There were 1-2 mistakes where I left out a clip in the edit relating to my remarks -- sorry my legends. I was trying to get this one out for you guys ASAP! Also -- I said it's a 2/10 and 14% is generous. Yes, this was a slip-up / mistake. I left it in the edit because it's funny when I'm dumb sometimes and I figured it would get some free comments. So to be clear, while I dropped out after Ep 2, I will point out what the training sequence is "supposed" to be. As a traditional kung fu practitioner, does modern combat sports and studied old school Japanese weapons-based martial arts as well, and a Star Wars fan of course, this is supposed to be about showing part of the training drills of Jedi, going off of Lucas borrowing from Samurai film and to some extent kung fu film stuff, where we seem the solo training drills to learn and refine basic mechanics, footwork ect in things like Drunken Master, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, The Last Samurai ect. In Chinese and Japanese martial arts, we have many short and long solo weapons routines that people train (though I would say they look more entertaining than this), but also paired routines. In modern HEMA (European weapons arts), that often have similar things like this as well, so someone can practice movements on their own and later apply to prearranged partner drills, and sparring. It looks like that is what they were doing, like in Ashoka and some others films.
I suppose I sound like I am defending the quality of the sequence, but I more pointing out what the writers and choreographers thought this was supposed to be, as opposed to what it was supposed to be. Too often I feel like they try to make-up just some movements as opposed to borrowing from actual traditional sword/fencing routines that look more exciting. More importantly your reaction to this is what indicates the problem with the sequence. I was in between on what I consider the quality of the scene with Sabine, but she should not great, being more amateur and High Republic era Jedi solo routines should look pretty awesome and the sequence should just capture you so you are not even thinking about why is there. It is kinda weird that I feel like Sabine's drills make more sense then this one did.
If the audience is having to think about the why it is there, the choreography of the sequence is obviously not entertaining. I have often been bothered by a lot of Hollywood created solo weapons routines, as they are often done so neither a actual martial artist nor audience member finds they interesting or purposeful.

The episodes writer said on Twitter that the reason the wookie Jedi had to die off screen was because of budget reasons. It’s getting NO ATTENTION, and I have tried sharing it with all creators I can think of but nobody is seeing it.

That Padawan training scene is so stupid. The master just spouts vague nonsense without teaching them anything. It's so lazy.
There are distinct “styles” of lightsaber technique which is why count Duku stances were always so different than the rest of the boys, so it makes sense that they would memorize kata as part of that training.
But yeah they could have actually built upon that lore and taught the audience about that so they didn’t have to read about it in an Encyclopedia while shopping at Costco.
How could that episode cost 24 million. All they did was walk around different places. Nothing happened. Even killing the spider took no effort.

The worst trend we are seeing again and again is people who in no way DESERVE their position, keep getting these positions. They are hired in no way based off of talent or skill.. There's no way a show that is this expensive, with this famous of a subject, should have this bad of writing & have this bad of world design, world building. I mean these set designs, aesthetics, overall look & feel of the world & it's visuals as a whole. It's all so surface level. It looks cheap & tacky. On top of everything people have already said, I also think the camera work in this is awful. This show genuinely feels like adults role playing as kids are getting to shot this..
It really feels like it's deliberately going against everything that is Star Wars. It feels deliberately disrespectful to the lore and has no respect to the source material. Are they deathly allergic to having male characters? Are they allergic to quality storytelling, world building, character development.. This is awful! It really seems like whoever is making these doesn't realize Star Wars used to be a really well made world full of diversity. It didn't matter what kind of character, creature, species you were, they found great ways to convey artistic depictions of the Human condition. Creative ways that connect us all on a deeper level.
Things used to take pride in finding creative ways to convey things. To give the audience feelings without overly explaining it. I really miss that. If you go back and watch "X-Men the animated series" It is so well crafted. The story of mutants was so universally relatable. Media back then found ways to abstractly teach me life lessons, touched on difficult situations, found intelligent ways to tell stories. Even when I watched it all grown up it really felt like the story is so well crafted and executed that anyone is able to relate to it in someway or another. It's stuff like that that we are so deeply lacking nowadays. So much so that literal kid's cartoons from the 90's told deeper and more mature stories than most media nowadays.
They don’t care about any of the nuts and bolts a craft of screenwriting or writing for TV. It’s as if their white or other privilege means they don’t have to follow the traditions or necessary beats of good or even just competent storytelling. It’s outrageous. It’s as if they’re too good to ever read let alone follow any advice from a screenwriting guide book.

