I think I like mario hoops 3 on 3 better but this was pretty cool. I can't be the only one who wants a remake or another version of that game right? Sports mix was cool but didn't have as much tactics like mario hoops. But in the end there both great games
I would like a Mario Sports Mix sequel with all the characters from Hoops and Mix together (So bring back Birdo, Dixie Kong, Paratroopa, Boo and Fly Guy and keep Toad, Miis and Slime) and also some newcomers, like Rosalina, Pauline, Toadette and others.) They could also add a 5th sport and add more courts and items
Really sucks that hardly anyone knows of the Final Fantasy inclusion, as FF fan that appreciates the classics this made me so happy that they didn't add any modern ones, just old school and its so perfect. I really love their take on White Mage looking like a Mario Princess.
As a White Mage player, hitting on the "sweet spot" (the middle of her blast, which is also where the ball is and where her magic is the strongest) of her special in dodgeball is so satisfying. I love seeing the impact sound and my opponent sent flying. On the other hand, I hate it when they only get caught in the end of the blast, so underwhelming

I used to play this a lot, ever since my brother bought it. It's really awesome that they added Final Fantasy characters plus the dragon quest mascot, Slime. Waluigi's ability to do his special 4 times allows completely insane comebacks if you aim right. I notice that this is most effective in dodgeball and volleyball. Put simply, waluigi can and will kick your ass into oblivion if he can land his shots

I can understand the point that Wario's Supershot is indeed counterproductive since it obscures _your_ visuals on your opponents, which is the opposite of what you want. But Wario was my main on the game, and I can say that his Supershot isn't harmful to him at all. Ineffective (in comparison to other sports) and harmful aren't really the same, in fact I have been struck by several Wario Supershots in online multiplayer play. So it requires more skill to utilize and is overall less effective, but calling it harmful is a stretch. As you said, Daisy is good at defense while Wario is good at offense, so their Powershots shouldn't have been made more powerful (they were nerfed after playtesting, as complaints arose that those two were overpowered). As for what the other person said about Tricky types, it's a weak point. Wario and Daisy are not Tricky types, and even then, they've misunderstood what Tricky means. It does not mean that the character is more difficult to play, it means that the character has a high trick stat, allowing them to use more curve balls, quicker layups, and more movements to throw opponents off. Ironically, characters with the "Tricky" class are _easier_ to use, and they have _better_ Supershots, not worse ones. If I'm being honest, many characters have poor Supershots for Hockey. Mario, Luigi, Peach (depending on the map), Slime, etc. For Mario, all you have to do is literally shake the remote. For Luigi, just stay behind the goal until he prepares the shot, then move in and block it- and so on. Laughably bad Supershots for Hockey, and it's why Hockey was considered the most difficult sport to master, as Supershots tilt the tide of the game very little if you're in a losing position, and the AI can block the goal extremely effectively. As a whole, Hockey is a rather tedious sport to play, and it can truthfully come down to luck on many occasions. So while Daisy's Supershot is poor, I think a broader criticism is to be made of the Hockey sport as a whole. Square Enix fumbled it quite badly, even if I still enjoyed playing Hockey more often than not. Unfortunately, certain design choices were made that I still criticize to this day, but my outlook on the game remains positive. I personally don't see a bad Powershot as an indicator that the character itself is unplayable by any means, and you don't always have to be reliant on it.

By themselves, Wario and Daisy are generally good characters to use, Daisy is a good defensive player while Wario for Offense. Both a similar by having some of the worst power shots in the game.
They're also not tricky characters, they are a technical and power respectively. A true Tricky character can be someone like Black Mage.

It does, it actively affects wario's ability to hit enemies with them being covered by the gas, preventing him to see where they are at. The goal of Dodgeball is hit the opponents with the ball, not away from them. And Wario's powershot hinders him from doing so. It's the only time in the game where a powershot HELPS the enemy instead of hindering them.

It's not decent, its ridiculously terrible. It does not cover that large of an area, and she fire's the shot very slow. All you need to do against it is simply get in the way of the shot. It's one of the easiest shots to block. And yea, Mario and Luigi's have that problem too, but at least they actually have something to impede the enemy to intercept the shot.
I can understand the point that Wario's Supershot is indeed counterproductive since it obscures _your_ visuals on your opponents, which is the opposite of what you want. But Wario was my main on the game, and I can say that his Supershot isn't harmful to him at all. Ineffective (in comparison to other sports) and harmful aren't really the same, in fact I have been struck by several Wario Supershots in online multiplayer play. So it requires more skill to utilize and is overall less effective, but calling it harmful is a stretch. As you said, Daisy is good at defense while Wario is good at offense, so their Powershots shouldn't have been made more powerful (they were nerfed after playtesting, as complaints arose that those two were overpowered).
As for what the other person said about Tricky types, it's a weak point. Wario and Daisy are not Tricky types, and even then, they've misunderstood what Tricky means. It does not mean that the character is more difficult to play, it means that the character has a high trick stat, allowing them to use more curve balls, quicker layups, and more movements to throw opponents off. Ironically, characters with the "Tricky" class are _easier_ to use, and they have _better_ Supershots, not worse ones.
If I'm being honest, many characters have poor Supershots for Hockey. Mario, Luigi, Peach (depending on the map), Slime, etc. For Mario, all you have to do is literally shake the remote. For Luigi, just stay behind the goal until he prepares the shot, then move in and block it- and so on. Laughably bad Supershots for Hockey, and it's why Hockey was considered the most difficult sport to master, as Supershots tilt the tide of the game very little if you're in a losing position, and the AI can block the goal extremely effectively. As a whole, Hockey is a rather tedious sport to play, and it can truthfully come down to luck on many occasions. So while Daisy's Supershot is poor, I think a broader criticism is to be made of the Hockey sport as a whole. Square Enix fumbled it quite badly, even if I still enjoyed playing Hockey more often than not.
Unfortunately, certain design choices were made that I still criticize to this day, but my outlook on the game remains positive. I personally don't see a bad Powershot as an indicator that the character itself is unplayable by any means, and you don't always have to be reliant on it.
