I'm having difficulty hearing the major third interval that's to be expected from a 72 degree eccentric shaft 5 rotor engine. I can kind of hear it when he pushed it a little bit. Can't wait to hear it on full tilt.

@@_armln It's a rotary, so they don't have to adopt a 72 degree eccentric shaft just for balance. It makes sense to adapt a 180 or 90 degree eccentric shaft for this purpose as those already exist and add an extra lobe.

Q: Why have i never heard of this one? A: well it was "lo-key" known, but you have to be hardcore into Rotaries to have known about it. i was aware of it, but the shock here for me is that it was said (iirc by Mike himself) that this was going to be in a "Street Car" chassis specifically a modern Mazda MX-3 and NOT this full-on "Lemans" Race Car chassis mimicking the 787B...? yes Dave is building a 5-Rotor and in his build series he's clearly been showing that it's also going into a Lemans style chassis (Superlight SL-C) so it would've been nice to have 2 different versions, but now we'll have basically 2 of the same car running around (albeit this is Front Engine and Mazzei's is Rear-Mid engine).

I'm wondering the same seen Rob dahms vids comparing the 3 and 4 rotors and seems the 3 is able to get the same as the 4 efficiency wise and at over 1000hp ied like to see a 4 + rotor be in a funny car setup going for as much power as possible and rip seems that's really the only use out of anything over a 3 rotor and to be able to actually use the power it's capable of anything track wise seems the 3 rotor is capable of doing ? , U watch any rob dahms vids?

Ive been a rotor head since I was 14, a mazda mechanic who worked on them I started hanging around taught me a lot and would take me on back roads to drive his 79 that had been swapped to 13b and I immediately was in love. That was many moons ago and now we have this, 5 rotors and 6 rotors ….. I ain’t gonna lie if I heard it in person Id prolly get a chubby!!!! Hahaha

Sounds almost identical to a 4-rotor at low RPM. Up high, yeah I finally hear a difference. Once he gave it more a throttle there's a different harmony going on.

At first I thought it would be the first Big Bang rotor engine (heard a 6 rotor sound out of it). But with headphones it sounds truly like a Tritone like every 5 cylinder and multiples / 5 rotor should.

@@misfirerotary The 787 is a 4 rotor and from the firing order I would say that it sounds like a flatplane V8. But this one sounds like (and that was my first expectation before I heard it) a Lexus LFA on steroids. But for my personal taste the exhaust pipes are too loud, maybe with a proper and more restricted system it would be truly sound much cleaner. The only thing both have in common are the screaming and high revving noises.
But nevertheless: these guys made history and I bet Felix Wankel laughs from above in joy. Cheers from Germany.
