    Seriously I've been looking for a video to do power consumption for months! Thanks for making this video.

    Thanks for a great video! I am gravitating towards this model over the Beryl. From a power perspective, I found a post on the GL.iNet forms that indicate 5v/3A should work well with this. They suspected the additional power would be needed for plugging in a spinning USB drive as example. Do you concur? Stated power requirements aside, is there anything that makes the Beryl superior to the Slate? Size difference is negligible to me. Thanks for any help/feedback!

      I agree if you don't plan to connect anything to the USB 3.0 port then a 5V/3A power supply should be sufficient.
      In my personal opinion, the Beryl AX is slightly more travel friendly being more compact and with the added bonus of 2.5GB Lan/2400mbps 5GHz Wi-Fi.

      The Slate AX has a Qualcomm SOC, the Beryl AX uses a Mediatek chip. As a result, the Beryl AX's firmware uses a newer Linux kernel. That should allow it to be more efficient and less susceptible to security flaws. In practice, there's little difference between them. I have both, but use the Beryl AX now.

    I want to use this on the road. Will it overheat when using it in 100 deg temp?

    • @TechWithT
      @TechWithT  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes you might run into some issues given 100°F is on the higher end of its operating temp.

    Great videos! Appreciate the detailed reviews. I am currently testing the Slate AX and the Beryl AX and am trying to decide which to keep. The fact that the Slate AX supports EAP for connecting to larger commercial WiFi networks is a big pull, the size isn't an issue for me, not much difference really. I did some testing using a Belkin 20,000mAh power bank which provides 3mAh per port and it worked really well. I was very interested to see the WiFi speed difference between the Slate AX (approx 300Mpbs) and the Beryl AX (approx 200Mbps). In your experience having used them both for a good amount of time is there any reason apart from size that I should keep the Beryl AX? I will be using this mostly with a Wireguard VPN active most of the time.

      Beryl AX has higher bandwidth both for LAN and Wireless 5ghz network, less power consumption and the form factor I can't really think of any other reason.

    the inverter is drawing additional amps and artificially inflating the power draw. To avoid, plug into the usb ports and use DC current.

      I have checked the number against killawatt reading and found them to be very consistent.

      I would recommend researching to see if your home router has the functionality to run a VPN server or you can install the application on your PC behind your router with the correct firewall rules to act as your VPN server.

    These routers are decent but the reason for their seeming popularity is that GL.iNet has flooded TH-camrs with them for review. Viewers, don't think that there aren't any good alternatives just because of the volume of YT videos about them makes their name more common.

    • @TechWithT

      I see why they do it to keep up with the competition. Surprisingly a lot of folks I know still don't have a clue about them.
