Good to hear that you got it sorted! My new 686+ 4” DCM is silky smooth, and the stock rubber hogue grips are actually pretty awesome.
I think you may have stuck that little pin in the wrong hole, FWIW-there is a pin hole near the bottom of the grip outside the frame imprint. Anyway, good video!

Smith's recent addition of more MIM internal parts and non existent quality control indicates internal business problems at S&W IMO. Just dumping faulty guns on the customers and hoping they go to their local gunsmiths is BS. Most are doing this, some send gun back to the factory for warranty then wait. Most problem are so stupid i.e. smoothing a burr off of action parts etc. This is complete lack of quality control. I've personally seen 2 revolvers that weren't even proofed at the factory, that's nuts. For those of you not familiar with proofing all firearms are fired before being boxed,at least one of the rounds fired is loaded to 110% to 150% meaning way hot over SAAMI spec. Nice load boom! It's easy to spot the hot load with revolvers ,as soon as you inbox your revolver look at the end of the cylinder before any cleaning. That hot load is clearly evident by the powder burn as well as the rest of rounds fired. Factory person does wipe it off but never gets all of it off.👋

It’s good that the problem’s sorted out, but it never should’ve happened to begin with, especially on a brand-new gun. Lately, Smith & Wesson’s quality control has been going downhill, and these issues are showing up way too often. It’s just not acceptable when a fresh-out-of-the-box firearm fails immediately: it’s frustrating and shakes your confidence. Now I’m looking at Colt’s lineup-Python, Anaconda, Kodiak, Grizzly, Viper-because since CZ took it over in 2021, Colt’s been on a whole different level. Their newer revolvers are far better and virtually trouble-free, leaving the older versions and the current competition in the dust.

Next year, we’re hoping to add a few Colt revolvers to our lineup of reviews.

You got that right driver! 3" Combat Elite Python and 4.25"Anaconda, about ready to move on a 5" Python.👍
