Is it better to do the aces transformation in the nodes or through the project manager?
What is the difference between them?
Thank you for this amazing content.

@Cullen Kelly I work as Colorist and Digital Intermediate for a post production facility that mainly works on documentaries. I love you’re approach and mindset when it comes to grading, but I find that documentary grading leans more towards correction and problem solving. The footage I’m working with is often from multiple cameras spanning multiple years with baked in gammas. Would you still recommend a color managed workflow for this type of grading? I’d love to see a breakdown of your workflow. It seems like you manage the the transforms yourself rather then setting them in the project settings?

What according to you are some of the best colour management solutions. Like aces, tcam, davinci yrgb, etc., Which of these would you recommend for someone to start with

Cullen, can you please make a video about color management in resolve? I'm confused about Input Color Space vs Timeline Color Space vs Output Color Space... Further more there is the transforms as well..

@@CullenKelly I recently watch a video from a channel called “Colour Training” called “Free Live training on How to setup color management…” it was pretty good, can’t wait for yours! Go slow so my little brain can understand it!!

Cullen, I got a Sony FX3 and was wanting to get the best color our of my footage, I am a intermediate of changing color in post and use Premier Pro. I adjust shadows and highlights but like you said, it dont work, I need to learn how to shoot in S-log 3 and do color grading correctly. Im a novice at color grading and used luts in PP with no luck . Please help get me there. Im all into learning as I know thats what makes cinematic awesome footage. One other question , how do I use ACES or a color space in Premier

I see a lot of colorists using either ACES or a color space transform within resolve to get the correct color management like you're describing here. Can you speak to the differences and why you go with ACES instead of the CST?

now i am interested to watch that three aces videos XD.So color management should be part of our mapping. I see different people using color management(luts) at different stages of their grading. some of them at the beginning others at the end or at the middle. what is difference? by the way i am new in this field, I don't know any things about cameras or film making but i like to learn color grading.any advice? :)

You said; "Luts are not the ideal way to technically transform an image for reasons that I'm going to go into in another video"
so , did you make video explane for that ?

Hi Cullen. I'm a bit stuck on colour management settings. My main viewing monitor is a 1080p HDTV as I'm on a budget. When it comes to the settings I'm not really sure what they should be, my settings I use are davinci colour managed, davinci wide gamut and output colour space set to RGB, also the TV is hd, are my setting correct and if not could you advise please as to what the settings should be. Thanks.

@@CullenKelly Yes, I have your video section open in my browser tabs and right now I'm at "Color Grading: Thinking photographically". It will take some time to watch all of them because I must go back and forth between other educational channels and also, when I get to your grading tips, I must have DaVinci Resolve opened so I can practice. It's really fun 😊👍