They are not 'adults role playing as children'... they are adult-children role playing as adult-adults... you can see this by watching children plan and present there own original 'home-made plays'. You watch as an adult, you acknowledge all the flaws, and yet you still clap for them making the effort. When adults do it, you do not! And, as children they react as you would expect, by throwing a tantrum and demanding the respect they got when they were physically young enough to be rewarded for nothing more then effort....

What?!? $23 Million for this, this ... this THING!? For under 30 minutes of show of mostly people walking and just finding the Wookie killed off-screen? I can't understand that. This isn't just burning money. Can a literal fire actually burn that amount of physical cash in such a short time? I don't think so. That would also be more fun to watch. I can't wait to see what their next report looks like on August 14th. This isn't a business anymore. My prediction, a massive stock tank. And deserved. The power of maaaaaanyyyyy.

Someone fill me in why at the 8:00 minute mark they are walking across a perfectly (man?) made bridge by someone for no apparent reason that leads to a forest where no one would otherwise dare to go.
I think this says a lot about coddled Hollywood writers. Little practical sense, and they just assume there’ll be a well made bridge and infrastructure wherever they go.

Did you know in a recent post one of the head writers literally said that they had budgetary issues, this is indicative of the fact that the writers are either liars, or embezzling money, this is also indicative of the fact that Bob Iger cannot keep track of his own funds, or employee's, which is finally indicative of the fact that Disney is doomed if it doesn't have a massive shift in management.
How are you gonna kill the wookie jedi off-screen? A fight scene with him could have given you something positive about this episode. Instead, it killed the only thing i had an interest in still

According to a Q&A Hedland didn’t have the money for the fight and felt it distracted from the walking and talking. I’m not even joking. A million dollars a minute and they couldn’t afford the fight everyone obviously wanted most.

Thank you for critiquing this show for it's writing, it has been very difficult to find critique that didn't rely on me having political alignments.
I just want to hear about why I am having a difficult time enjoying this show, I don't care if anyone is gay, a person of colour or whatever use if pronouns in or around the show.
In fact I like when media has those aspects but THIS show is not terrible for those things, imo, it's terrible for the writing.

Well technically in old cannon Palpatine did survive, if you count as a vengeful force ghost that eventually came back but had to keep hoping between clone bodies because they would rapidly decay, before Luke or something gave him the ticket to the Sith afterlife where a plethora of spirits of slain and passed Jedi Masters keep him in said Sith afterlife via a never ending battle

Did no one tell them that in Star Wars the cliffhanger is not the 'first moment of tension' (because that kills the audiences level of tension and engagement), but the moment you realize the repercussions when the tension is resolved. Its been 4 episodes and i have yet to see mei kill one single person, oh whats that? She threw a knife at trinity? Well dis she finish her off? No she just left? A butter knife killed a jedi master? Ive seen a girl get stabbed threw the liver with a lightsaber and be back on her feet after a power nap so dont tell me shes dead,the second guy commited suicide so that doesnt count he could have easily just stab himself woth his lightsaber but oh right those dont kill people so maybe poison is the only way to kill a jedi? Quimir found a helmet and saber in the Sith temple (Brendok). The master is Plageus. The Quimir is a DJ from Jacksonville. Blah. This episode could have fed sooooo many hungry, but Lesby Headno needs to make her own therapy session

Im convinced that this show was actually 5 or 6 episodes originally, and Disney said "aw hell naw, we need atleast eight episodes". Would explain why each episode only has 30 minutes of actual content, with TONS of filler. Which episode 4 is mostly just filler.
None of those Jedi wanted to question Sol on what happened? Green bean brought up that she’s targeting the Jedi that were stationed on her planet but they don’t question the guy who was there?
Also last episode we learned that the witch planet wasn’t apart of the republic so why were the Jedi stationed there anyway

