 'n roll references, especially too hot to handle!
You are great Mato! Thanks for showing us the wonderful game and its analysis, move order etc. You are my favorite :) I remember one of your quote from your youtube video... when life gives you lemons make lemonade out of it :)

No fire but a volcano in the chess board.

Yes, I saw Kg7 with the idea of Rh8#. Tiger did indeed play like a tiger in this game.
Extremely beautiful game.

Very impressive
I think after watching this game that your English improved very well
And yes I also recognized the song from Rocky. I though Rocky III. I was fun.
I’ll never resign after losing my queen ever again
FANTASTIC GAME Mato!
Anyone else thought tiger person was a fictional name whose real identity was to be revealed at end lol!!
Love the reference to Eye of the Tiger! Not too many got that one, I'm sure, Mato!
I'm glad. That I found magical move😀😀😀
Very complex game! Awesome!
love me some Mato
Wow, watta fight. TY mato
Seems like Mato got a pc upgrade
That was fun watching this game !
Totally awesome!
What!! Black pieces were red hot cant able to handle
Extraordinary win after losing a queen!
This game has a precedent in Pilnik-Grob, Madrid 1951 and Ariasanov-Chernin, Capelle op 1994.
So, the black plan is very old.

Extreme
To hot to handle........that's a good one.
Great game! In my opinion, if after Kg7 white plays g3, then the white king would live to tell the story...
Thanks
Nice moves

Da hell!!! well played both sites!
Great game.
Dramatic thumbnail.
I've been looking for rook move so long, but in the meantime... King goes to g7 xDDD
Brutal attack
Instead of Bxd4, why not Kf5xd4, d1xd4# therefore protecting from Qb6
I missed...and where is Denmark...!

I want to see the game between tiger person and bird person.
At move 17.dxc6 Rxc6
Why didn't white took the rook with the Bishop?
Im still amazed about this extremly hot game
I'm glad you asked that. You made me play the game myself. The reason why Bxf4 doesn't work because white will either be giving up the queen or the game. Bxf4+. really greatful
thnx bro

Sokolov was very sad after this game, sure he overlooked to win this game
Go Rocky...
4:00 "...castling and it's unclear who is better". Ok, c2-c3 to exploit Rd1-Qd7 connection? Bd4 is pinned.
What do I think? I think that Mato is a f%#&en tripper.
Very wild
Great 👍🏻 game😅😅😅🥇🥇🥇🥇
