What a labor of love! Thank you so much for your inspiration and for sharing your journey. I absolutely love your compositions, energy and beautiful color. Your emotion and your voice shine through beautifully. Bravo!
It’s a grand book and I do hope they do a 2nd edition so many more people can enjoying it. The Dublin Tourist Board should sponsor it. Because doesn’t it just make you want to visit the place? Certainly does me.
I really enjoyed this video Roisin. Very inspiring! It was nice to hear all your commentary with it as well which added so much insight. The detail you included is amazing. I had to stop on the sketch of the Gallery Cafe and ponder "where would I even start in this sketch?!" But you capture things so very well. Thank you for sharing! And Reuben is just the cutest little fuzz ball! His little face is adorable. You must really enjoy sketching him.
Thank you Gone Coastal! I do love sketching Reuben. I did that a lot during lockdown. And thank for your words of appreciation, that mean a lot…definitely my last “city” book!
Incredible details, colour, light! Dublin is truly spectacular and you captured its magic! Thank you for all of your efforts and for sharing. I am off to see if I can find a copy of your amazing book!
Stunningly beautiful work which reminded me of my visit to Dublin many years ago. Thank you for the video and thank you also for talking to homeless people which I always do too if they are willing. I think the worse thing in the world must be to feel invisible.
Absolutely wonderful. I ordered this, Galway and your guide to drawing expressive faces. I love this so much and can’t wait to spend time in all these places.
Roisin...this is such a wonderful book...such lovely memories for b ( being born and grew up in Dublin) x I found a copy and hav purchased it...I just had to...and even more so as u kindly shared your sketches of ur book here, thanku Roisin x 😉🙂
Thank you Wendy, you are very kind. Dublin is so unique and has such a special atmosphere - I would live there in a heartbeat. Still holding out for that mystery benefactor who's going to offer me a pied-à-terre on Lower Mount Street! Or anywhere in the city!
@Róisín Curé I would love to see a sketch book of yours of Enniskerry, in Wicklow!! Smiling and encouraging you to maybe do sketch books of different Counties 🙂 ...we as a family moved there when I was bout 13yrs and loved growing up there aftr living in the suburb of the city...in Ranelagh ( South Side of city) Wicklow has so many beautiful sights including Enniskerry and up the hill to Powerscourt 🙂 Thank you for your message you sent earlier x 🙂
I received this book last week, and it is absolutely gorgeous ! It is generously illustrated and I appreciate the size of the illustrations. I never visited Dublin but it is a joy to discover this city through your sketches. Through your story. I am enjoying reading it as much as to discover what will be the sketch on the next page. ;¬)
lovely little movie and exhibition of your work, a pleasant documentary. Like frosting on the cake and I enjoy the book so much more now having seen this. Thank you, Roisin. Cheers ☘️
Mark, that's exactly what I hoped: that even those who had the book would see the originals and find something else therein...even though I was very familiar with Norman Rockwell in print, nothing prepared me for the power of his originals. I am hoping to be selected for a travel sketchbook exhibition this year in France, so if all goes well I will show the work to many more people, in the flesh.
Thank you Melanie. I submitted the sketchbooks to this year’s Rendezvous du Carnet de Voyage in France this coming November, but they turned me down. No accounting for taste! Pity because I thought folk would love to see them.
@@roisincure what a pity, indeed! Well we love seeing your beautiful work. Trying to learn sketching in ink and watercolor now and finding inspiration in your videos. 😌
Thanks for showing us your sketchbooks, Roisin. I greatly enjoyed them. I find it interesting the number of buildings where it is just the tops of the buildings. I must admit that when out and about I do tend to look at the tops of buildings as so many have such interesting embellishment. A sort of architectural icing on the cake. 'I have too many books at home.' is never anything I've have ever said. In the past my partner has mentioned that I may have too many books but having pointed out to her that there is no such things as too many books she decided to make a tactical retreat. Besides she is now the owner of a fair number of books herself, many of which I bought for her.
I wrote it because I thought it was so funny that they were browsing in a bookshop whilst also saying they had too many books! I sometimes only draw the tops of buildings because I get the scale wrong…stupid reason I know! I’m very glad you enjoyed my sketchbooks and thank you for saying so!
@@roisincure I have come across the same thing on a number of occasions. I always wonder why they are there if not to buy books. Is it some form of addiction. Is there a support group. The BBA. Book Buyers Anonymous 😄
Great moments in time, in your life. What an awesome collection, thank you so much for sharing it with us. I am trying to be an urban sketcher too, and your work is so inspiring. I will definitely try to get a copy of this gorgeous book ❤
Thanks for sharing your beautiful work. I love architecture and flowers so much, I always get inspired by everything around me I just wish I could get myself to get it down on paper more often. I am glad to see your motivation. ❤
Thank you Stephanie! The trick is to always have a cute and irresistible kit with you, and grab tiny moments to sketch. But it’s not an easy habit to form!
