That night as we headed back to my Aunt Chris's house we were in a hit and run. Us kids were riding in the back of a pick up truck tired from the days events. Man that was scary to experience. Hi Paul, You are absolutely right--the music of the 80's was epic. I'm a little older and I still remember the 60's, but I would have to defer to the 80's. What great music--they can trash everything later--the 90's and 2000's can be flushed down the toilet--I don't care if I ever hear anything from that time period ever again.

This song reminds me of the day my grandmother passed away, in 1989. We’d driven to my grandparents home and things had quieted down. I was in the living room and this video came on. My mom was crying in her old room next to the living room. I just stood in front of the tv, trying to drown the sound out with the music. I wish I’d turned it off, because it’s taken me about 30 years to listen to the entire song. Some months later, it came on the radio. I mentioned it had come on the day she passed away. My mom said, “It surely did!” R.I.P. to my grandmother and mother. They were two of the sweetest people I’ve ever known.
Aww so so sorry to hear that. I guess this song brings back memories for a lot of people that hears it because as soon as it came on I start reminiscing on my mama and her friends thinking this song
British pop at its best. Crazy how many soulful voices there were at the time in the charts, Lisa Stansfield, Rick Astley, Tony Hadley....And their live performance is still awsome
This song hits differently now. Every time I listen to it. It reminds me of Tony Hughes. He just wanted love and acceptance. It really breaks my heart. He was such a good person. He didn't deserve it, and the other victims too. :(( Rest in peace to all the victims. Fly high angels. 🙏
I can picture why this song fits so well with everything... But the song that makes me think of Tony is "it takes two". The one that is playing when they 2 met at the bar.
I have to agree, unfortunately. This episode hit me the hardest. Hard to not fall for such a sweet soul. With all the odds against him, but he still thrived. So incredibly sad💔
Spent holidays with family back in the day as a child, they had a neighbor who played this loud every single day we were there. Each time I listen I recall that experience; cookies in the jar, pasta and sauce, Tom & Jerry and our coloring books. Memories 😢
I remember her singing this song-LIVE-on Showtime At The Apollo, she sounded-MAGNIFICENT !!! The crowd was standing and cheering her on the entire performance. And she is-GORGEOUS !!! LOL.
Me and my classmates in elementary school really felt this song, lol. We sung our little hearts out like we experienced the uncertainty of a serious relationship.
That scene from Dahmer took me right back to my early childhood in the 90s. The clothes, the music, the atmosphere of them going out. The first show I have seen in a long time that just nailed the atmosphere of the period in question perfectly. All the others just make it a bit too colorful and flashy (especially the 80s, but this I don't remember).
Yeah this song is so fit in with that scene in dahmer series... I feel sorry for Tony May this man can rest in peace and may God forgive you Dahmer Also for the families of the victims can be more stronger above all this...
Really? Most older generations say this about the next generation's music. Just because you personally might not like as many releases nowadays doesn't mean there is no "real music" anymore.

Brenda Johnson: you are 100% correct! For anyone who was a teenager or young adult (15 to 30) back in the 60s/70s/80s/90s, we really came of age in the GOLDEN ERA of the music business. It's amazing to think that teenagers and college age students were listening to such a joyful and sophisticated song like this back in 1989! No auto-tune/insults/n-words/b-words/c-words/sampling. Just well crafted songs, with great musicianship, created by very talented musicians/vocalists! The musical standards were much higher than they are today - for sure. For those of us who "lived it" back in 1989, we really did not know how enduring the contemporary music we were listening to, would become. I am so glad I was there! In closing, thanks to Lisa Stansfield and the musicians who created this masterpiece. Thanks to you Brenda for letting me share! Enjoy! Cheers, Sam.
Lisa was right. Before the internet, it really was hard to find ppl sometime. First time I heard/saw this song was while grabbing some fried chicken at the Hohenfels AAFES Snack bar after a week or two manuevering with the 4-66AR Iron Knights in 1990.

Todo lo padrísimo de esa época y claro si dejar de lado al increíble maestro Barry White y su super orquesta AMOR ILIMITADO desde luego , saludos @ andres
Lisa merci tu na fait danser jai toujours plaisir a t'écoutes ❤
Song brings back the old days. when life was simple and everything seemed authentic. it's an honor to have come up in that era😎.
Song was released in 1997...late 80's...cracky

PROUD to be a child of the 80s'!!
so good love your expl
Hi Paul,
You are absolutely right--the music of the 80's was epic. I'm a little older and I still remember the 60's, but I would have to defer to the 80's. What great music--they can trash everything later--the 90's and 2000's can be flushed down the toilet--I don't care if I ever hear anything from that time period ever again.
One of the best songs ever made period.
There's something about the way videos were shot in the 80s-94. Just gives off a nostalgic feel like no other. Respect to those artist 🙏🏿
Most definitely. It captures the essence of nostalgia.

