      And a good thing, too. Otherwise, he'd have to be killed.

    Such a good movie. I love the conversations about murder in this film; good luck trying to have such an intellectual discourse about a topic like that at a party today!

      If you're of the right age (college) I could totally see this conversation panning out after a few beers haha.

    Philip really gave it away. If it wasn't for his suspicious and peculiar behaviour, Rupert probably wouldn't have suspected anything. Brandon handled it like a champ.

      It’s funny how you probably completely forgot about writing those comments but when someone replies then you suddenly remember the things you used to say. I’ve found that I like to leave comments on most videos so that months or even years from now, someone’s reply might bring me back to the videos I used to watch and things I used to say. Stay safe in these crazy times and I hope you have a great year!

      Phillip probably wouldn’t have acted so nervous and jumpy if Brandon hadn’t pushed things so much though.

    The cinematography, production and set design and...the gay themes in this film are very ahead of their time. It looks like it could have been made for TV in the 1990s. Which is why it's hard to beiieve that all of the cast have been dead for years.

      Farley Granger's lover at the time screen writer Arthur Laurents helped with the script.

    Stewart’s character is such a massive hypocrite at the end of the movie when he reprimands the murderers when he’s seriously invested in these ideas like he is here.

      Erm. I’m not sure if you understand the film at all, especially Jimmy Stewart’s final monologue.

      theres an extended version of his speech in the novelisation where he takes a bit more accountability lol, but yeah i wish he’d acknowledged his role in it a little more, brandon obviously did it to impress him

      Do you have any examples ?

    • @yannatoko9898
      @yannatoko9898 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      What? Any examples of impurity? How do you define the "purity" of cinema, overall? What time values are you constraining it to? Considering the subjective aspect of it, how can you be sure of it?

      there is no subjectivity in the analysis of movement in cinema, pure movement exists, and only very few filmmakers have been able to bring images of movement and time to levels of perception that agree with duration. It is the duration which is objective, and its perception is in no way subjective.

    Just read an article about Jimmy Stewart and how this role was his first departure from his wholesome 'Aw shucks!' leading man persona. I haven't seen this movie in full yet, but I'm very intrigued and can't wait.

    Speaking of murder, colorizing b&w films rates death by slow torture.

      I believe this was actually Hitchcock's first film shot in Technicolor.

    • @Watcher3223
      @Watcher3223 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Yes, but what relevance does your opinion have with this particular movie?
      It was shot in Technicolor, so it was never in B&W to begin with.

      zaggy3110 Definitely Hillary Clinton. While I don’t believe that Hillary Clinton shot Vince Foster, I do wonder how someone can shoot themselves, twice in the back of the head, from a distance of five feet in a Washington, DC park, during evening rush hour.
