Yeah, I believe Gordon has gone on record saying how fucking depressing this series is for him in retrospect because of how many places just fell right back into old habits, threw out the new furnishings they gave them, and just all around did not last.
To be fair, most of these places were baaically on the edge of bankrupcy before Gordon ever showed up or the owners were so incompetent there was nothing ANYONE could do Sometimes its just better to let nature take its course and let the ship sink.

It’s something I heard from a lot of people work and jobs. We need a lot of empathy. Social work, nursing, being a therapist. The sad truth is I think people really have to learn when to cut somebody loose and let them fail. Otherwise, you’re just gonna get overwhelmed by all the misery of watching people fail, despite your best efforts to help them. Sometimes the kid actually needs to touch the hot stove and burn their hands before they learn. I know that’s how it was with me. Sorry about the typos. I’m using Siri dictation and it doesn’t always do words good.
The wrong patterns of thought were so embedded in so many of these owners that it's just not realistic it could be fixed with a 3-day whirlwind visit from a celebrity chef. It would take weeks, months... if it were even possible at all. If the owners even want to change their practices. Which, if we're being honest, most of them don't. They just want to keep doing what they've always been doing, but have it make more money.

Something that always stood out to me with this episode is how Tatianna doesn't seem to be able to even speak a basic sentence in Spanish but expected to be able to work together with the crap "Chef".
Well if you start watching Bar Rescue be prepared to never want to go to another bar,but it’s entertaining. One episode a biker gang took it over and you can guess how that went.
It's not just about having experience, it's about relevant experience which means the chef has been cooking meatballs like that the whole time he worked their.
I was literally just looking through the playlist and this pops up in it. Thank you for the content, Alicia. It is sudden, but certainly not unwelcome.
This one is a testament to why the phrase "God bless the child that has their own" isn't just something a parent says to dismiss their kids' wants. Having to front your own money and work for it makes you take it more seriously, makes you not want to waste things. I wonder if Tatiana would've put the stupid wine glass down and actually manage the restaurant if it was her money.
That's a big problem with having the same chef. Sometimes, you have an old school chef who is capable of continuing and willing to make progress. Other times, you got an old raisin who needs to retire.
I can't understand why the chef wouldn't step his game up knowing Gordon is coming in to highlight all the problems. I understand slacking off because management doesn't care any more, but obviously management is about to start caring if they're calling Kitchen Nightmares in
What infuriates me about this owner is that... she was a waitress, and what does she do for a good chunk of the episode? Treat the waitresses like shit! Also, for the word of the day, may I recommend Fiesta Sunrise? Trust me, you did not want a "TACO" from that place back when Gordon visited it.
Codeword Tacos! Honestly I think the gold medal for Worst Chef on Kitchen Knightmares has to go to Daniel from Piccolo Teatro. Not only was he terrible, couldn’t even handle an all vegetarian menu, not only was he a slob with a dirty kitchen and rancid old inventory… when he realized he was getting fired he tried to force his way back into the Kitchen and went for a knife. Gordon had to manhandle & disarm Daniel and forcibly evict him from the property.
Also such an infuriating staff in general. The Owner and her friend are just awful entitled people. The new Chef that flew in from scotland is great and got totally fucked over. She needs to watch that one.
I've never worked in an Italian restaurant, but I think that one of the first things taught is how to make a FREAKING MEATBALL, if Carlo doesn't know that simple little thing, wouldn't that cast shade on his working in an Italian restaurant in the past?
Bar Rescue Is Definitely Worth It, There Are Some Amazing Moments In The Show, Both Heart Breaking, And Heart Warming, A Great Emotional Balance Also, Taco, Taco Taco

And here I was all happy that I avoided mentioning your _chest."_ ... Wait, GOD DAMMIT! Edit: Taco. Huh. Maaaaaan, a bingo would be so great with the kitchen nightmare videos. Like, oh someone is drunk, oh the fridge is disgusting, oh frozen food, oh store bought, oh stole/borrowed money, oh the restaurant close in the end, oh gordon leaves -type of bingo :D Holy crap, I didn't expect that ending D: o7
Tasting History did a video where he made chef boiardee from scratch using original recipe (plus one for tomato sauce, at least I think it was the tomato sauce, since the recipe didn't include how to make the sauce itself) If i recall correctly he liked it a lot more compared to today's stuff... I think I may go and get the recipes from the vid and make it myself as well
He used a sauce recipe from the Chef's family cookbook and was likely a reasonable guess for the original. Keep in mind that the OG kits were basically canned sauce and canned parmesan with dry spaghetti. The result would have been vastly superior to modern canned pasta. (The tasting history recipe is fantastic, but the amount of sauce is double what is needed relative to the amount of spaghetti cheese and butter. )
Are you really surprised that Tatiana was happy to make a lasagna? She's probably never even made a taco before, let alone something that "complicated". 😂
38:20 Tacos To quote Little Kuriboh, "Heart of the cards? More like Heart of my ass." Also trust us, Bar Rescue makes Kitchen Nightmares look like the UK version of Kitchen Nightmares.
