Fishtrips, You say you do strict keto while on ozempic, does the medication mess with your blood sugar levels? I am on ozempic and I worry it will make my blood sugar too low since I am not eating any sugar in my diet. Has that been a problem for you?

I agree with you, Dr. Berry. But I was on Ozempic for 8 months. I have PCOS and reached diabetic levels. I went keto (didn’t know carnivore at the time) I lost 20 pounds and plateaued. My A1C and Triglycerides were still very high. I went on Ozempic and it helped me lose 40 pounds. Allowed me to start exercising again because I was so heavy, it was hard to move my body. Off of Ozempic, down 71 pounds altogether, eat mainly Whole Foods prioritizing meat. Much more active. I can do 10 pushups when I couldn’t do 1 before. I’m glad I used it, but I’m glad I had a doctor that was very clear it was an addition and not the cure it’s marketed to be.

I'm disabled and exercise is very difficult. I have pushed myself to the point of further injury trying to lose weight. I've changed my eating habits and lost 20-30 lbs but plateaued. I'm at a point where I need something to help me get to a weight level that I can really exercise without hurting myself. I'm fully aware that this medication is not a cure but it is a tool to help. I was in the military so I do know how to manage nutrition and exercise. Most of my weight gain came from being injured and waiting years for corrective surgeries.

The sad truth is that as a society we need to address WHY so many people are overweight/morbidly obese/diabetic, etc. A pharmaceutical drug doesn’t address lifestyle, mental health, stress management, spiritual well-being and healthy habits. The side effects of any medication are risky and dangerous, but I feel the the standard American lifestyle and diet are the root cause of many illnesses. As a healthcare professional I encourage and educate my patients on these principles.

People with obesity who take Ozempic or Wegovy to shed excess pounds might get an unexpected benefit.
Results of a small experiment published May 9 in the journal Obesity suggest that drugs containing semaglutide, the active ingredient in Ozempic and Wegovy, might help reduce the risk of cancer. That’s because the study found that semaglutide restored the function of so-called “natural killer” cells, which play a role in fighting cancer but often don’t work properly in people with obesity.

My doctor, who does not support carnivore, prescribed Oz. Thank God there is a four month back up at the pharmacy or I would have picked it up before seeing your video! I even went to a hormone clinic for bloodwork, which I am waiting on, and they suggested, of course, that I start Wegovy. I’ve been debating and found your video. I’ve been carnivore, again lol, for about three weeks. I am considered morbidly, obese, but no diabetes. After doing the research, I’ll just stick to carnivore. Keep up the good work because apparently you and Neisha both, have some haters out there. You must be doing something right! I trust you more than my own PCP. I wish I could find a PCP, who was actually educated in truth, the way that you guys are!

I took Ozempic for 3 months. It didn't improve my numbers or my weight (so my doctor wanted to increase my dose). I started to struggle with chronic pain in my knees, hips & ankles. I could hardly walk and started getting depressed about my weight and health. After I started having kidney pain, I did some research and found other Ozempic patients experiencing similar symptoms. I stopped taking it altogether. After a month or so, I was able to walk and move without the chronic pain. My doctors was not happy, but I was. Numbers are slowly getting better with diet change.

I think just exercising and seeing how hard you work for it helps you lower down your cravings. When I did workout, I was looking at the calories lost, and I always thought well I would be walking less by 50calories/day if I stop eating a chocolate bar a week. Overall, that would add up to around less walking by 40min/week, which I could use to take an extra nap or 2 or watch a movie or spend time with family. So, by thinking about calories, I dropped eating habits and I felt less hungry then usual almost all the time. Keep it up!

In less than 24 hours after my first dose of D3 I felt 90% better and by the end of the week I was 99 % cured. I With that I definitely have seen how a lung problem can develop with low levels of D. .( I'm also hypothyroid.) Still I would definitely keep thiamine in mind because that I believe Dr. Berg or someone else drew the connection between "air hunger" and Thiamine. I noted Thiamine with Benfotiamine also seems to keep the tingling in my hands less intense. Thiamine is very much connected with the autonomic nervous system and that also regulates the speed that things pass through it. If Ozempic is altering this there could be a connection between Thiamine and Ozempic and thus the very common symptom of "air hunger" in Thiamine deficiency. People can end up going to the emergency room with it, thinking they can't breathe yet their oxygenation levels are completely adequate.

