Thank you! This video solved my drive shaft issue on my rc. At first I thought the metal shaft was defective i was about to install back the stock plastic shafts. Good thing i came up with this video👍
Much appreciated! My brother send me this, and it coincided with me messing around with driveshafts. I thought that it became worse, but dismissed it. Then I saw the video, went to see what I did, and sure, both are out of phase. 5 minute fix, but without videos like this I would not even consider looking.
See this video. It will demonstrate what your truck was actually doing. I just posted the fix without the background. : ) th-cam.com/video/Idk3BVDVHq4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=WlCEeOfn9D0iKqb6
Thank you. : ) It turns out you can't get the Gen7 driveshafts out if phase. The slip bearing will only assemble correctly. If you get it wrong it won't go together.
Thanks for sharing. I didn't realize until recently that Traxxas drive shafts have alignment marks on their ends. Your vid and the vid you linked helped me understand why. 👍
I swapped axle casings on my mini z 4x4 and for the life of me I swore that I was having a mesh issue with the ring gears. Bought 3 sets and kept breaking the teeth on them. On a whim decided to tinker with the drive shafts because when the truck was fully compressed it drove fine and whatdayaknow both my drive shafts were put back together out of phase.
Welcome. 🙂 I don't make videos to try to be popular or make a million bucks being a TH-camr. I attempt to pass on tribal knowledge as I learn because I believe it helps the hobby. I love my Gen7 too. Its awesome. I have Portals and a Vader skidplate on it plus an SOA servo mount so I could retain the 4-link front suspension. : ) It punches far above its price point.
Some Axial drivedhafts have the word AXIAL printed on both driveshaft halves. An easy way to ensure it is phased is to line the two halves up so both words are in line with each other.
Hi! I've run in to a problem which I thought was the driveshaft. My car runs unevenly and makes a popping sound. I watched this video and was sure this was the problem since my driveshaft didn't align. Took it apart and aligned it but it didn't help. Any ideas? Thank you!
As long as the ends are mirror images of each other its good. If you can't tell any other way, make sure the screws that go into each end of the driveshaft are aligned in a straight line. That will be phased.
@@EXPIOWA So im looking at my RC car from Furitek, right out of the box (no changes). Either someone did it wrong or thats how they intended it. They have it 90 off phase but both sides are mirror opposites of each other, it runs smooth. I know you mentioned that as long as one side is mirror image its fine but they have both sides mirroring each other with the same 90 off phase. Im just confused now. They have a picture of their drive shaft set up on the site.
no god! plz no! dont let me have to undo my driveshafts! ill be here all day!!! what are some of the side effects of a non phased drive shaft? ( I checked im good) The TRX4m they seem to do something different with the drive shaft where you don't have to worry about that at all. Or I cant see
This shows what can happen if itbis out of phase aside from being damaged more quickly. It is a short but really good video. th-cam.com/video/Idk3BVDVHq4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=z4Zlko_qDplF2RKB
Holy cow after 30 years of RC stuff I had forgotten about this, so much thanks buddy

Thank you so much for the video! I have seen at least a hundred videos but only once heard this piece of advice.
You are welcome sir. If you watch the video in the description it shows why it is important.
I've had my Redcat Gen 7 for a year, & everything is still stock. What a beast it is. Thanks so much for sharing your valuable knowledge.
Thank you. : )

Thank you for fixing my TRX-4, my SCX-24 and my sons FTX Outback, and for free too, you’re a legend Sir!
I'm out here saving lives every day. Its what I do. 😀
Awesome video.... Worked like a champ !! Thank you

Well holy moly😂.. off to check my crawlers now. Thanks.
Welcome 😀
pretty great video. I learned something new today. This video and the one you linked to help me understand why this is important. Thanks.
Welcome : )
Thanks for your info and video suggestions. I keep taking my rc apart trying to find out what’s cause my car to vibrate.
Thank you so much.. I reference this video all the time
I appreciate you taking the time to write that. 🙂 Happy new year.
Dude thanks, that's what was causing me issues
Well, that helped out a lot thanks
Thanks, just checked my Deadbolt and the rear was out of phase out the box. Its not out of phase anymore.
Thank you I couldn't figure out why it was kinda surging
thank you. i hadnt heard of that or thought of that.
Welcome

Today years old when I learned this been in rc forever lol never knew
I learned it the same day I made the video. I did not know it previously either. The link I included in the description is really good too.
I also came upon this recently. IT looks like they are always misaligned on SCX24s, unlike they are in phase by chance 😉
My trucks have been apart so many times I can't say what usually arrives in the box. Until now I didn't know to look for it.
Thx!

Mine were both out of phase out of the box. First thing I fixed.
How do I do an axial capra? Just line up the pins that hold the ends on?
As long as the two outer flange yokes are aligned and are an exact mirror of each other in rotational position you are good.
@@EXPIOWA it doesn't have that kind of driveshafts. It's like a all with a pin then you slide it into a sleeve and put a screw through it

Can you post a video so I can see and listen to what it is doing? That would help.
@@EXPIOWA Thats gonna take me a while. Kids and work. I do have pictures I can send you if you have Instagram or Facebook.
@@EXPIOWA I've figured it out but this has to be a common problem with stock knuckles.
@@spellrong If I could listen to it it would be helpful. Pictures Don't tell much about how a thing operates.
@@EXPIOWA Here it is! th-cam.com/video/ytGf3T8hTio/w-d-xo.html
so the driveshfats need to be like this )-( with the C's like that?