as of 2024, of all the Kitchen Nightmares episodes, only 15 are still active today, 1 with completely new owners. that being said, there are many businesses that managed to survive for years after their Episodes. so if anyone claims that Gordon did nothing good, they're professional haters, as Gordon did what he could for businesses that were months to weeks from closing. as for Tatiyana i hope that she feels bad for how badly she screwed her Mama over, granted she had the ability to say no, but she willingly gave away her home to her spoiled daughter and that's tragic.
bar rescue is very much worth checking out, though it is a bit more played up than kitchen nightmares. but it is still very amusing to watch, and there are some amazingly insane things, like... horse poop on the floor in the bar, just walking into the kitchen at a bar and making your own pizza and walking out again without the owners noticing it, and several people getting seriously ill from drinking the booze or eating the food. and i think it would be fun to hear your thoughts about some of the bars they got on that show.
Ok. Just subbed to both your channels. I've worked in commercial kitchens for 26 years in Australia. Hearing you speak with experience and knowledge is so amazingly rare with these reactions/yap fests. I hope you keep going and check out the OG Brit episodes at some point. A wildly different experience. The Yank version of this show makes my skin crawl with the oblivious owners with NO IDEA how to run FOH, let alone a kitchen and restaurant.
I talk throughout shows like this, it’s not very appreciated by the ppl I know, but it’s always nice to watch a commentary like this where it’s normal to converse while watching tv together
As a fresh-out-of-college biology major, my rule of thumb for this has become: If I can cook better than the chef, they're part of the problem. If I know more about economics than the management, they are part of the problem. If I can multitask better than the waitstaff combined, they kighr be a problem. Two out of three, my rage is building and Tatiana needs a reality check by way of living alone paycheck to paycheck for a few years, god damn.
In the vaguest bit of devils advocate, its possible she had her first moment of self awareness and wanted both to tell them what she was about to do with the head chef, but knew herself juuuust enough to know that if she stopped herself from doing it RIGHT NOW, she'd talk herself out of it.
In all honesty, in my opinion, chef Ramsey does exaggerate a little bit the food's faults, for 3 reasons: 1. He's more knowledgeable, better taste palette; 2. Sensationalism for the show to be better; 3. He has to, to be the savior with the new menu, throwing out the old😁 (or improving it), but you should expect that when you call him. It's not all your win for he invests time and money into you, he has to win also. I wonder why so many of these people don't get that simple fact. Once you called for his help, stay humbe and let him school you, credit he's a little harsh here and there.😸 (Taco🤫)
Ok for italian cooking. If you make super tiny meatballs you can boil in salted water to cook. And then finish them in the sauce. But meat balls that size with no seasoning in the meat. No absoulutly not
I am so glad to get a commentary on this series from a restaurant owner as it fills in some aspects I didn't know as a former bartender. Tho, if you end up ever dropping the series, I hope you at least watch the amy baking company episode as it is the episode that most embodies the show imo. Also, taco.
Toasted Ravioli are a huge thing here in St. Louis. Which is what makes it weird. No one in this restaurant is from STL, but yet Toasted Ravioli are on the menu. Well made Toasted Ravioli are amazing. Plus, you get to dunk them in SAUCE!
I have a soft spot in my heart for failures like Tatiana. Had I just a little more self confidence, I'd be like her. She was probably a teen when she started working there, was really impressed by the chef under Charley and just had rose tinted glasses. He became a legacy feature of the restaurant and is an example of why most restaurant staff gets rotated out shortly after a new owner comes in. (At least in my neck of the woods.) She idolized him, thinking he was the magic of the restaurant back in the day.
I have an unfortunate thing to say regarding every restaurant featured in this show... As far as I know, all restaurants that were shown in Kitchen Nightmares, including this one, was shut down at some point EVEN after Ramsey visited them.