Stuart we need more 80's-90's music! The stuff on the radio today just isn't the same.
@@debsgren5855 oh I don't know, Debra, we had some absolute dross back then as well. It's just that, like the pain of childbirth, we've mercifully forgotten about them and only remember the bangers like this one 😃 there's a lot of good stuff around today, it's just different to what I listened to when I was a teenager
As a 1989 baby ... I love this ❤️❤️❤️

She recorded this complete vocal in only TWO takes in the studio!
House of the rising sun from the animals was a one take, the music, the singing, the video. Try topping that lol
@@Gappys5thTesticle The lead guitar was giggling at the end of the video, ruining the shot. But the dumb director kept it in.
😮🎉🙌❤
That's impressive 💕🥳🎉🎉🌟
@@keianasimmons9524 Yes! And that’s so sweet!! ❤️❤️❤️

I'm sorry. I hope you have many beautiful memories of your mom and grandmother that ease your pain.

Essa musica toca a alma!🥰🥰🥰
British pop at its best. Crazy how many soulful voices there were at the time in the charts, Lisa Stansfield, Rick Astley, Tony Hadley....And their live performance is still awsome
Yep, used to love Rick Astley!
Blue eyed soul!
Soulful slow down killer😂😂😂
Hi Maria, how are you doing
You forgot Swing Out Sister.
This song hits differently now. Every time I listen to it. It reminds me of Tony Hughes. He just wanted love and acceptance. It really breaks my heart. He was such a good person. He didn't deserve it, and the other victims too. :((
Rest in peace to all the victims.
I don't get it
Oh no,I am very sorry to hear this
Tony Hughes?
Good old 80's ... Sound, style, mystery, personality .... miss it.
@Rabby Ahmed Musa 1989 actually
@Rabby Ahmed Musa So your correction was unnecessary, not mine
It's sort of transitionional but still 80's ... my humble opinion.
This song is still legendary. Wow.
My baby ,he's long gone xxx
Spent holidays with family back in the day as a child, they had a neighbor who played this loud every single day we were there. Each time I listen I recall that experience; cookies in the jar, pasta and sauce, Tom & Jerry and our coloring books. Memories 😢
you should listen to: Laura Branigan - Never In a Мillion Years (1990) 🌹
Lisa has such a powerful voice. Don't you love it! ❤❤❤❤❤
you definitely should listen to: Laura Branigan - Never In a Million Years (1990) 🌹
Fantastic song. You can feel her sincerity and feeling in her voice. We need more music like that. Thank you Lisa Stansfield.
I remember her singing this song-LIVE-on Showtime At The Apollo, she sounded-MAGNIFICENT !!! The crowd was standing and cheering her on the entire performance. And she is-GORGEOUS !!! LOL.
Yep! I CONCUR!! ManyThanx

This song is perfect,her voice,performance,audio,lyrics ....
This woman really has a 100% soul in her voice, many has soul but not a 100%
The harmony at 3:50 gets me EVERY time 😩🔥💕
you could tell she meant it. 😂🤣🔥🔥
Yeesss😍😍
Never heard any better harmony than that!
Me and my classmates in elementary school really felt this song, lol. We sung our little hearts out like we experienced the uncertainty of a serious relationship.
My momma was in her second trimester when this song came out. She use wonder why she kept feeling me kicking...
I was in the 4th grade when this came out
Lol didn't know what we were singing about but swore in middle school, we knew heart ache!!!😂😂😂

I wonder if Lisa ever found her baby or at least that she had a nice trip around the world. Still love this tune. What a voice!
The music of the late 80s and early 90s. Good times.
This was number one in the UK in late 1989 and in the USA in early 1990.
Pardon me, it was 20 years ago and I'm not as young as I used to be. But you get my point.
Bellissima stupenda
Stephanie Gittinger I was 18 and visiting La Purisima Mission in So. Cal. I love her music.
Sho! U right!!
We were just watching that episode and I started signing along, old school 90s
I knew it was a reason why this song was stuck in my head i forgot all about the Dahmer series playing this song
Yeah this song is so fit in with that scene in dahmer series...
I feel sorry for Tony
May this man can rest in peace and may God forgive you Dahmer
Also for the families of the victims can be more stronger above all this...
She put her whole entire soul into this song! Her singing hits you in the gut!❤

Longevity that's lacking these days.
She nailed this.
I can't believe this song came out in 1989. It sounds like it came straight out of the 90s. I guess you can say it set the blueprint for the decade.
I heard the song again today after many years. I had goosbumps and put it firmly on my top 100 favourite songs ! Those violins !!!
Back then when music still deserved the term music.....
Really? Most older generations say this about the next generation's music. Just because you personally might not like as many releases nowadays doesn't mean there is no "real music" anymore.
Your right they need to bring back the real music that had heart and soul
💜💜💜 Lisa Stansfield
This song takes me straight back to my teenage days... 🥰😍

Me too
Wooh..... Way. .. Back in the day. Unlike what we have today. Classic, Style ,class and beautiful .
Brenda Johnson Yea, Rhianna nor Beyonce can hold a candle to this! 🔥🔥🔥
EXACTLY Brenda

"in a minute" is one of the greatest expressions in the English language.
Lisa was right. Before the internet, it really was hard to find ppl sometime. First time I heard/saw this song was while grabbing some fried chicken at the Hohenfels AAFES Snack bar after a week or two manuevering with the 4-66AR Iron Knights in 1990.
Lisa Stanfield is one of those artists who you *never* get tired of listening to.
There's something therapeutic about this song.
