I have tried many many manyyy orchid related channels but this one is so special! I can feel the atmosphere of the greenhouse and peace of the place :) Every time I am watching your video I am dreaming about having such place myself in the future and enjoy every plant and every flower like you do! Please continue with your videos, I think you bringing a lot of enthusiasts into this hobby and you definitely made me building my first display cabinet for miniature orchids, thanks!
Hi Howard, you have such beautiful varieties of orchids in all sizes and are so knowledgeable. It brings me joy to see them especially the blooms and how you explain each one of the ones you’re holding. They all seem to be super happy with you.
Hi Howard I hope you and your wife are well, thank you for the reply, you have probably the best grown collections I have seen, and perfect growing conditions, I have a small Angraecum viguera which has flowered once and is just putting a second flower spike on but your plant is magnificent, I do have a very large isabelia pulchella which is growing on a large gorse branch wich has just finished flowering and find I now have 2 seed pods. I have learned quite a bit watching the way you are growing them, thank you Howard your talkes are interesting. Regards, David.
Howard your videos are always such a treat, I love your explainations of how you grow these amazing plants and the knowlegdge you have and the fact you give all the full proper names in text as well as saying when you know them is so helpful. Thank you for posting
No need to apologise for frequency of video. Your videos are excellent and appeal to we growers with a few years experience under our belts and inspiring and informative to all.
Thank you for your videos! I watch them from Italy! I love your wonderfull orchids collection and your beautiful greenhouse...I have about 40 orchids and listening to you I learn more and more about orchids!!! Thank you!
Dear Howard, I'm enjoying all your videos so much. Thank you! Could you make a video on how you're building the wooden cage pots and how you're mounting your orchids? That would be great 😊
That angraecum from Madagascar is cool. I also discovered that auto translate function, its very useful though the translations are sometimes hilarious😂
I've recently found your channel and love watching your videos. I've learnt so much already, and now committed to taking better care of some inherited orchids. Your miniatures are exquisite.
Hello, Howard, I've been enjoying your videos of your beautiful greenhouse and beautifully grown collection. My own collection consists mainly of flamboyant Cattleyas and Odontoglossums, but I really appreciate scented orchids as well (all big-flowered Cattleya species and hybrids are fragrant, btw. - some very heavily so). I've got a Disa hybrid - Glasgow Orchid Conference - which smells like sweet baked good, and two Pescatorias - klabochorum and ecuadorana - which smell like sandal wood. Seeing as your greenhouse is on the cooler side, maybe you'd be able to accommodate some of the old Odontoglossums? The species naevium is fragrant (at least my specimen is, but it's one of those fragrances which is neither attractive nor unpleasant - it's just kind of there).
I don't do well with odontoglossums. I have naevium but struggle to grow it. On average I think my greenhouse is on the warm side for it to be happy. Currently mine are outside and they have done a bit better than other years but still do not really thrive. Coelogynes on the other hand normally grow well under my conditions. I should really stick with things that do well but can't resist trying new things. That's half the fun and sometimes a plant does well that you wouldn't expect.
@@HowardRice I have Odontoglossum naevium currently flowering and two crispums in spike. It's difficult to keep them cool enough during the summer months, but I keep them outside in a sheltered spot so that they can at least get the night time drop in temperature. It is definitely my impression that - while certainly a cool grower - naevium is able to tolerate periods of higher than ideal temperatures slightly better than crispum.
I really enjoy your videos. Very instructive and relaxing at the same time. Your collection is beautiful and unique. I love stanhopeas but my growing conditions are way too hot and it is a constant fight to keep her alive. I have kill a couple already 🤷🏻♀️ unfortunately. Your angraecum is beautiful. Thanks for sharing. 💚
Great video, enjoyed your update and lovely blooms, thanks for sharing. Love those b.perrinii blooms, and love to have one but every time I tried to buy there wasn't a good plant for sale, just one or two pseudobulb ! Do you give them winter drier rest to have the blooms?
Hi Mary, They are definitely kept on the dry side in winter and seldom misted but this is to guard against rotting more than anything else. You know how dreary and cold our winters can be! I'm not sure how important a dry rest is in order to initiate flowering.
A few months ago i asked you how to best care for Dendrochilum filiforme and D. yuccifolium or Coelogyne filiforme and and C. yuccifolia as they are called right now. Anyway, i wanted to thank you for your help, the C. yuccifolia is currently in full bloom and while i have not noticed a strong scent it does smell like lime when you get very close. The C. filiforme has taken much longer for the spikes to fully develop. They are only just now starting to extend and will hopefully open up in a few weeks. Thanks and also thank you for the interesting video today i really enjoy them despite beeing more of an aroid buff myself. Cheers, DN
Really enjoying your Videos. Just relaxing! I purshased a stanhopea this spring. Four weeks ago i noticed the First flower Spike. How Long needs the Spike to Develope into a Open flower?
I haven't timed it but I'm guessing around 4 weeks. They expand very rapidly towards the end so don't go away when it gets to that stage otherwise you might miss it.
Well, there are quite a few that I've watched recently. My method is to search the latin name of an orchid and then look at the results wherever they might be in the World. For example, I was trying to find out more about Lepanthes and found this channel's marvellous video on pleurothallids th-cam.com/video/An3cz6zJT90/w-d-xo.html
@@karlsorchidparty2395 There also seem to be some very good growers in Russia. I like to believe that anyone who loves orchids isn't dumb enough to support Putin. I hope it's true.
But in this line we can think of our own oligodemocratic governments.... It is a shame. God money rules & everyone is enslaved; including our poor nature.
Always a delight to step into your green house Howard!

That's fine😌🙏💞Mounted Neofinetia falcata is the best way because they have the same habits as Vandas, and look at the results! marvelous👏👏👏

Wonderful Video Mr. Howard ! Have you ever visited the Kew Gardens? I've heard their Orchid collection quite a sight to behold.
Kew Gardens have a huge collection of orchids although they are mostly in glasshouses that are not open to the public.
