Outstanding! Thank you for this video, especially for including a quick tour of the analytics at the end as this is something i've been wondering about since they added the LPR.
I had my AI Bullet mounted on a light pole about 15-20feet from the roadway. I hardly ever received accurate reads if any at all for plates. I gave in and went through a labor intensive process of trenching and burying an ethernet out to my mailbox. During the day time, i get almost 100% of the cars that drive past. Unfortunately the camera is placed where someone with nefarious intentions could just rip it down. If one's priority is license plate reading, i believe the extra investment of the AI PRO would be worth it over the bullet for the distance advantage. Great video!
@@drdabber710 Ive worked hard for my home. If someone tries to vandalize or commit a crime in my area, I would like to have high quality, accurate information to pass along to investigators. License plates are on public roadways and there is no expectation of privacy (at least in my state).

Thank you for your videos on ubiquiti products, really helpful to decided which we should get for our needs. AI tech isn't really working perfectly just yet, just like the new Samsung phone just came out with those new AI things which none of them working perfectly! It's just an early marketing money makers at this point in my opinion
I agree, but if you set them up for success, you results can be pretty dang impressive. We use ours all day every day (with 20+ cameras) and you'd be surprised how helpful they are at finding events.
I'm also interested in night time and also higher speed vehicles. I have cameras in a lane, close to the traffic, with night mode and infrared light, but the slow shutter speed at night complicates things. In the front we have a street light, but cars move even faster than in the lane. This video has the advantage of daytime, and a parking lot which most of the time will have low speed vehicles.
Very helpful video. If you could keep doing these tests and work out a reasonable max distance and approach angle for consistent plate readings, that would be really helpful. For example, can you read consistently out to 100ft?
Hey Clay got the Ai pro and have been playing round with some settings, do you set the focus point or just leave it? I assume that it auto focuses anyway? Love the review videos.

Is your NVR different and on a different version? Can it maybe the features are somewhat NVR dependent?

@@ArnoSchmidt70 unfortunately, my recommendation is going to be wait for the AI LPR.. you can do them with the AI Pro but it's very Hit or Miss.. my AI DSLR does a great job but it is super expensive..

I have a AI pro in my garage too, as some people say, you have to zoom to read a plate a bit away (we Even have big nice plates) what i dont get it if it detects a vehicle, why cant it just do this in software, its a car, software zoom on a still, enhancing, read plate in the background.. Ubiquiti cameras have those "person detection" capabilities, but that's just tell you "oh there is a person walk by" and we know that was a human, because we can see them on our records obviously, so at this point it's pretty useless, but who knows what the future brings to this cameras, after all I love ubiquiti products
It's getting better all the time, they keep adding/improving features in the cameras and just this week they added in Protect: Added support for Animal Detection: G4/G5/AI series: cat, dog, cow, sheep, horse, deer, bear Added support for new Audio Detections, including classification and event filtering: G4/G5/AI series (with mic): baby crying AI series (with mic): speaking, car horn, car alarm, glass breakage, barking Added support for Vehicle Type Classification and event filtering: AI series (except 360): car, van, truck, bus, motorcycle, bike, SUV Added support for Vehicle Color Classification and event filtering: AI series: black, blue, brown, gray, green, orange, pink, purple, red, white, yellow
The cameras can only detect plates that are visible in the view. So if you cannot see the plate on the footage, neiher can the camera either. AI Pro should be able to make better detections because of the 4K image and more pixels to analyse, rather than AI Bullet that is only 2K. That being said, I have AI pro and AI bullet on different angles and heights on my front yard and they detect almost all the plates. Only if theres snow plate is unreadable for some other reason, they dont read it. But if one fails ,another usually read the plate from another angle. The cameras are best when they are aimed directly at the incoming car with the plate approaching or leaving. There has been few times when they have added extra letters in front of the plate but its gotten better all the time with updates so less false detections. PS: Get well you sound like you're having a flu!