It worried me-who wants to add an unnecessary drug when you can control your issue with your nutrition? So, I am glad to see this video. My husband and I eat mostly carnivore these days. I'm 66 and hypothyroid for about 23 years, he's a 70 yr old disabled veteran with horrible chronic back and other joint pain and less strict than I am with it, but my BMI is in normal range and my body has reshaped itself though Ive been stalled for a couple of years (but stalled at about 10 lb above what I consider my ideal weight so not all bad!). I don't obsess about my weight anymore and don't have to because this way of eating controls it with ease. I have more lean muscle mass than in my 30's and can heft those 50# feed bags to hoof to the barn for the chickens. I could not do that 20 years ago. Thanks so much ~Cynthia

My doctor prescribed Ozempic for weight loss, and I took it for almost 4 months. It was awful. I lost weight, yes, but it's pretty easy to lose weight when you're constantly nauseous, and repulsed by food. After 4 months I was tired, dizzy, constantly headachy, nauseated and had almost constant heartburn. I couldn't drink a glass of water without feeling sick. I no longer enjoyed my food, couldn't even look forward to a nice steak dinner since a few bites would have me feeling queasy. I realized that aside from whatever the drug was doing for my weight, I was also losing weight because I was on a starvation diet since I couldn't eat much of anything. I quit Ozempic a few weeks ago, and my energy is back, my headaches are gone and so is the nausea and heartburn. I would definitely not recommend this to anyone for weight loss!

For those that aren't using Ozempic for weight loss, my story my be helpful. Doctor Ken can correct me if I'm off base. At 180 lbs and 5'10, I have around 15 lbs to lose to get to the "recommended" weight for a male my height and age. A diabetic since age 40, now 62. Changed main meds several time over the years when I noticed my control of morning fasting was off and staying that way. I started keto (with real effort) 3 years ago and dropped from 238 down to 190 and hit a hard plateau. I was okay with that and told myself I could "ease" back in the natural sugars (fruits) and small amounts of breads. Well, a year later I was back up to 213. I got back on the keto wagon and 6 months later I'm at 180 +- 4 lbs. I still treat myself to some bad things, but stay fairly close to my salads and meats, and fats. From my perspective, I have learned that there is no going back to "ease" back in the sugars and breads. It is a life style change to get the weight to stay off. Back to Ozempic, I needed to switch off of generic Actos for the 2nd time (long term health ramifications) and wanted something to maybe help a little with weight loss as I had hit another plateau at 190 lbs. My doctor warned me of the "life long" use of the drug. For me, it is a risk of the lab rat, but I have also lived with long term exposure to "other" drugs known to cause long term issues. Pick your poison, I say. I don't have near the weight loss goals of some people who are using this drug for just weight loss. If I need to get off this drug, then with GOD willing, I'll have the strength to not go back to an unhealthy eating life style. Good luck to all in your weight loss goals!

Thank you, Dr. Berry. I began taking Ozempic in early 2021; at the time, my A1c was out of control, and the next stop was insulin. However, it _might_ help me lose a little weight, my doctor said. I am currently taking Trulicity, an older drug in the same class, because I was unable to get Ozempic due to it being diverted by the weight loss industry. I also COMPLETELY revamped my diet, as well as exercising (I currently walk/run 5+ miles/day). I do isometric resistance exercises (pull ups, squats, pushups, oh god soooo many pushups).
I have lost 150 lbs. Just under half my bodyweight, and I do not have the muscle loss that you bring up.
Now, did the GLP-1 agonist do ALL of this? NO, absolutely and completely not. Both my GP and psychiatrist fall all over themselves to reassure me of this. On the diabetic dosage, I could have expected to lose 3-5% of my bodyweight, not 50%.
But what the GLP-1 agonists, and Ozempic in particular, did for me was give me the strength of willpower to make those changes. By dampening my incessant hunger, I had the chance to take a breather, re-evaluate my choices, and change.
Will I be on it forever? That is certainly a possibility, but it's not in my plans. Competitive bodybuilding, maybe... 🤣

+1. It gives me the willpower to eat the right way. One thing, those of us on Monteiro talk about is that it reduces the food noise. You cannot imagine how relieving it is to not have to think about food 24 seven. I’m back to eating healthy manner, I hope would be that I could stay on this and taper down over time.

Bravo! People that do not get the food noise, will never understand it. It will always be "get willpower"! I hate that. Do they not see how many diets we've all been on. Do they think we enjoy being fat? It's ridiculous.
I applaud you. I take compound tirzepatide. Started 7/1. I started at 392 pounds! I could barely move. I hurt so bad. I've been on so many diets. I even had weightloss surgery! Unless the mind talk is fixed nothing works. I am 342 today. 50 pounds gone. I'm still hurting when walking but at least I'm not out of breath. The biggest thing is FOOD NOISE IS GONE!!! It's so nice to not be controlled by the thoughts of food all the time. But unless you live with this, they will always say this is an easy way out, and we are weak or whatever. I don't care. I don't plan on going off of it just for the quiet mind.

