Once I saw Mick Gordon on this documentary I was hooked. The OST for Killer instinct is one of the best out there. Glad you're giving this one a shout-out. Thanks dood.
Hope he makes the soundtrack if a new KI is in the works.
I think Max was involved in the latest iron Galaxy /double helix KI. If I remember correctly
I liked the OST when I first got Killer Instinct back on the SNES. But I loved the OST when KI Gold was released for N64.
KI always had great OST
My favorite part was when told how fixing Jago's engage actually gave options to counter him instead of just doing what people wanted, not many teams has the passion to go deep the problem regardless of short term backlash

NO LIE: MICROSOFT needs to get everyone(like literally everyone from Double Helix, Iron Galaxy, Rare and fans of the game)back, give them like 2 or 3 years and create the next Killer Instinct for Xbox Series X. That will be a mic dropper.
The first time i saw the "Counter-Breaker" in the house of a friend I lose my mind over the damage, it was so cool
I remember walking into one of my local arcades back in 94 and seeing KI and being totally blown away. I was like what the hell is this! I was just blown away by the graphics, the sound, and the combos were incredible! Fast forward a year later in 95 I walked into Price Club now Costco with my mom to buy some socks and I end up walking out with KI on the SNES. I couldn't believe I had that game in my hands! Black cartridge, killer cuts CD and all in it's full glory! Some great days right there!

Honestly after watching that documentary I think that KI 2013 is the best fighting game ever made. From its passionate devs and fanbase to its insane gameplay and history, it really is just one of a kind

I've been listening to you talk about games for a few months now and I have to say you are a "rare" breed of youtubers that actually go beyond the surface of a game and actually know what it takes to make and develop a game. Your work has paid off; for a company like Rare to involve you in their inner working proves this. Your ability to intelligently analyze a game and explain why is refreshing to hear.

I gotta thank you DOOD, being in quarantine for like 90 days has destroyed me, and only playing tekken 7 with that netcode and the not so reliable internet here in argentina was sickening at points, so I was like "I gotta find some other fighting game to play and not just tekken". Then, after watching so many videos of you talking about how KI is awesome and shit I said "let's try it". Fucking hell, I've been having so much fun just labbing characters and jumping online to fight lots of people with a very good connection that I can`t believe I slept on this game for so long. Thank you for inspiring me to try something that I end up loving

KI is what got me watching this channel back during season 1. It is still my favorite fighting game to watch.
Dood, your original reaction when they announced KI (yes I have been watching you for over 7 years) was so awesome that I sometimes just hunted it down to rewatch it cause it was so funny. I as so SO glad that they put your reaction in the KI documentary. It made me laugh all over again.
I happened to watch this documentary the other day and you really feel the passion the devs had for this. When I hot my xbox I downloaded KI but never played it as I just stopped playing fighting games for some reason. I recently picked up KI and man I'm so disappointed I didn't play this game sooner. If my younget self who played KI on the super NES and N64 knee i left it so long he'd kill me lol.
I actually watched this doc when it dropped and I thought it was amazing. A true Cinderella story if it could be claimed as one.

Dude... I'm an aspiring video game developer, and after I finish my sidescroller puzzle test game, I plan to work on a fighting game myself. This is so helpful in so many ways, and it's so amazing to hear that you often gave input about a fighting game series that you're so passionate about. This is why I love the video game community. Just a bunch of people playing games, having fun, and improving the worlds created by the titanic giants we've grown up with and very much enjoy.

I'm glad you started talking about this recently, as someone who's never owned an Xbox I never even heard of KI. It's on steam now and you brought it to my attention.
Takes me right back to the reveal of KI coming back for Xbox One. I cried! I was that kid, back at middle school, playing original SNES KI for the first time. That game series transcended decades for me. I still love it and always will.

Everything about that game is just a dream. I can just play for an hour in menus with the KI theme playing note by note each time you move the cursor.

Why is Max's wind kick impression SO good.
Seeing this video made me watch that documentary first. It may have single-handedly rekindled my spirit in fighting games. Like I've been mad depressed because of all the negativity going on in the world, in gaming, on gaming messageboards. Watching that video was so feel good, like the passion that everyone shared in working on the game was so freaking organic. It took me back to when I saw this game in a arcade at a mall 25 years ago and did not want to leave. It took me back to seeing screenshots of the CGI scenes in EGM and being like "No Freaking WAY!!" Damn I'm getting taken back.
I love things like this. This was awesome! And Killer Instinct has some of the best music on a fighting game ever in my opinion.

