The Tale of Oeyama (大江山物語) is one of the best-known heroic stories from medieval Japan. It tells of the famous episode when Minamoto no Yorimitsu (948-1021) slayed Shuten Doji, a demon described as an ogre, a kidnapper of pretty maidens and a cannibal
disguised as a giant human being.
