  • Did you know that Sydney harbour hosts a thriving and diverse range of marine life?
As part of the Great Southern Reef, Sydney Harbour is one of the most biodiverse harbours in the world. More than 580 different species of fish and 2473 species of polychaetes, crustaceans, echinoderms and molluscs have been recorded in the waters of Sydney Harbour. And that’s what we currently know!
In this video Reef Life Survey Foundation (RLS) volunteer & NSW coordinator, John Turnbull explains how RLS citizen scientists are monitoring trends in marine life across Sydney and Australia-wide as part of the RLS Lap of Aus.
Video by Ocean Imaging with footage provided by John Turnbull.

Hardly any fish for the amount of space that is available. You should have seen thousands of fish. So sad to see the numbers so low

The sea is warming, it’s slowly killing the fish
