I completely agree, I actually loved Halo 4 which is what made Halo 5 so painful. If they had just made a sequel to this game, including elements from Hunt the Truth and Spartan Ops?? Could have been amazing.
Halo 4 didn't have something. It altered the course of halo forever to die. The concept of the didact and 343's version of the forerunner is terrible. Plus Halo 4 isn't even a good game if you disregard it's story it has the worst sandbox and balancing out of the series and it has me wanting to rip my hair out just playing on normal difficulty. I went into the game trying to have a positive mindset but left having had one of the worst gaming experiences of my life. The Prometheans are terrible enemies.
Looking back on what I know of Halo lore, this shouldn't have happened to begin with. The Halo 3 terminals say that he and Librarian were separated before the Halos fired and neither could get to back to each other. A better villain would have been Mendicant Bias, or part of its remaining consciousness that was still corrupted by the Flood and then imprisoned on Requiem. It would have paired with Cortana's Rampancy and potentially set her up to become what she was in Halo Infinite.
I agreed. Even it would be better to makes that the Didact returned like a cybernetic being in Halo 5, and that he was the founder of The Created, than revives Cortana and makes her evil. Making the Didact like the Sephiroth of Halo.
Tell me about it. I remember being so fucking excited that they were FINALLY releasing Halo 4. I had been a super halo nerd for years before it, reading all the books that were released up to that point.
Well, much like some overpowered villains, like Albert Wesker or Sephiroth, that prefers be toying with the protagonists, than kills them inmediately, making that their arrogance and hubris end becoming their undoing, to gaves the heroes a chance to defeat the villains.

The fact he demonized and dehumanized the covenant forces yet resembling a tiny amount of respect for humanity shows how much of a threat ancient humanity was
I love how the didact casually scales higher than any character we’ve seen in halo. This guy beats characters like homelander, thanos, and hulk. Chief is pretty powerful but he scales only to characters like iron man, black panther, and extreme diff soldier boy.
wtf are you talking about? Didact beats Thanos? Homelander? I agree he is the strongest character introduced in the halo games, but how does that equal him beating thanos and homelander?
@@Skeptic_Tank he beats thanos. The didact can dismantle characters who lift in the same range as thanos. Homelander would be incinerated by the didacs weapons.
@@Skeptic_TankThe Didact’s Combat Skin makes him, for lack of a better term, akin to a Kryptonian in strength, durability, speed, reflexes, agility, flight (including spaceflight), etc. This is cannon. A Forerunner’s secondary skin literally grants them the capability to conduct *interplanetary travel.* Also, despite The Didact’s immense power, he still doesn’t eclipse the psionic capabilities that The Geavemind ultimately possesses.
after epitaph i would highly doubt hes coming back. epitaph was a perfect end for the character, the only way to give him justice as well because the games cant really dive into the forerunner trilogy events just a few characters like mendicant and offensive bias
Honestly I’m utterly disappointed how dirty they did the didact, not even some closure with him in in a final battle of epic proportions, though they did give him some closure of redemption from what I heard in halo epitaph. Despite this however, it was truly an astronomical let down, not to mention that they even could have done the warden eternal well had they given some effort, the warden eternal had potential if they bloodywell cared, hell I would have loved to have seen the didact with the warden eternal working together with their promethean armies and guardian armies (the guardians were probably one of the few good things to come out of halo 5 in my opinion) and they even wrote the warden eternal off sloppily in epitaph (and I wish they did a warden eternal action figure and heck even a decent guardian action figure other than the tin foil model!) for goodness sake 343 industries, get your act together if you want to live up to the legacy of Bungie and give Halo meaning, purpose, and glory again and whatnot! Though despite this, Halo wars 2, it’s dlc, and Halo Infinite are very awesome games, I look forward to what comes next 🤞
Did the new crap post-Bungie developers just forget about the Didact? They introduce him in Halo 4, never to be mentioned again. It's embarrassing how bad the games were after Bungie's exit.
the didact was definitely around, had an incredible book (epitaph) but he definitely shouldve been the main villain for halo 4-infinite. even if epitaph is absolutely incredibly and a great end for the character (to be honest it made a halo 5 just a slither more bearable with how smug the didact is over cortana losing chief at the end of 5)
The didact has some badass armor, but everything about him from the video game is weak. The books seem to tell better history of him. Oh well. It's 343, not Bungie, so of course it's a flop.
I thought 4 was a masterclass in story-telling. It is extremely solid and stands up well to the test of time. It was establishing a new trilogy, and they nailed it, aside from the multi-player of course. This is coming from someone who remembers the midnight release of Halo 2. I think it's a crying shame that they binned this story and wasted so much great build-up from all the multimedia. I miss the Didact.
