  • Several botched repairs by the dealer I bought the car off. Finally found a fix but requires regular maintenance now for something that should be set and forget.
Note: the correct procedure for tightening a v-band is to tighten a little at first, then tap around the diameter with a mallet to seat it, then retighten again to torque spec. I cannot do this on the 208 without removing the turbo. Ultimately a permanent fix may only come from doing that.

I think I have the same problem, that V-band connect's the turbo to the exhaust?

Not exactly. Kind of - what it does is it connects the two halves of the turbo together - the compressor and the turbine sections. If that's not tight I think you get oil leaks into the turbine. If you are going to try tightening it just be careful that you don't over tighten it as the v-band will actually not sit right if it's over tightened. In my case I have to over tighten it because the damage has already been done but if yours is okay and your problem is something else you could actually cause a problem with the v-band. In my case I'm actually going to replace the turbo and in fact I have one ready to go just waiting until I've got time to do it.

I've got a replacement turbo I'll fit eventually as it's annoying to have to frequently retighten the v-band. But it's okay fornthe time being atleast.
