Nah, my 29" 34 StepCast was 1490g with full steerer and axle. The SID Ultimate RaceDay was 1494g (original 2 position damper, don't know if the newer 3 position damper adds much).

Exact same weight as the new SID ultimate - non SL, I just installed on my XC bike. 35mm vs 34mm stantions. No carbon parts on the SID.
i think new sid ultimate 35mm is much better choice than ohlins :)
