    Whats up guys its Matt, I'm not sure whats up with all the hate about beadlocks. No, these aren't beadlocks, we never called them beadlocks. Yes we know what beadlocks are! Look at the title, look at the thumbnail, these are Rock Rings. Now they are similar in the way that they are welded to the rim... so if you were looking to get a set of DIY beadlocks its pretty much the same process you see here in this video to set them up. Thats why the title says "OR Beadlocks". The only difference being on the beadlocks there would be an outer ring that that gets bolted to the welded on ring and sandwiches the bead. So anyway, not sure where all these negative comments are coming from but I'm just gonna chock it up to everyone is in a bad mood from Terrible Tuesday. Have a better rest of your week!

      I mean... you didn't mention beadlocks at all in the video. I figured there would at least be a "beadlocks are done almost the same"
      Not your fault that people don't read the description though.

      BleepinJeep Misleading title in more ways than one, it's not even "make your own" it's install parts bought from some place.

      lately there's been a lot more negativity, and for some reason Tim seems to get the brunt of it. I don't know why exactly, but more viewers = more trolls...unfortunately

      Jerry, what he means is, you can buy wheels with rock rings OR bead locks installed, already done. Or you can "install these parts bought from some place" and make your own. It's not a misleading title if you know what you're reading

    Do you think it's possible to weld with a flux core 120v welder?

  • @jdog4534
    @jdog4534 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    nice job! looks great. but why not go with bead locks at that point? wont they also protect your rims? anyway, something to consider is to do the tig/mig method when mig welding them ? .. you know? consume a filler rod as you mig weld to fill up the root more and reduce the under cut edges .. but honestly, you could have just left it without grinding anything. they looked good form here. finally, do you think it would be a good idea to alternate passes in a pattern like for lug nuts, just to keep.the heat from concentrating in one spot, possibly warping the rim? Thanks for posting . keep up the good work.

    Great job!! Ok for the people who don't know what there for. Have you ever seen a bent rim ? From sliding or bouncing on a big rock? Especially when you're air is down? Think about it.,. You thinking about it? That rock ring strengthens that wheel bead substantial... And as a sharp edge... Again try to think about it.. think how the tire is mounted on the bead. There is no sharp edge...

    I could see a use for these but I personally would only use these on an off-road-only vehicle. They will fill with mud and snow and cause terrible balance issues going down the highway, and that mud, snow and ice is going to be a real PITA to get out.

  • @guytypeperson
    @guytypeperson 7 ปีที่แล้ว +12

    Honestly for this amount of effort, cost and weight you should have just gone with beadlocks. If all you want to do is not bend a lip, a rolled piece of rebar is way lighter, cheaper and easier. Also, that is a hell of a sharp edge/wedge shape you've put between your tire and a rock. It looks nice though, I suppose.

    not my idea buy when I saw it I had to agree, step 1 is to relocate the valve stem. Leaving it in the factor location makes it really hard to connect to them. Transferring it to the center drum area makes life a 1000x easier when you are out in the trail and full of mud.

    • @markmorris6208
      @markmorris6208 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      About the only thing these are good for is rigidity. They're mostly for rock crawling. If you do a lot of four wheeling in the mud they'll get packed with mud. When you get back on the road you usually end up with bad vibrations unless you clean out all the mud.

    • @stevene9785
      @stevene9785 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      They add weight. They help protect your valve stem. They also do a good job of holding lots of mud in the rim. The only think they do not do is lock the tire bead to the tire. HTH

    Looks like you created more of a problem rather than a solution? That ring flat area is going to catch a hold of rocks now and then put a nice slice the tires when the edge slips past the flat area. Looks very cool, nice job, but the tires will get sliced off-roading for sure. Wider rims that hide the sidewall with these rings would make real world 4x4 functional logic.
