I love ur story and agree. Grew up in Louisiana taking baths with my nanny's 2 kids that were black, in a huge metal outdoor basin. Mom died when I was eight. I'm 55 now. I loved that woman and she was my fill-in momma when I needed her. Classy lady that taught me so much.

Man does not curse and tell s funny stories about how he grew up and what life in Mississippi was like. Its all jokes and good ones at that. people grow up and enjoy, laughter is the best medicine!

Jerry was a great American. My entire family would travel all over the United States listening to this great American. I'm from Jackson, Mississippi and my daddy loved to tell stories and one of his idols was Jerry Clower. By the way, as a black man, I think Jerry was one of the best comedians ever. Knock him out Jonnnhn!! I was stationed in Germany and would listen to Jerry to bring my mind right back to Mississippi.

I graduated from Mississippi College in Clinton MS and when they announced the commencement speaker as Jerry Clower, I was pissed. I spent a lot of money on my education and now we have a comic for the graduation speaker. Well boy oh boy was I wrong. Mr Clower gave the very best graduation speech I have ever heard and I was proud to shake his hand when I got my diploma. What an amazing person. I miss him so much. Thanks for reading.

All I can say is is a damn shame that certain groups make this kind of comedy against social acceptance to put it kindly.
But what they fail to realise is that Jerry was born and raised in a different time and this is why he has honest to goodness great stories and that is exactly what they are. What he says is not racist or discriminatory it is just the stories of his life as he lived them simple as that.

No unfortunately there will not because the people of today would plainly hate them out of a career if anyone dared to tell stories like his and that says more about what kind of people they then it says about anyone then the person they are talking about.
The sad fact is he was raised in a different time when things were harder and you had work your ass off to get ahead and he was one of the lucky that was able to talk about his life and make a profit and one of few that used that to give back. Great loves for him and all he stood for and very sad we will not see another like him.❤💔

Thanks to these recordings we can remember that generation (my parents')
even though almost all have gone to be with the Lord.
My daddy's family were sharecroppers, moved place to place in Sunflower County
Mississippi in the twenties, thirties and forties and to hear them tell stories when I
was a kid, that family was the luckiest family on earth, it seemed to me.

I am a 50 yr old black man from Ky. Jerry Clower along with Jerry Reed, Ray Stevens and The whole HeeHaw gang kept me in stiches for most of my teen years. I have never heard a racist word from any of them. I don't know what they said in the privacy of their own kitchen but it was always funny stuff just like Richard Pryor minus cussin'.