I think 15 are still around today. The vast majority did close down after the episode was filmed, mainly because they were months or weeks away and it was too late, others reverted the changes. A few of them did survive a few years then closed later on either due to economic conditions or the owners were done with it.
Yay, it got uploaded to the TH-cam! The player on the Patreon started getting buggy for me around the time she was getting ready to fire the head chef, and I’ve been on the edge of my seat.
TH-cam keeps trying to recommend me other reacts to kitchen nightmares but this is literally the only one that is engaging!! Your experience in food service seriously makes these so good, I love it. Also TACO!
Yeah there was one I saw that seemed to be paying attention to the show and reacting as such some of the time, but then gets sidetracked by subs/follows/etc. without pausing and missed some stuff which, sure it happens during streaming, but at least edit it out for youtube if thanking subs/follows will take a while and detract from the content. 😅 Other than that it's been really hit or miss when it comes to the other ones I have seen.
Alicia, I would love for you to to check out the three episodes of Gordon's Great Escape, where he goes to India to learn about the real Indian cuisine. These episodes are great because they were made during a time where Gordon felt like he was getting into a rut and needed to reignite his passion for the business, so he goes to India to learn about his favorite cuisine.
In my (limited) experience Bar Rescue has as much a chance of making everything worse as of making things better. I still remember that pirate-themed bar that the Bar Rescue people forced to retheme into a office-theme because it was in an office-heavy area, which led to them loosing the regular customers they did have and not gaining any new ones because office-workers don't want to go to a bar themed around their job.
27:15 (taco) I’m currently working at a restaurant as a dish monkey. And there are many times where as I’m busy cleaning, I will see the owner and her husband walking around with a clipboard, checking to see what more food stuff they need to stock up on. What they’re low on what they’re out of and whether or not one of them is going to need to make a quicker run to the store to get some stuff. They are always busy making sure they have all the supplies needed to run the restaurant.
Toasted Ravioli was created in St. Louis, Missouri and is mainly a midwest thing. It's weird to see it on a menu in California. When done right, Toasted Ravs are a really good appetizer. What we saw in the video is the worst toasted ravioli I've ever seen. It looked like the chef didn't coat the ravioli with breadcrumbs and didn't fry them at all. BTW, I had a TACO or two the other day. It was fantastic.
Absolute yes to the Bar Rescue reactions. It's like Kitchen Nightmares but even more trashy. (With the exception of a couple where it's bars that were hit after hurricanes. Those are more uplifting.) Also, TACOOOO!~
Also I looked it up and more bars survived Bar Rescue than restaurants on Kitchen Nightmares. It's probably because the other host is harder than even Gordon Ramsey on the owners
I think Alicia unironically hit the nail on the head. I am convinced that Tatiana was fully cognisant of every flaw her restaurant had, but did nothing about it because that would require her to actually do her job & get rid of dead weight; making her "the villain". So she used the show to give herself an out by having *Gordon* be the one to say what *should* be done and for her own hands to be clean
Bar rescue is like kitchen nightmares except more extreme, because that show is about assholes that deal with alcoohol and have delusions of everything working fine because they are drunk on the job while they endanger customers, its fun but it's a different vibe, one episode the owner or manager is an older lady that keeps offering people to take bodyshots from her

I’m 100% here for it… and a taco, but you can’t give me one via TH-cam.
It’s the clear “oh he’s gonna blame me-“
You’re the OWNER 💀
I was literally just looking through the playlist and this pops up in it. Thank you for the content, Alicia. It is sudden, but certainly not unwelcome.
33:25 She believed in the heart of the cards 😂 Then she proceeded to normal summon Pot of Greed.
Thanks to my husband I can understand this lol
This one is a testament to why the phrase "God bless the child that has their own" isn't just something a parent says to dismiss their kids' wants.
Having to front your own money and work for it makes you take it more seriously, makes you not want to waste things.
I wonder if Tatiana would've put the stupid wine glass down and actually manage the restaurant if it was her money.
i always love watching these videos whilst working, or drawing! i drew a *taco* earlier... also the story rambles are so fun to listen to!
That's a big problem with having the same chef. Sometimes, you have an old school chef who is capable of continuing and willing to make progress. Other times, you got an old raisin who needs to retire.
58:22 OMG YES, I love BAR RESCUE! There are so many amazing episodes to react to and your reactions will be $$$
I can't understand why the chef wouldn't step his game up knowing Gordon is coming in to highlight all the problems.
Fiesta Sunrise?
