Preparations are in full swing for the 77th Independence Day celebrations on Tuesday, August 15 as security arrangements have been beefed up in the national capital and full dress rehearsals of different armed forces also took place at Red Fort in Delhi on Sunday.

- When Muslims could stay in India, why was partition done?
- If partition was done, then why were Muslims allowed in India?
- If India is governed by a constitution, then why do we have a Muslim Personal Law Board?
- When India is a secular nation, why do we have a minority commission?
- If temples are taxed, why not mosques and churches?
- India has 80% Hindus, so why is India not HinduRashtra ?
How can you call Nitish non-sectarian, when he strongly believes in caste, and wants to concretise a vicious social concept with a caste census?

When the country is doing good at least comparatively better than other scam governments , mood is high, economy is going up hill and world has started respecting India and there is a sense of positivity, then here we are jokers like Arfa , Wire , print , karan thapar , news laundry , Abhisbek (that modi basher), Guhas , etc etc start crying and creates this sense of negativity is so hilarious and irritating at the same time to watch.

She's interviewed Vikram sampath often on his work. Sanyal now holds a political office that's averse to her. Sai Deepak is on record saying he wished Barkha left India and never came back! Why would she have such an avowed adversary?

Repeating a 2017 interview after 5 years is pointless. Most of what Dr Ram Guha said then sounds out of place and irrelevant today.
Our democratic system has generated political leaders with huge money which came to politics with modest family background. Most of the political parties are run as family businesses.Even many journalists are happy with this situation.

The way and style that Mr Guha spoke in ,it seemed that he was playing to the galleries. The depth was missing in his statements .It seems he can easily backtrack from a lot of his claims .eg Hailing Nitish ji as a Barack Obama and then withdrawing now lamenting that he did not fulfill his potential .Then why did he compliment him and compare him with such famous people in the first place ? And then also conjuring a montage where he can lead the Congress . Inspite of his foreign education ,his style and manner is reminscent of some of my relatives who have that rustic style where it's all about making grand statements and self centricity . And when they speak ,we others in attendance can just pass wry smiles or shocking glances to each other and let them have their way as interjecting them would upset them .

There is still a long way to go when it comes to the health of Indian democracy, but most of the problems outlined by Dr Ram Guha do exist in the best of democracies. As one of the leading intellectuals of our time, he should also know that democracy is a work in progress. The digital revolution has changed the face of Indian democracy, and it will only get better as the nation matures. The constant jibes he makes at the central government and certain politicians would probably keep him popular amongst a certain section, but it wouldn't serve his credentials. He mentioned Shah Faesal's utterances during the repealing of Article 370, but what Faesal thinks now and what happened to Kashmir is very different!
