Anna, thank you sooooo much for sharing your trip to the farm! What an educational trip it was; you are, without a doubt, a most kind and thoughtful person; you have shared the wing-to- wing process of yarn making; I count myself an extremely fortunate person to receive the education you provide as I live in a large city and I am deprived of the wonders and gifts of our wonderful nature. I am in awe of how generous sheeps are and have been to us humans by providing the raw material to cloth us!! May you continue to prosper in all your endeavors, and once more, thank you so very much!! 😊

After watching this episode, I cleaned my house and had this super weird thought: can you think that it is possible to collect my cat hair, wash it, spin it.... all the fun stuff and knit it? a blanket for himself haha!

I loved this episode, Anna! I was actually watching while I was outside dyeing my Shetland yarn and it was so nice to have your company while I was waiting for the dye pot to finish :) I was thinking a lot of you because of all of your discussions of hand dyeing. I ended up with a pretty red and a blue--both overdyed on top of a natural light brown. I really enjoyed your segment about the farm/mill visit as well. Such adorable sheep. It reminded me of the farm/mill that Spencer and I visited in NY a few years back--they had all of the HUGE, old carding equipment, too. And I'm curious to learn more about the lanolin--not only where to buy it in the states (I have not looked into it yet)--but also about the problem of pesticides that you discuss. Spencer has long theorized that we could extract the lanolin from the fleece I wash . . . I suspect it would be more difficult that it seems anyway, but I'm also glad we've never tried! Happy knitting to you! I'm off to catch up on your EYF episode! Thanks!! ~Melissa

I am just smitten with how your shawl came out. I paused the video a few times to get a good look at it. I have similar (very roughly) yarn and hope to make one also. I love the delicate one-knit in the center. I also never liked tassels before this moment. haha! Thank you for sharing it with us.

Your shawl is beautiful, and so are you! Every episode is a delight. I reserve them for times when I can pour a cup of coffee or tea, enjoy a delicious cookie, and top it off with a lovely podcast treat. I always learn something new, and you do an excellent job of teaching, informing, and inspiring. The farm was so interesting - I wish we had something similar here on west coast of the US. Maybe I could be your American mom. 😊❤️

Ever thought of setting up a Lanolin-cleaning lab yourself? ;) It would be an amazing project to develope a method that can be done effectively in a smaller lab...
I am a geneticist and since the MinIon was released by Oxford nanopore I dream of a genetics-lab in my apartment... You know, sequencing just for fun. How awesome would be your own Lanolin purifying lab?

    • @dunkelgrun1425

oh yes, that´s very true... but maybe one day you meet someone who has a running lab and can get a PhD-student to develope something ;)