I am very resistant to medication, and did my own research. Holy cow! What I read scared me away permanently. I have since improved my diet, having no carbs and very little sugar, and I lowered my daily insulin units significantly. My next step is to increase my strength training and exercise. After increasing to the higher dose, I started noticing a lot of hair shed/loss. (normal thyroid function). Soon after injecting, it made me regurgitate and I threw up in my mouth quite frequently. I felt just awful and had to go off of it. My A1C only went down half a point, and I only lost about 4 pounds and a huge handful of hair from my crown area. As a Celiac, AMAG Autoimmune Mediated Atrophc Gastritis, pernicious anemia and Hashimoto’s sufferer, I have noticed no one has considered those of us whose immune systems wiped out the L cells in their intestines.
I suffered for two decades over eating and feeling like what I ate was normal. I ruined my metabolism yo yo dieting every time I had to lose weight. I didn’t view my appetite as abnormal during this time but I ate far more than my husband did.
Eventually I had a massive celiac attack last year and then started gaining ten pounds per month as I was ravenous. At first I considered maybe I had an eating disorder. What made me realize I had a physiological problem was the night I ate a giant steak dinner with vegetables and a salad and was starving one hour later like I had never eaten dinner.
I was told about semaglutide and no one had a great explanation of how it worked. Once I learned about L cells in the small intestine everything made sense and the last two decades of struggling with hunger and over eating. If I didn’t have semaglutide I would weigh 300 pounds. Gaining ten pounds per month and feeling hunger constantly is no way to live. Semaglutide is affordable. No one needs to buy the name brand of this peptide. I wouldn’t call a peptide a drug. The drug companies jumped on this. There are hundreds of peptides in use. They are strings of amino acids. Sure if someone has a normal level of this peptide they could have the known side effects. Being deficient I have experienced no side effects. I am relieved to simply no longer living with constant hunger and struggle to not eat food every hour.
I propose there are many Americans with damages L cells from GLYPHOSATE! Glyphosate is ubiquitous and eating organic food is no protection.
People living in Mexico from the US are reporting weight loss while eating pastries and drinking alcohol everyday. One person is a friend and he been fat most of his life. He is think like a teenager now. When he goes back to Texas he gains weight. The weight falls off without modifying their diet or trying to lose weight. The only explanation is our food and water are toxic. I saw another post from someone who spent 3 months in Jordan and lost 30 pounds.

Finally some decent doctor commentary about this. I was immediately prescribed ozempic when I went to see an endocrinologist about my fatigue and she basically told me I was fat and ozempic was the answer. I started, stopped (as wasn’t comfortable taking medication for something I felt should be investigated further to ascertain root cause) then started again after another appointment then finally stopped when I realised that although I didn’t have horrible side effects, I stopped feeling the feeling you get when you need to go to the loo (to pee) and only actually registered the need to go when it was almost too late. It was weird. I also had this strange pain in my chest which may or may not have been related to the medication, but it worried me. Anyway, I did start losing weight on it but to be honest I like eating and even if there weren’t side effects I’m not sure it’s such a good idea to increase your body producing insulin as isn’t that going to increase the desensitisation of the cell receptors to insulin anyway, which surely would do more damage.

Spot on! It is of absolute critical importance that everyone takes charge of their health and everything to do with it, not least, understanding what medication you're putting into your body and the possible side effects (particularly, long-term). Research your condition and any medications via the web and books/libraries. Always try to reference peer reviewed material that has been authored by experts or that which comes from well recognised institutions. Doctors and health care professionals are not gods and generally do not or cannot spend enough time on understanding you and your condition, and treatments are often offered on a 'trial' basis i.e. "take this and let's see what happens". I now always state up front, that I see Doctors etc to work "WITH" them on my health matters, but the diagnosis and treatments have to make sence before I commit. Most doctors are great with this approach, but a couple have not and I respectfully decline their services. I was recently offered Ozempic, but declined because I wanted to keep working on using date and exercise to see if that worked, rather than ingest yet more medication into my system. I think that you've got the right approach and good luck with everything. .......................Question everything and trust nobody.

