    At the end of the day my family and friends are on the roads and highways, and I would expect all vehicle users to do their job as they are supposed to do in making sure their vehicles are safe to operate on the roads and highways. SAFETY FIRST.

    I personally have gotten a flat during a day putting on 3-500 miles easy. It is all too simple for a random check to occur during that short time it is until your next stop/inspection.

    Just want to put this in here.. While this is a 5 year old video, and the standards for inspections have changed over the years..I'd like to see these sorts of things on the 4-wheeled vehicles on the road: Not just an annual inspection, but a comprehensive evaluation of all the points mentioned in the video., including driver fitness (medical cards, training!) and fatigued driving violations. If it were up to me, I'd put this sort of thing as a safety inspection at toll plazas. When you consider that most accidents on our roads are caused by drivers of the 4-wheeled kind - even accounting for the ratio of vehicles of each type on the road - this actually makes sense.
    Just imagine what issues could be avoided if federal regulations required any motor vehicle operator - not just semi truck drivers - to complete a full pre-trip inspection of their vehicle, when traveling?

    If Truckign companies are like other buisnesses then the 'safety first' is just a slogan but never enforced, they only say it when it looks good but in operation they just tell you to get the job done and ignore safety. Up until something happens then they pretend they never told you to keep working and blame you for the accident.
    Never give into these bullies, if there's unsafe condition and your boss won't deal with it, make an anonymous phone call.

    Funny thing is...some state and local municipal heavy duty trucks are exempt from such inspections. Agencies such as highway departments who operate tandem axle trucks as well as low-boy tractor trailers are never inspected. They run tires to the point of explosion and destruction...to save a dime in the budget. Same with brakes. If our county trucks were inspected, they would all be placed out of service with no possibility to pay for all the needed work. Yet if a local contractor did this with a truck...ticket. Go figure.

    • @gregorydavis4831
      @gregorydavis4831 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      +NeilLB7 So true, municipal vehicles are not inspected here. Get hit by a city, county or state vehicle you're never getting paid for your vehicle.
      Enforcement is all about revenue generation.

    i'm not a truck driver but, comparing and scoring companies against one another is stupid. also stupid: i heard no option given for simply warning a driver or allowing the driver to have violation dismissed after proof of repair. If so much emphasis is on tires, then while the inspection station is open a mobile repair service should be available to do paid on the spot repairs/maintenance. this would prove the goal is safety and not a money grab by the state.

    • @PickleFlopper
      @PickleFlopper 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I know you asked this four years ago, but I figured it’s important to answer.
      As long as the main tread lines do not fall at 4/32nd’s of an inch or below in depth AT ANY POINT of the main treads, you can continue to drive them. If below 2/32nd’s of an inch, it is automatic out-of-service. But remember, with flat spots, they will easily wear faster.

    If they think the driver shortage is bad now..just wait until CSA 2010 is fully implemented. These new regulations are SO over-bearing..it will not only drive away bad carriers and bad drivers....it will also drive away good drivers in huge numbers. Good drivers....who already put up with relatively low pay and low quality of life..will simply throw up their hands in disgust at THIS level of harrassment. Like everything else...it's all about increasing the revenue coming into the state coffers.

    I disagree. If a drivers operate a rig with a flat tire he has either been negligent( subject to fines), or untrained( training required at company expense, fines for failure to supervise pre-trip and OTR equipment checks).
    You can train and talk all you want, but nothing gets attention better than a hardy fine. I don't like the concept but it is the reality.
