I'm from America (gee, what a surprise.) and I just want to say thank you for keeping British gun culture alive. You guys are getting squeezed out of your rights by the day and I want to express my condolences. You guys used to have a great gun culture and it just.. disappeared because of the laws and it's really really sad to see. Best of luck to you guys and thank you! Don't be afraid to fight for your rights! Remember: A well regulated militia is necessary for the preservation of democracy. God bless you guys!
The best rifle I ever had was a Sako 75 Classic Deluxe in .270 with a Nosler 130 grain partition load, anything in my sight was a one shot instant kill!
My 85 is a .223 Varmint with wooden stock. I cannot tell you how much I enjoy it. This one seems like something I would love to own in the future in .30-06.
Beautiful classic! I have been looking at many rifles. CZ, Tikka and Sako and others. These are the top three. I keep coming back to the Sako varmint walnut and blued in 308. I love the traditional look and feel. The cost is a little high but I feel like I need the look and feel with the performance. I plan to set one up with aperture sights no scope. Old school old look rifleman's rifle. Thanks
I now own that very rifle, i have had it threaded for a Wildcat Evolution mod. A Swarovski Z8i with ballistic turret sits on top. It is a fantastic rifle, many thanks to TGS for doing me an excellent deal
I have to agree with everything you said. I have the 85 hunter stainless in 308. The timber work is excellent and makes the rifle stand out in a crowd. Balance and accuracy also makes this a really beautiful weapon to use. It is one of my favourite guns.
I’ve got a nearly identical Sako AV in .270win and its fantastic! Simple, good looking, but practical enough to take out everyday. And of course really accurate, was thinking about buying a new synthetic stock rifle, but now I’m happy to stick with old faithful! 🤣
Own an 85 classic chambered in 25-06 rem. It is a beautiful rifle for sure. I'm glad there is finally a review on TH-cam, there wasn't any videos of the classic on TH-cam at the time I bought my rifle, so I made a quick video myself and uploaded it. Absolutely love the look and feel of this rifle, it looks even nicer with low scope rings and a smaller diameter scope objective. I have a Swarovski Z6 2.5-15x44mm mounted on mine with Leopold rings, and it feels just right.
My Sako 85 Classic in 270 shooting my 140g Nosler BT hand loads is the best deer rifle I've ever carried afield. Have never had to shoot more than once. And the deer is always laying where it stood before the shot.
Beautiful rifle. The owner of a popular gun shop northwest Alberta said that in his experience Tikka rifles shoot slightly better than Sakos. That is strange considering they come out of the same factory.
Glasbed it, and it’s a sub MOA tacdriver. I love both my 85’s (308 and 9,3x62). It’s not as asthetic as the older ones, but make no mistake, it’s a heck of a shooting machine.
I bought a Sako Finnbear Sporter light new 1983. Done hunting , long range competition and hunting oriented competitions. Never failed, use it with an old Zeiss and it's in 6,5/55. When I have a good day it's 0,5 MOA, Not for sale!
Nothing as good looking as wood stocks. Trying to decide what caliber I want. I'm getting older and wanted a .243 for a lighter recoiling firearm in preparation for old age-lol . But lately I've been thinking if I'm going to buy a Sako it might be worth having a more powerful and less overbore round like a .308. I'll figure it out.
Fun fact i was hunting wildboar with my tikka t3x 3006. And I never thought i would ever accidentally drop my mag. Guess what I did 😂 by pushing my rifle against a wooden stand witch pushed them button. Well wr still got the pig but it was annoying. So next rifle I will definelty take it in condiseration.
Hi... Great review and lovely rifle. I am personally looking into getting the SAKO 85 Bavarian Carbine, either in a 308 or 30.06... But I'm afraid the shorter barrel (51cm) might be a problem at 150m compared to the 60+cm barrels... Both in terms of accuracy and hitting power. What are your thoughts on that? Cheers!
If you get a Bavarian Carbine in 308 you wont get the recoil lugs as you do on a carbine chambered .30-06. But the blast, recoil and lost performance you get from a .30-06 in a 51cm barrel is something to consider imo.
Cracking rifle. Any chance of a review on the Bergara B14 HMR , yeah bit heavy for stalking but can use on the range too. (be nice, don't make me regret it haha) I just bought one. Waiting on the licence to come through then off on the deer I go. Cheers and keep up the great work.
We can see what we can do, i have never been the worlds biggest bergara fan to be honest - the guys who distribute them have set the price too high for the gun i feel. You could send your new gun down to us to review of course?
I bought a B-14 in 6.5 creedmoor. Had to have a good bit of gunsmithing done to get it shooting to my standard. 1/2 MOA. Traded it in (plus cash) for the SAKO S 20 in 6.5 Creedmoor. Less than half MOA out of the box. No gunsmithing needed and it feels and balances much better. Get the SAKO. Much better and it was lower cost when all said
Hi,i want to buy a european hunting rifle, what do you prefer between mauser vs sako vs tikka or any one else in this range prices????thanks for beauty channel🙏
Yes I have many of both and the Sako is one of if not the best hunting rifle made, I have 4 of them and about a hundred other brands and models including my husqvarna and pre64’s and my Weatherbys but Sako’s are in a class of their own!
Great review, I know you did a T3x Super Varmint review recently, so how would you compare the two? .....and Thanks for taking time to chat with me and give me some tuition on the simulator when I visited a week or so ago. Cheers.
You are always welcome mate! They have some of the same base feelings, but apart from a similarly radiused bolt handle and technically similar bolt mechanism. Not a lot Is comparable
I think if you were going for one of the prettier models then definitely, sako has a finish quality well about tikka. If you want synthetic stainless or synthetic blues, and can live without a 3 stage safety, then a workhorse tikka makes more sense. But if a workhorse is what you want at tikka money, there are probably better guns out there.
I would love to start a trend back to the older style of stalking rifle in the UK, single shots and stutzens being particular favourites of mine. So maybe, just maybe i would stock one, next year possible
The UK shooting community is small compared to many countries. But it would be nice to see something a bit different occasionally. Thank you for replying.
The Sako my a mile! I have owned about a hundred Weatherbys over my 60+ years of hunting and collecting and about 20 Sako’s and the quality and accuracy is so much better! Once you own a Sako you will know why they are so loved my the hunting community