I have never been a fan of those martial arts when people fight with the air and act like they are accomplishing something. Same thing here.
Manny Jacinto deserves praise for his work now that we've seen El Bueno first 4x episodes 🙂 I streamed on thorsday night via D+ by using "65 Led Telly, 5.1 wireless headphones on a dark room 🙂 Congratulations to Joonas for having chance to continue playing Wookiee in Live Act Star Wars production 🙂 We'll see more of Kelnacca in flashback scene where he's possessed & fights other Jedis. It's just not the same as to see him interact with Master Sol & others at present day 😐 Le Sigh, but i love the episode enough to give it 7.5/10 on couple websites & S01 review once S01 is over.
Time when it should be done, not after one or few episodes. ✅ Second complaint is that it's 7-10mins too short. Hopefully one or more out of remaining episodes are at least 37mins when end credits excluded 🤞 Enjoy S01 when streaming at D+ & good times in Galaxy far Away 🙂
So they look at Mae, and they determine she MUST have a master, she MUST have been trained, and the way they determine this because there is NO evidence of Smilo Ren outside of us the "audience" seeing "him", is that Mae is SKILLED in using the force and fighting.
So...... Basically they're confirming that Rey should NOT have been able to just do all the crazy shit she did with no training.
You can see the entire house of cards, realizing it has been built on a landslide.
Way back in the early 2000s, my friend borrowed his dads's camcorder; and we got everyone together to make a starwars movie. It's maybe 10 minutes long, and it ends with Darth Vader beating the Jedi with a bow and arrow, and then randomly dying because someone farted and his mask couldn't filter it out.
Our production quality was what you'd expect for a bunch of elementary school kids; but we spent at least 20 minutes writing a script. I'm guessing our script probably made more sense than this shit.

I am not watching this, don’t have disney plus. But it sounds to me these writers are terrible. Too much saying and not showing which is the number 1 rule of writing, show, don’t tell. Plus they can’t even look up a character they are going to place into their show like ki adu mundi who does not exist yet.
The entire budget for Godzilla minus one was between 10 and 12 million they spent more than twice as much money to produce this and this is what they got you need to compare and ask we’re $15-$16 million went!
I don't watch the series. But I love it for one reason. All those perfect TH-cam critics. It is the most entertaining part of this show 😂

I don't think Mei survived the fall. I think she respawned at the bunta tree like after you lose in a video game because Disney Force wanted that to happen.

Lady Shrek is the Sith imo, she has a master (Tenebrous?) and is looking to train her own apprentice, she's also using Mae to kill the Jedi who were there when the witches were killed to cover it up, and is trying to thwart the investigation and keep it quiet. Afterwards when she's killed it will be covered up by Ki Adi Mundi etc as they don't want the Senate to know a Jedi caused all this trouble. This isn't a bad premise, but the writers are just atrocious.

I don't subscribe to Rotten Tomatoes, but I would just to leave a review on this unwatchable series. I thought they had already done enough damage with Boba Fett or Obi Wan, but here we went above and beyond. It's like watching an episode of Space Balls. I can't save anything from this series. It's embarrassing how they had such a large budget and managed to pull off something like this. If I signed up for Rotten Tomatoes someone would say I did it on purpose because I'm a toxic fan.

Honestly, Star Wars could just hire some HEMA people and give us a show about a war without any dialogue, and it'd be better than this.
2:00 I have no complaints about the training, to be honest. Practicing katas is training, and the trainees moves are impressively crisp. Its clearly form 3 without outright shoving it in the audience's face, and its clear that they are well trained. One of the few good bits of the episode.
Listen to the dialogue it’s so generic and doesn’t even relate to what they are practicing in a meaningful way. Glad you enjoyed but for most of us it was corny and wasted
@@Stark-CinemaFair. I like the practice choreography, I think it speaks to how skilled the Jedi are and it characterizes them better than a sparring match would. But the dialogue is bad, yes. It doesn't match the padawans' actions at all; it's a lesson they are already proving they don't need to learn.
And the later inclusion of the actual line "No one could have survived that" is worth so many negative points it made me genuinely angry.
Darth maul surived being cut in half but im not sure what Palpatine fell into

worst part of the flying Sith is "they fly now" doesn't even apply because leslye, being the genius she is, set the show in the past...so it'd be more apropos to say "They flew then?" even tho no other Jedi or Sith would use this ability in the future...if only Sidious had it maybe that'd give a rational reason to how he survived

I looked at the critics scores, they are getting 'positive' scores for giving it tepid reviews and 7/10 and damning with faint praise. because they didn't want to aggravate Disney.
they aren't giving it gushing 10/10 reviews this is great. they go in and give it a review and anything 6/10 or higher is a positive review. and 84% are 6/10 or higher now.
whereas the audience doesn't worry about pissing off disney and gives the thing the score they deserve.
but its not an aggregate score, its 84% of reviewers scored this positively, like if 100% of reviewers had a 6/10 score, it would give it a 100 critic score. not a 60.
I heard it was bad, loaded with all the numbskull agenda and oopsies, but I never thought the writing scene by scene and line by line, was this abhorrent.
