    Remi you are a legend, mate never thought you would have this gun. I have the exact same and is the one gun I will never sell, she is a sweet shooter. I have a z8 on mine and zero ejection issues.

    😎 Sako is my favorite factory production rifle and I have bought 4 of them! Simply Amazing Accuracy too! 🎯

    I love my razor 1.5-8x30 it’s on top of a savage 220. Wish it was still in the Vortex razor line.

    I’m running an AR style scope on my 375 H&H. It’s FFP 1-4x. With Leupold QR base and low rings. Easy off/on scope for any situation.

    I owned one in 9.3x62 Mauser, it had the case extraction problem. It can be fixed but you shouldn't have to. Sako dropped the ball trying to make a semi controlled round feed out of an action that wasn't ever designed to be one. The cases weren't held securely enough in the bolt face which gave a weak and badly angled eject. There's a lot of second hand 85s around in the classifieds and no one is buying them, certainly not when they are pulling thousands of dollars and have a known fault. If Beretta would have acknowledged the problem in the first place and fixed it all would be well however their excuse was that the rifle was ejecting properly when it left the factory which it was until a scope was mounted. I've also seen 85s in 223 and 204 have the same problem due to the action being scaled to the cartridge. Very frustrating if you've just shelled out serious money on a premium product. The 90 should address this issue but there'll be plenty of people not buying a Sako ever again .

    I have a the same optic on a .375 H&H and have the 2-10 version on a CZ457 .17 HMR. Excellent optics, really wish they were still available. I don’t think they sold well because of limited reticle options.

    Beautiful rifle.

    Looks like an 8.5lb setup with a 22" barrel? This wouldn't be my first or even second pick for a thick cover, walking rifle but I can see the attraction with that wood stock. I believe you must have picked this setup for nostalgia and not so much for practical reasons.

    • @andre1448
      @andre1448 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Aaron, you have to hold one of these Sako Bavarians to feel the attraction. The stock just fits and feels natural on your shoulder and cheek, especially for tall shooters. True it’s a heavy gun for caliber.

  • @MatthewsFabrication
    @MatthewsFabrication ปีที่แล้ว

    That's a Sweet Rifle.
    When you mount the rifle to your shoulder & close your eyes & get a perfect Cheek weld on the stock, all the way up to your cheek bone for a consistent cheek weld position, can you see clearly through that scope immediately, or do you see a slight black ring around the top of the scope or all just all black & need to raise your head a little to see clearly?
    Sincerely,
    Matthew

    It will be interesting if you have ejector issues with this gun. I have an 85 in 06 and in 50yrs of hunting and having over 80+ rifles go through my hands I’ve never had a rifle with the ejection issues this one has. The only workable ammo it ejects properly is Federal Premium using nickel brass. Hornady, Federal Power Shok, Winchester regular brass will most often eject straight up, hit the bottom of the scope and 50% of the time the case falls back into the chamber. The cases that do eject don’t seem to be consistent in the angle or flight coming out of the chamber. So it would be interesting if any follow up video is done on this rifle as the 6.5x55 has the same chamber length as the 06.

      @@knuckledustaz Sako has come out with the new Sako model 90. It has a double plunger system the same as the Sauer 101. Those double plungers really kick’em out.

    • @paulellsworth7679
      @paulellsworth7679 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Larry, It is not the scope or the cartridge length that is the issue at all. It is the extractor and the extractor pin and the rim of the cartridge thickness and geometry.
      What I believe is the issue is that Berretta (the new parent company of Sako) only allows the use of one very generic very weak extractor pin and spring (new improved cost cutting measures) instead of mating them to the actual cartridge.
      This is why certain cartridges like my 375H&H and your 30-06 are a complete failure. I took mine to my gun smith. He was able to fix the issue with a heavier extractor spring and beefed up extractor that actually grabbed that cartridge like it should have from the factory.
      It cost me several weeks and dollars I should never have had to have spent. That and a lot of words that never should have left my lips.
      What it could have cost me was my life on a dangerous game cartridge like that!
      What it has cost Berretta is that I will never buy any of their guns from any of their subsidies or any other products they market.
      To me, Berretta is like the Ambev of the gun world trying to sell Bud Light in a cute fashion completely disconnected from their market.

  • @paulellsworth7679
    @paulellsworth7679 ปีที่แล้ว

    I hope your rifle will actually eject spent cartridges for you. My Sako 85 ejects them straight up into the scope and back into the action effectively jamming it on every shot!
    Great job Berretta! Making a beautiful rifle completely useless and refusing to fix it as well.

    • @knuckledustaz

      It’s not an issue on the euro cartridges it’s the thin rim on the brass. My 85 in 6.5x55 has zero issues after hundreds of rounds

      🙃 If your Not "Smart Enough" to Fix it (the video's are on line on how to do so), then bring it to a Gun Smith! 👨‍🎓 I own 4 and don't have that problem either! It is an "easy fix", so stop your "Whining" (like a "Little Bi_tch"), because I DON'T FEEL SORRY FOR YOU! 😂 Nope! 🤪 You just want to play the "Victim" 🤕, instead of "Manning Up" and "Solving the Problem"! 👨‍🏫 You Must Be A Liberal 👶! 🙄

    • @paulellsworth7679
      @paulellsworth7679 ปีที่แล้ว

      @knuckledustaz I beg your pardon but it is an issue with "euro" cartridges. The 375H&H magnum was developed in great Britain in 1912. That is the exact cartridge that Sako has the problem with. Now maybe you do not consider England to be "Euro" but from my uncool side of the pond geographically we consider the British to be apart of Europe.

      Christensen Arms has a lot of QC issues and they are very difficult to work with when trying to get rifles repaired. Unacceptable for rifles costing as much as $3k and more. The Sako is a much more refined rifle anyway. Never shot a Sako or Tikka that wasn’t a good shooter, I still own quite a few