"nauw i feeling like, toopid"
Bar Rescue Is Definitely Worth It, There Are Some Amazing Moments In The Show, Both Heart Breaking, And Heart Warming, A Great Emotional Balance
Also, Taco, Taco Taco
"Kitchen Nightmares has me stressed, depressed..."
Me: "And under duress-"
"But also thriving!"
Me: "Oh, thought we were rhyming for a sec, there... And here I was all happy that I avoided mentioning your _chest."_ ... Wait, GOD DAMMIT!
Edit: Taco. Huh. I didn't even reach the point of the intro with the "To show you didn't skip the intro" when I made my comment!
Maaaaaan, a bingo would be so great with the kitchen nightmare videos.
Like, oh someone is drunk, oh the fridge is disgusting, oh frozen food, oh store bought, oh stole/borrowed money, oh the restaurant close in the end, oh gordon leaves -type of bingo :D
Holy crap, I didn't expect that ending D:
o7
Seeing all these terrrible and failing restaurants makes me really appreciate the local spot I often go to, fr
(The tasting history recipe is fantastic, but the amount of sauce is double what is needed relative to the amount of spaghetti cheese and butter. )
Kitchen Nightmares needs to be renamed "Break the Nice Elf Girl's Soul."
Oh god this is going to piss you off sooo goddamn much!
But yeah out of other Kitchen Nightmare reactors I have to say you're the best!
Also, TACO!
ohhhh baby ive been waiting for this one LESSS GOOOO! Thank you Alicia! ❤
This is my new favorite daily series
bar rescue is very much worth checking out, though it is a bit more played up than kitchen nightmares. but it is still very amusing to watch, and there are some amazingly insane things, like... horse poop on the floor in the bar, just walking into the kitchen at a bar and making your own pizza and walking out again without the owners noticing it, and several people getting seriously ill from drinking the booze or eating the food.
and i think it would be fun to hear your thoughts about some of the bars they got on that show.
OH SHIT I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE! This one's soooooo good!
Anyone else want her to react to Bar Rescue as well as Kitchen Nightmares?
I talk throughout shows like this, it’s not very appreciated by the ppl I know, but it’s always nice to watch a commentary like this where it’s normal to converse while watching tv together
As a fresh-out-of-college biology major, my rule of thumb for this has become:
If I can cook better than the chef, they're part of the problem.
Also, taco.
She did ABC already, maybe the third episode she reacted to, so many people had recommended it
@aliciaxdeath “But … I trust him.”
BABE GET THE FANCY TEA, NEW ALICIA VIDEO JUST DROPPED
I’m excited for her to see the BlackBerry’s episode.
…
Taco?
Taco
Hopefully there will a Yanni's one as well.
Taco
Taco. I can only imagine what happens when she sees Fiesta Sunrise. When it comes to dragging family into it.
Tacos! Love hearing what you have to say. These kitchen nightmares have been a major highlight of my day!
Other than that it's been really hit or miss when it comes to the other ones I have seen.
21:20 "Don't answer a question you don't know." *"I DID KNOW! BUT THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONCERN!"*
In my (limited) experience Bar Rescue has as much a chance of making everything worse as of making things better. I still remember that pirate-themed bar that the Bar Rescue people forced to retheme into a office-theme because it was in an office-heavy area, which led to them loosing the regular customers they did have and not gaining any new ones because office-workers don't want to go to a bar themed around their job.
honestly, finding out what happened to most of kitchen night mare restaurants is very depressing
It's the guy who can't make a meatball!
Also a taco to watch The Black Pearl. That's an episode to watch when you want to get angry at the owners.
Going off on a chatter for something that does not exist outside of continental America is crazy.
I love your princess voice 😂
I'm so glad that I found your channel! I love your videos! 🥰 TACO!
Taco!
You need to play Kitchen Nightmares bingo! 😂
raw food, owner drinking, dirty place and so on
Taco! I wouldn't mind seeing you react to bar rescue. You're so entertaining I'm sure you'd be able to add onto whatever episode.
Bar rescue is like kitchen nightmares except more extreme, because that show is about assholes that deal with alcoohol and have delusions of everything working fine because they are drunk on the job while they endanger customers, its fun but it's a different vibe, one episode the owner or manager is an older lady that keeps offering people to take bodyshots from her
We gotta get you into Bar Rescue. It's just like Kitchen Nightmares with help turning bars around.
THE DRUNK AND THE CHEF WERE OBVIOUSLY BANGING
Yeeeeeeees! This was my very first episode of Kitchen Nightmares.
