Always sad when that happens but I do understand it when they hear that growl the shock hits and they are fumbling all over the keys. Angelina immersed herself in TH-cam video's of these Icons starting at 3-4 yrs old guided by her Iranian Grandmother Mery Zamani an artist and child prodigy in her own right. Her first Idol was Billie Holliday who she started with on her journey to the stage at Norway's Got Talent. She opened with 'Gloomy Sunday' which she inhabited and absolutely infused Billie into the song. The similarities are incredible. She followed with another Billie classic singing 'I'm a Fool to Want You' acapella pitch perfect and infused with the same Billie Holiday essence. I've heard this performance backed by the original music and it's like Billie Holiday was like Billie was singing through a child voice. A beautiful child voice. You want to know where she learned it. She learned it from the greatest in history going back to the 30s & 40s. This one she learned from J Hawkins himself. I have no doubt she had it on repeat on TH-cam. And nobody forced Angelina to practice, they wanted her to sing children's songs. She would have none of that! Angelina has always been the driving force in her development. Begging to be on that "Simon show" by the age of 3 and insisting on getting on Norway's Got Talent at 5 & having to wait till she was 7. I love this performance so much. As they say AJ don't play. Well perhaps this is what she does when she does play and we get the most stunning, amazing performance of a 9 yr old of this Jazz standard ever created. I believe it is going to go down in Jazz & Music history as the best ever for this age and in my opinion the best rendition of this song ever created Screamin Jay included. It will be revisited for Generations and will remain relevant for Generations to come. Any one discovers this performance for the first time today or a 100 years from today are going to be as amazed and astounded as everybody has been to this point. Think of the children who will be inspired by this one performance in the decades to come. This is an Iconic performance and will alway be Iconic. I comment on the "pensive" child because Angelina has an incredible work ethic and seeks to perform every song in a way she considers will bring out all the emotions within the lyrics and melody. Angelina has been referred to as the "Queen of Jazz", "The Barefoot Princess", "The girl with a thousand voices". All of them are true, but I prefer the nickname I gave her after listening to about six of her performances. For me, she is "The Chameleon of Song", for as a chameleon is able to change its colour to match its surroundings, so Angelina is able to change the "colour" of her voice to accurately match the needs of the song to reveal the emotions within the lyrics and melody. Even more remarkable is her innate ability to communicate those same emotions to her listeners.
