Love my 48. It was fine on the highway but once I added fuel tuner, exhaust, new air intake it added another level of performance and increased the MPG. Sissy bar, Memphis shades cafe faring and LaPera Cobra seat and 400 mile trips are a breeze. It was a fun build. The only mod I backed off from was a fuel tank lift. I think it made it look to much like a Honda Rebel and took the spirit of the 48 design away.
I’ve 48 . 2020 ‘ i’ve changed the factory exhausts to vance & hines short shots ‘ headlamps to projector headlamps ‘ stock mirrors to rectangular mirrors . 8mm/10mm .. and now gonna change the rear tyre to 170s .. after these customs you have no corner left where you can say that i don’t love this motorycle .. its a great motorcycle i will keep it for long .. this is a true retro styling bobber of 1960s .. i just love this motorcycle man .. ❤️🥰🏍
Can't wait to get out and ride in a few days on my 2020 48! My first Harley I've owned and one of the last to buy in Europe so I was pretty lucky. Will keep it forever.
@@throttleblip9854 Yes, My bike was in the shop a couple years ago and I asked to take one out. They gave me a nice black 2019 and said have fun. Bring it back in a couple hours. Great Bike.
I think the tank graphics are the best in all the line, let alone sportsters. It's a nice clean retro look and let's the tank stand out instead of the badge. As for fuel, there are plenty of legally available containers for fuel in all shapes and sizes. You can thank camping/hiking, off road/motoX and RV'ing etc for that. What I do if I have to ride with a group, or maybe travel a ways like on a weekend is put on padded racing lycra bicycle shorts under my jeans. It doesn't turn a Harley seat into a Corbin, but it makes a world of difference.
I picked up a new 2016 48. In stock trim I rode from FL to CA and back. The trip out was 53hrs, and the trip back was 48hrs....both non-stop, no sleep, just pulling over for fuel.....stopping usually every 60-70 miles for gas....I never thought it was uncomfortable but it was my first bike but realistically you have to stop every hour to fill up.. after that trip I started modding. 1275 hammer, 577 cams, progressives in front, 14" roadster shocks in back, tall z bars, and all the typical cosmetic bolt ons. Picked up an fxdls for long rides, but the sporty is still faster ;).
Blip, on the 2nd camera angle-down at the wheel, gives a great view/perspective of the ride!👍. I'm looking at getting an 883, what is the difference between the "48" & the 1200? I thought H-D only had the 883 & the "48" models for the air cooled EVO motors? Doug🏍️🤓❤️🐻
I just bought a 2016 48 sporty and I'm really digging it. I do disagree about the mirrors mine were originally below the bars but I just couldn't get a proper view out of them , I put them above the bars and now I see the road behind me clearly , the underslung mirrors may look cool but to me safety is a thing.
Congratz on your new bike! I too am looking at a brand new FORTY EIGHT! I heard that they don’t sound great stock. How does yours sound? I love that loud Harley sound!!
I put a Mustang seat on Mine and rode from Upstate New York to Florida with no discomfort at all. I felt like I was build right into the bike. Mustang seat not as sporty but solves having to only being to ride for an hour.
I have a 2018 in vivid black with the silver stripes that fade out with the bar and shield badge and as much as I love the paint scheme on it I am swapping it for a 2019 48 tank in industrial gray with the same paint scheme as this tank. The only reason I am swapping it is because the bike now has carbon fiber front and rear fenders (remade 48 front and rear full size fender) and carbon fiber side panels and it matches the tank a bit better.
A 2019 48 with 1600km for $9500 CAD or a 2022 Nightster with only 96km for $11500 CAD. Which would you recommend? Apparently the 2022 Nightster is full of 1st model issues.
Good video ,presented well ,hit on lot of the points I needed to know ,probably going buy this model ,I am 66 just retired from years of hard work ,still.pretty healthy , don't plan on long rides just short rides , so suspension is respectful?
I really like the color, don't mind the tank badge. I like it better than the hollow Harley Davidson shield, but the 2012 is still my favorite on the 48... just about the perfect run around town bike. And like the slinky song said... It's fun for a girl and a boy🤣🤣🤣
Not an unusual amount for a sportster. The M8 is so smooth and has been out for a few years now which I think would make some say the sportster evo motor has excessive vibration.
@@thtigmif I do not know if you live in Europe or abroad, but if Harley Davidson stands a chance in the European market, it is precisely with smaller bikes, in my opinion. You see much more often sportsters than softails or touring bikes. I live in a quite wealthy city in Germany and you see mostly that.
@@adriamillasluque That's exactly what I used to think, but apparently data shows that revenues coming from Sportsters are not that high... Nonetheless I really hope to see the Sportster coming back in Europe.
@@adriamillasluque indeed. I swear that half of the 48 videos on YT I've seen (especially the UT shorts things) are from Germany. I'm actually surprised at how well Germans take to the sporty.
@@throttleblip9854 I like the 48s. especially the forks. But the fat front tire is a bit much. It's all pimped out. When the tires wear out I'm going to put Avon Speedmasters on it. I got a leather seat and grips, brown with a side bag the same. Keeping the vintage look means no LED headlight for me. The thing is a blast to ride. Never fails to entertain me.
love this bike, really it’s the last chance to get a brand new harley that still sounds like a Harley… biggest problem I have with it is, add color, ABS, security, freight, and surcharge, and you’re looking at $15,000 for it.

When we went trippin in the 70's on choppers, we stopped every 50-80 miles. Fuel stops were fun and part of the 'scene'. That tank should suffice
yep!
I’m buying a ‘21 in black. I love the simplicity and how narrow it is plus the fun seating position. Such a cool bike!
The 16/17 graphics with the badge are the best looking years for these.
This is where I got my first motorcycle it was a brand new 48 and still have it. Love the people at Tim's.

I was one of those new Harley riders that did not know the way to lock the fork so thank you.
Glad you reviewed the 48. Always been a fan since their intro. New cam view is good. Allows the excellant observation of the hard working suspension.
I own a roadster and its been a great bike. Fits my needs and riding style.
I can say that these are amazing bikes. they're a blast to open up the throttle on and roar down the road on.
Looking to get my first bike soon and found this on a TH-cam search. Love your review. Simple and honest. Subscribed!

I'm biased but Billiard Blue is the best color Harley has ever come up with and the Billiard Teal is almost as great. Great video as always!

Buy an MSR fuel bottle. Costs $20 and it's made for gasoline. Holds about 1L, and you can find them at any REI or camping store.
I think a stage 4 only gets you alittle over 80 hp, hammer performance 1275 to get over the 100 hp mark
I haven't personally done one and I know for a fact dyno numbers can be inflated but a few videos I watched claimed 100hp with the 4.

At 6’3”/280 would I go wrong on the Forty-Eight? It feels good on the dealership floor, but they won’t let me test ride…
Gap looks like hell. The should have made the tank longer to fit and given us more fuel capacity. Tiny tanks suck.

For a beginner would you recommend this or the Iron 883?
Both are solid. I like the 1200 because you can "grow into it".