What a beautiful piece of kit. The sound of a bolt action is like music to my enormous auricular appendages!!
Nice explanation...👍

Love that gun does the wood have big lines in it or it’s it the same as the wood in the video
It’s pretty much the same as in the video.
I've heard Sako rifles mostly have ejection and feeding problems, is that true according to your experience?
@@hoviggh I have never experienced any of those problems with my rifle. However, that doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen with some other Sako rifles.

Superb rifle John,a bit of class.
That it is Gerald! Exceptional
would love to see a review for deer stalking best gun between sako 85 carbon light vs tikka t3x lite
So beautiful😍
Scored the Bavarian Carbine variant in .308. Topped it with Contessa +20MOA Picatinny rail, Zeiss Ultralight rings, Zeiss 56mm Victory V8 glass,

Just getting turned on to this rifle….so f’n cool.
Beautiful rifle . Well made but not ostentatious and a thing to cherish for many years .
Would be ideal with a 2-7 scope .
2-7x42 would be nice - perfect woodland setup!
I've just bought the Sako .308 varmint. Great piece of kit. Review if you will please?
When we get one into stock, not a problem David. Or you could lend us yours?

What scope you have on that ?

I just need to pick which caliber!
What is the difference between the 85 classic and the 85 hunter in 308? Thanks
Nice video as always guys, but is the lip-sync out?
it does look to have rendered a few hundredths of a second out
Any extraction issues? Thank You
My 30-06 had extraction issues. The shell would extract up and into the scope. Beretta Australia repaired it. It’s a common problem.
@@u122564 ..How did they repair it? Thank you
@@lanetaglio they didn’t tell me, it just came back fixed after 1week.

any extended mag aftermarket parts for hunter 85?

Where do I get to buy that gun in Spain?
Nice one, I must get one.
Sako started going down with the 75 model and the new one looks half way like it's cheaper cousin the Tikka.
Sako worth it over the tikka?
The accuracy is very similar, but the fit and finish on the Sako is superior.
Yes I have many of both and the Sako is one of if not the best hunting rifle made, I have 4 of them and about a hundred other brands and models including my husqvarna and pre64’s and my Weatherbys but Sako’s are in a class of their own!
Never heard of or experienced a "noisy magazine" (huh??) ever being a problem out in the field.
Kind of weird to not have open sights on a rifle called "Classic"... awesome rifle nontheless
Really nice rifle , just a shame it's does not come factory scrow cut

IT'S PRONOUNCED SOCK-O!
Not in Hampshire it’s not
Eject?
Bavarian Carbine, please video a Bavarian Carbine! It would be the apogee for your channel. :)
I would love too, but i'm not sure if i have the bravery to hold one in stock! It would appear buying one would be the only way to get a hold of one

IS THIS BASICALLY THE OUTLAW IN BO
Isn’t the outlaw a revolver rifle?
Ah idk
sako 85 or weatherby mk5??
oliash92 Weatherby for me.

that is a nice looking gun but for 2 grand id hope so