Yes, some of them did lose weight, at least at first, but they didn't make any life style changes, so as soon as they quit taking it (either because of financial reasons or that they couldn't handle the side effects), boom, they popped right back to their beginning weight, and then some.
I am not in the USA, and ozempic and other similar drugs are literally being pushed here left right and center, as if it's some kind of a miraculous elixir, all under the title of diabetes medication, not necessarily as a weight loss drug, in order to make it more prestigious, of sorts. I guess having a more serious clinical halo to it. Making it the doctors seem more concerned with their patients' health (diabetes), rather than just with their obesity or eating disorders.
Thanks again for being truly concerned with your patients' health!

I have been keto for years and also carnivore for 8 months and loads only two pounds. I am currently on GLP1 AND keto and I have finally lost 20 lbs in 6 months.

I mean this respectfully - but if you were actually carnivore (zero packaged “carnivore” snacks) for 8 months and you only lost 2 lbs then you’re simply eating too much - it’s physically impossible to be zero carb and not lose weight unless you’re overeating. I’m a pharmacist - Dr Berry is right, Ozempic is going to be a disaster with how many people are on it. If u can do carnivore then just fast 18hrs every other day and you’ll lose weight but Ozempic is going to turn out badly for a lot of people - it may be 1yr or 5yrs but it’s going to have major unintended consequences

Is dairy part of your diet? I found it's extremely difficult to lose fat when I ate cheese and yogurt regularly.

I could not lose weight for over 13 years and went full blown carnivore and lost about 20 lbs (could NEVER get out of the 180’s until now and I’m only 5’4”) but my blood sugar was still high after 5 months of carnivore. Then started taking Berberine and GLP-1 Semaglutide and dropped another 25 lbs and my blood sugar FINALLY dropped! Been on it for about 6 months

I think we need more videos like this. My doctor explained that Ozempic curbs your cravings to eat, and slows, the food through the bowels so you feel full. I personally don’t crave food, but had trouble losing weight because I am not doing cardio as much due to recovering from bilateral QTR. My MD put me on Phentermine and I lost 10lb the first month and felt 20 yrs younger because I was also able to think more clearly.. It was not covered by insurance but was only $16 for a month supply vs. $1,300 for Ozempic.

      Glad I scrolled down.
I have 20 pounds to lose. Seems like nothing, but I’m 52 and last couple of years I’ve gained weight. I eat healthy and work out 5 to 6 days a week.
So what’s wrong? Dr said to do my research on Wegovy.
      Just unsure

Made me weak, sick, no strength, almost faint ever-time I stood up, extreme anxiety, started to look old in my face. I lost weight but not enough studies have been done and I didn’t know it was the drug doing this to me because all my doctors said it can’t be causing all of this but guess what I stopped taking it and all my systems went away and I feel better now

I took Wegovy for a month with no problem. I lost 12lbs. I stop taking it only because I couldn't afford it and my insurance rejected it. My A1C has always been normal. The only problem was my BMI was over 40%. I've recently was diagnosed pre-diabetes and placed on Ozempic. My insurance pays for it which is awesome. However after my injections, I feel horrible for at least 3 days. No strength, energy low, fatigued. Just feel horrible. Feel like I'm going to pass out when I walk through the house. I need to lose weight and was wondering if these symptoms will go away after taking them. I've only taken 4 shots so far. Any answers would be appreciated.

I have a feeling that there’s going to be a huge class action lawsuit with these weight loss drugs in about 5 to 10 years.

Same. It is horrifying how easily people are jumping on this bandwagon. All I keep thinking is about what happens when they stop? Does it all come back? Plus the side effects. Doctors need to encourage better eating habits first.

100%. These meds are horrifying. People are starting to come out saying that these meds made them severely suicidal (after having no ideation previously).

It’s so good that you posted this video so people understand the risks (and there are many). I’m so worried about people who go on this because there are also reports from folks who had SEVERE suicidality this after never having any ideation before. Horrifying.

I was on Otezla(for psoriasis). I had to get off asap due to Severe depression. I was only on 2.5 months. No amount of taking away psoriasis was worth the thoughts I was having. Off and back to my happy self again.

I really need help with this side affects medicine for my husband. He started the shots few weeks ago for his type two diabetes. He is less emotionally and doesn’t care what I told him. Use to be protecting, caring, loving me … doesn’t want to lose me over our marriage but I saw him change so much that hurt me. He told me few days ago that he doesn’t have desire for sex, advice me to find somewhere to satisfy me! I was in shock. He was a jealous man and never wanted to share me to anyone. I was hurt and been crying, upsetting angrily… I dont want sex or cheat on him either. I want his personality comes back to normal but anything I say it does not matter anymore. We married for 23 years and had two grew up daughters. I am 48 and he is 45. His brain is not as the same as before he taken ozempic. He doesn’t care for the wife and the family no more. What can I do to save him!
