I love that Belisario is actually contributing to this record, not just being a touring guitarist, as he’s been thus far. Talented dude! Also, I can’t express how excited I am that the new album has been announced, and has a release date. Always loved Cattle, and have appreciated the progression in their songwriting, and the contributions of all the different members as they join Travis and Josh along the way. They just keep getting better!!!
Bel is an awesome dude and a KILLER player. It was awesome having 2 guitarists on this one. It opens up a lot more options for guitar layering and gives them the ability to replicate it live.
Dave Otero right on man! Their work has definitely reached a new level since they started working with you.
These videos are so thorough & awesome. It's crazy how just two producers/studios (Otero & Ballou) are responsible for literally like 90% of my favorite albums of the last 10-15 years

@Zulpher Hell yeah, man! Driving 4 hours with my girl then driving 2 more hours to see Family in Tucson afterwards. The drive is gonna suck but the concert will be worth it!

I met Josh before a show in Atlanta earlier this year, we talked about guitars and old venues for about 20 minutes before he had to go back inside, told him i am a guitarist as well so that was awesome, and i met the rest of Cattle after at their bus right after their set. Josh gave me a Dava pick that had been used many times by him considering the ware on it, and Belisario gave me a black pick with their logo on it, and got to hang with the whole band for about 45 minutes. I was super nervous meeting Travis tho... Definitely a monumental night for me as a fan and fellow musician!
*I put Cattle Decap up for the night the first time they played in New Orleans at the House of Blues. We ate chocolate chip cookies. Make sure you tell them about this comment.*
They opened for GWAR that night. I was writing a fanzine back then. I was late and missed my interview with them. Summer of 2002? 2003 seems too late. I gauge everything from way back then off of 911, so, I did this and this and yadda yadda after 911. Lol..
When I first saw Josh's guitar I was like "damn, what was that man thinking?".
But little by little it has grown on me and now I think it is just beautiful, It really compliment's the style of music they play, and when he is shredding that thing on stage it fits right in.

There's so much detail into every choice you guys make and i never thought some things would make much of a difference but knowing the last few albums and hearing the teaser, it really shows every small choice matters and it all culminates to this original sound. This video was something i didn't know i needed. can't wait to see more content.

I desperately hope this channel gets the following it deserves. Dave is up there in the Erik Rutan and Kurt Ballou hall of fame for extreme music producers as far as I'm concerned. Cattle wouldn't be the same without him. Can't express how bad fucking ass this channel is

Tbh, i never really paid much mind to this band other than when an occasional vid would pop up in recommended/related. The few songs i heard didn't resonate much with me but seeing the nuances of their sound explained in such a detailed, consummate manner really has me excited to give their music a better listen. @@DaveOteroTube If your taking suggestions for more videos i'd love to hear some in depth tips for setting guitar EQ on the amp. i mostly mix as a hobby and i find that metal guitars are a big challenge. The tones on the CD videos are so defined and still retain all of the brutal characteristics you want with a album like this. Anyways, can't wait for this release. !!!

I never expected that you would be picky about the guitar pick (hehe). I always use the Dunlop 1mm extra grip, but I’ll check out the ones you mentioned in the video

Thanks for watching! The majority of the album is double track, but there are a few sections where we quad-tracked for the right sound. I agree though, I generally prefer double tracking.

After watching this it makes me once again happy in my decision when i got my 6505+ years ago, its a badass amp. And that copper top guitar is some crazy shit.
Pretty hard to be the trusty 5150 / 6505 honestly.
@@DaveOteroTube Don't know if you'v tried one but I have a old B52 at-100 head that sounds very nice and meaty and i would still use if it didn't break every other year. After sending it in 3 times to get fixed i broke down and bought my 6505+.
I've not finished watching the video yet but once I heard the talk about the picks that were used I knew you meant business. Like, the proper business! Real interesting shit
