@@onzkicg I purchased the Amazon Fire Stick 4K Max about 2 months ago and it is Awesome. It's super easy to use and super fast. But I think speed has to do with how strong your Wi-Fi source is. Good video, probably worth noting that the Roku and Fire Max support AV1 codec which is future proofing since Netflix is already streaming with it. The Chromecast does not support AV1, also FireOS also has the Roku channel as an app, Android tv however does not.

    • @landpet
      @landpet  2 ปีที่แล้ว

Thanks! Yes I should’ve mentioned that, I did mention it in my newer video when comparing the fire stick 4K max to the fire cube. Generally speaking, sometimes I have to skip stuff just because the video would be too long, it’s a battle lol. I also forgot to mention that only the Roku from this comparison supports airplay but since you can cast to all three, I just skipped it but I probably should’ve just mentioned it.

    Fire TV Pros -
    - Best performance
    - Alexa if you use it
    - Best button layout
    - WiFi 6
    - Better game streaming performance
    - Can sideload apps
    - Supports VPNs
    - Supports AV1
    - Can be found on cheapest deals
    - Best SoC
    Fire TV Cons -
    - Worse for privacy
    - Too much ads
    - No universal IR remote, depends on HDMI CEC
    - Crappy streaming
    Google TV Pros
    - No intrusive ads
    - Google Assistant is better
    - Doubles as a Chromecast
    - Can sideload apps
    - Supports VPNs and more apps
    - Remote doubles as a Universal Remote, can control a VERY BIG range of IR devices
    - Works with most home automation systems
    Google TV Cons
    - Bad for privacy
    - Poor performance for game streaming
    - No AV1 support
    - Older SoCs
    Roku Pros
    - No intrusive ads
    - Cheap
    - Good home automation support
    Roku Cons
    - Not good selection for game streaming
    - No universal IR remote, depends on HDMI CEC
    - Bad app selection
    - Poor sideloading game
    - Crappy streaming
    - Older SoCs
Fire Stick is a better device hardware wise, just the stick. The ultra is even better. But for best utility, Google TV can't be beat. It has Chromecast built-in. Fire Stick Miracast implementation is horrible while Roku's implementation is very acceptable, but it's no Chromecast. When I use AMD Link or Steam Link, Fire TV or Nvidia Shield performs the best. Google TV and Roku just doesn't pack a punch.
If you need game streaming on budget - Go Fire TV
If you need most convenient streaming - Go Google TV
If you have AV Receivers, Soundbars, Old TV without HDMI CEC and mixed bag setup - Go Google TV
If you want good voice assistants - Go with either Fire TV or Google TV
If you want the easiest and best home automation integration - Go Roku

roku itself doesn't support bluetooth, but you can open the app on your phone and make the audio from the TV come on your phone or the Bluetooth phone connected to your phone, it also allows multiple different headphones to be connected at the same time, if each person has their own phone and bluetooth paired. I've tested up to 4 people each listening to a TV show using a mobile phone each with a bluetooth headset, it works via the WIFI network between ROku and the mobile devices, and from mobile device to headphone it is bluetooth

Iam an amazing prime member and bought a roku ultra to use with my hue gradient light tv strip. I have not set it up yet. Is there any advantages of getting amazon fire stick instead since am an amazon prime member or should I stay with roku ultra? Just need a streaming service for my apps so hue lights can sync with them. Tv native apps don't work with hue gradient lights that's why I need a streaming device. Right now I have external chromcast but the downside is that I have to use my phone to stream to tv.

Great video. I previously used 2 Chromecasts w/Google TV and they both performed well for about 3 weeks. Then the Chromecast on the main TV started freezing and crashing inexplicably. I was always clearing cache on a daily basis so storage wouldn’t be an issue. I ended up replacing both Chromecasts w/ Google TV with a Roku Ultra & a Roku 4K Stick. Both Roku’s have never freezed or crashed. Yes, the Roku 4K Stick is a little slower but it’s much more stable in my opinion.

I would consider getting a mesh system to boost your wifi coverage first but if that doesn't interest you if you have a wifi 6 or 6e router, I would opt for the firestick. If not, supposedly the roku is supposed to have pretty good range. I have not tested this claim since I have strong wifi signal throughout my place.

The thing is. I'm between two rocks here with Amazon's firestick and Google's chromecast. It seems both devices can do 4K60fps and have all the apps you could want (netflix, prime video, youtube, disney+, apply tv, etc etc) but the things scaring me away from both and making it hard for me to choose is that Amazon's interface is horrible and those ads are just yuck, I don't want ads on the tv whilst I'm scrolling. However, google's is great but the controls being on the side is disgusting and I'm not exactly sure you can get apple tv on it. On top of this I've seen other comments saying how the firestick is more future proofed meaning it's probably best to go for it but again the ads are yuck. It would be nice if google released a new version of the chromecast with google tv that has the newest encoder and a better remote.

Built-in TV streaming apps don't get long-term update support vs streaming apps that comes built-in to Roku, Amazon Fire Stick, Apple TV, Chromecast with Google TV, etc.
Example: Netflix, Hulu, TH-cam, Prime Video, etc will still be getting updated over 5 years from now on a PS5, Xbox, etc vs the built-in apps from a TV.
Also, these dedicated streaming devices operate faster aka less sluggish vs the built-in apps of any TV.
