    A little while ago (okay, more like a year or two), I made a video comparing Ozempic to Rybelsus and talking about how it's kind of the inferior form of Ozempic. Is this still true?

    I've been on Rybelsus for 3 months, from the 3mg for a month, then the 7mg for another month, and finally 7mg. I lost just over half a stone. In that time, I felt weaker, tired, and became exhausted very quickly, feeling unable to do anything. I lost my appetite. I went back to the doctor who checked my pulse and decided to give me an ECG and discovered i had an irregular heartbeat. The doctor put me on blood thinners because I was at risk of developing a blood clot, which could lead to a stroke. I asked if this could be anything to do with the rybelsus medication and was told there were no reports of any side effects to an irregular heartbeat. However, I decided to look at the manufacturers website and found that an irregular heartbeat was a listed side effect. I decided to stop taking the rybelsus medication and return to my original diabetic medication. Thankfully, with in 36 hours, my heart rhythm returned to normal. I did not feel tired, exhausted, and felt like a new man. My doctor is trying to persuade me to go back on the rybelsus medication.

    During the initial 60 days, I shed 30 pounds by using Rybelsus at doses of 3mg and 7mg. Yet, in the subsequent 60 days, I've observed no further weight loss while consuming Rybelsus 14mg, and my hunger levels remain unchanged. Is this lack of progress typical, and would it be wise to persist with Rybelsus 14mg?

    I'm on Rybelsus, in Europe. My daily dose is 14mg.
    Given the dosage in the trial was 50mg,should I expect my results to be significantly less good than using Ozempic?
    I started on Ozempic but moved to Rybelsus because Ozempic became almost unobtainable. Since then, my weight loss has flatlined.
    By the way, I also dislike the daily tablet. I have found it hard to consistently use it. My day starts with a glass of OJ or a mug of tea and habit means I often sleepwalk through making tea or opening the juice, so a day wasted!

    • @theofficialdrdan

      It looks like the 50mg tab and wegovy at 2.4mg once weekly have comparable results over 68 weeks. So you will probably be splitting hairs as to which is more benefit. It would more be what works best for you.

      As you probably know, many people stop using many types of medication that have a beneficial effect because of the manner in which they are administered.
      I fully intend to continue with Rybelsus, but I can understand that some people might not.
      Having been in the position of being able to use both forms, it seems reasonable to have a preference based upon the usage of the drug.

    Great video! One of the downsides to the injection is the long lasting nature after taking it. It is a long time to wait for side effects to resolve when starting or ramping up the medication. The doctor should be able to take much quicker action on the medication dose (including discontinuing) for a daily pill. Or maybe that is a downside due to the ease of quitting the medication. Did this study show a higher "quit" rate due to side effects than Ozempic/Wagovy?

    • @theofficialdrdan
      @theofficialdrdan  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Semaglutide is the molecule in both as such the kinetics is the same. Whether you take the molecule oral or via injection that dose will last in the system for ~4-5 weeks. The quit rates in the Wegovy vs. Rybelsus studies are about the same.

    Many GLP-1 medication patients complain that hunger suppression only lasts for a few days after taking their once-a-week injection. I have to wonder if a once-a-day pill would help with this.

    • @theofficialdrdan
      @theofficialdrdan  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      Depends. What is often occurring here is not the drug wearing off its people not eating enough to lose weight quickly. Therefore, their hunger is way up and when the drug decreases in serum concentration slightly they note an increase in appetite. Oral formulation likely won't affect much if the individual is not eating enough.

      Having used both oral and injected versions, my experience is that both have been effective in terms of appetite suppression. However, I have not been trying to control my calorie intake. I was advised to listen to my body and early in the process I made a conscious effort to eat regularly even if I did not feel at all hungry. Later the degree of appetite suppression reduced and at that point I ate when I felt hungry and continued to lose weight. Since starting, at no point did I count calories.