I remember seeing the trailer for KI 2013 while i was on break. I remember just jumping up and down in the parking lot estatic that a fighting game i thought id never see again come back. It was the ONLY reason i bought an xbox one.

I always wanted to play KI since its announcement, I kinda forgot about it as I was stuck with PS4 gaming, I watched this and it got me so hyped, so I bought it and right now im practicing, such a good documentary
You can play KI free without even getting an Xbox1 if you already have a decent PC. Either way the game is fantastic and it's my favorite fighting game franchise!

I never was even interested in fighting games at all until I saw Max and his hype for KI. I'm not a player, still, but I do love watching other people play because of his passion.
I am 44 years old right now I was like 17 about to turn 18 at that time
3:10 When I first went to college for computer animation in the early 2000's, for the first animation class i had we were still using SGI machines. Omg SOOOO damn hard to use! They kept reminding us how expensive they were too.
The semester after my first class is when they finally upgraded their workstations, I think they went with all Dell machines.
When i saw the arcade for the first time i stared a couple hours too it. That sound, those grafics, the funky characters... it was just magic. And also i couldn't play on it because the boss of the arcade was (for hours)....great memories.
my local mall has a n ice rink surrounded by 8 stories of retail space surrounding it. There was a Q-Zar (laser tag) on floor 3 and it had a KI arcade machine. Since the space right out side the Q-zar was very big and echoed.. whenever an ultra or combo breaker happened you could hear it very loudly in the entire space surrounding the ice rink. I used to go in there as sabrewulf and spend 1 quarter and beat all comers. Doing an Ultra combo on them was so loud it actually hurt my ears standing in front of the machine lol
I never realized Max made the Spinal trailer!! I have long said that's one of the greatest video game trailers I've ever seen, bar none. It's the trailer that made me just go mad for KI 2013. That's amazing, Max. Well done, truly a legend.

You know max in some ways revived my childhood with videos of mortal Kombat and whatever else. What is cool is that the support he gets for his videos from fans and even his wife supports him, you see her in back getting herself settled on bed beginning of this react video. You can tell she is use to him doing this and Benny! Glad Benny is doing alright the old guy

KI needs to come back for the series X. Can you imagine how Awesome it would look. As for characters they would have to make only originals lol but as for Guest Characters there should be: Master Chief, Joana Dark, Stranger (from Odd world Strangers Wrath) and then 90s Lara Croft

My parents owned a bar in 1994 and I remember clearly when we received the KI arcade cabinet, I was 16 and couldn't believe it was there... I saw this game at an arcade months earlier, and yeah, that thing screamed like crazy. For me, this game is the definition of arcade machines, loud, fun and visually striking. Nothing came close to that at that time, it was revolutionary. So much memories...

Hi Max. First, I just wanted to say that I've been watching your videos for years, but haven't subscribed because I'm a closet TH-cam addict. Fix that today.
Second. I grew up in arcades, and absolutely love video games... But somewhere in adulthood I let it fall by the wayside and got left behind in the gaming world. I recently built a monster of a gaming PC in some midlife crisis stunt, and have been struggling to find games that I want to play on this thing 😂. I loved KI as a kid and I remember even wearing out that Killer Cuts CD on long trips around the province (yep... Canada)... And while I knew there was a new one out there, I hadn't payed much attention to it.
Your unabashed passion for this game and this documentary detailing just how much fan service went into it got me up off my ass to purchase it and I have to tell you.. You are not wrong. What a great game... And it feels like it was tailored to tug at the heartstrings of a middle aged arcade fan like me. I didn't know you worked on it.. Or any game in fact... Until I watched that documentary... Kudos to you and the entire KI team.
I may find a use for this machine yet 😂

As a playstation main. KI is the only reason I would buy an xbox and it would be more hype than any ps5 game announcement imo.
i got an xbox one for KI launch day. got the ps4 2 years later. still, KI is my favourite and IMHO one of the best games in this generation. im going PS5 for next, but if a new KI is announced, i'l get the series X as well. (overall, i play most stuff on PC- just happens my most played game types are better on PC -fps, rpg)
I stumbled upon this documentary a month or so ago, and it’s part of the reason I got back into the game. Very well down and incredibly informative.
But it’s crazy this game succeeded considering the hurdles that had to be jumped through. Hot damn.
When you think of XBOX you think of Halo, Gears, and Forza. If Microsoft was smart they would push KI to be part of that fraternity. They should absolutely be developing a new KI. If Microsoft was smart, and if they trying to compete with that PS5 presentation they should have it ready to show at there presentation in July.

They should make a killer instinct tag battle and tag ultra combos by having both player of 1 team synchronized the button sequence to be successful on ultra killer combo
