    Excellent job.
Whenever i build flowing water into my van i also wanted to do warm water supply as the last camping with cold water only was stressful

Hot water makes a big difference. I sleep much better after I've had a shower

Great Video John, can't wait to get ours up and running! - Would love to see it running on 230v for hot air / water, power draw and times before hot air / water.
    Thanks!

Thank you! Looking forward to hearing how you get on. I have already run it on electricity for hot air. It draws 1860W and is silent. I didn't test the water heating with it yet. I intend to do some tests in the winter perhaps including fuel consumption.

When air heating, does this alternate the output between high and low like a cheap Chinese diesel heater or does it automatically vary the pump rate to adjust heat output and stay consistent?

Hi John, thanks for sharing these videos. I am interested in this heater combo. I see you also have IoT videos. Did you look into the steering of this unit ? Would be cool if we could get an esp in between there to control the system instead of that control panel.

Lol. Yes, it's on my list. I asked JP for the serial protocol but they said no so I'll have to do it the hard way - lol

@@Magic-Smoke Would be awesome if you could reverse engineer (part of) the protocol. It is unbelievable that in RV's you end up with a display/control for each and every technical solution ... While it would be so interesting to let the battery capacity, solar, weather prediction influence the decision to heat using gas or electricity.

Hi John. I'm into much the same sort of things as you (IoT, ESPs, and of course a van build with this heater!) Have you thought about how to add IoT to it? I'm a keen mountain walker, and love the idea of being able to turn the heating on 10-15 minutes before I get back to the van! I've been trying to get the details of the interfaces from JP Heat .... but of course they just want to sell me their 'soon to be released' - if it ever happens!

I have been considering reverse engineering the controller serial output. I asked them if they would share but unsurprisingly, they said no so I'll have to hack it if I ever get time!

    Cheers

I hadn't planned to but if you have any questions, maybe I can help.

I would also be interested in how you connected it all up, I wanted to use the JG speed fit like pipes like you seem to have used but need to see how to connect that to the heater.

      @@hasasanator Hi Hassan, I used a 10mm compression to 12mm speedfit adapter.

Hey! It's been a year now. How is it? Would you still recommend it?

Its been great! I stayed in the van during the cold snap in December and was toasty warm with just the electric on low. Used diesel to heat the van up rapidly - very pleased overall.
