The Sportster Evo motor has been updated, but again, look at the Scout. I'm hopeful the new versions will grow on me. I am optimistic!
Have a 48 Special. Awesome bike. True HD sound, rumble, and vibrations. The 48 has a HUGE rider triangle. I've ridden several new Softail models and they all are cramped so bad. I'm 5' 9" and I can stretch way out on it. Makes it feel much larger.
I have a 2013 Sportster 72 and I love it. Little bit of old school chopper with the skinny 21” front wheel, long forks and finished in one of the optional “Hard Candy Custom” big metal flake colors. Plenty of low end torque and higher rpm horsepower. The 1200cc v-twin sounds excellent with aftermarket exhaust and a tuner. With the mini-ape handle bars, the rider triangle is comfortable. 2.1 gallon tank requires plenty of stops for fuel but they’re quick and you’re back on the road in no time. Really good review. Absolutely superb. Ride safe...

Always had kind of sporty naked bikes. Last 2 bikes were the Ducati Streetfighter and Yamaha MT-10. Never had a HD or even a cruiser. Did my first ride on a HD Sportster 48 one year ago. Really liked it, the ride and the looks. But the sales guys told me this is a small bike compared to my body size. Perhaps I should also try bigger bikes. Then did rides on Softails. Street Bob, Fat Bob and Fat Boy. Ended up buying the 2019 Fat Boy. Best looking HD in my opinion. The ride is very relaxed, not rushed. Love it. But when I am at the dealer I still look at the 48.
Hello from Germany, first i wanna say i am am a big fan of the way your reviews are made. Keep up the good work! Now my opinion concerning the bike: The Sportster models in general are essy to ride, perform very well, absolutely nimble etc. But: They are nothing for a tall person. I am 6' 2" and 225 pounds (for metric people: 1,88m and 102 Kg) and every Sporty looks like a pocket bike underneath me. It seems to be really tiny. Furthermore the tank is to small and i don't like wheels of cast aluminium very much. I prefer spoke wheels. But i think the sporty is a good bike for smaller persons (male and female), especially if they are beginners. And last but not least, the sportys are the best performing bikes in the harley family
Great Review, I almost bought one but on the test ride I had the pegs down too easy on a roundabout. Payed a bit more for a Street Bob in the end, but It would be nice to have one of these as well if cash allowed.
Once again, great video and great review. That exhaust sounds real throaty when the bike is idling, love it, I agree being a bit small bike for guys over 6". Ride safe. Cheers!
I like the style of this bike. Obviously the bike is limited to short distance hops, but I could happily ride within those limitations a lot of the time. I'd go from burger bar to burger bar, providing each burger bar had a petrol filling station. But then I'd get so fat so fat that I'd outgrow the bike and need to get a Heritage Classic to haul myself around.

Great review! After a test ride, I love the 48. Only reason I got the XL Custom instead was the ridiculously small tank. I’m sure hd could have squeezed in an extra us gal, without a noticeable change of tank shape!
Very good review. I rode a Sportster back in the eighties. Vibration was unbearable. I'm 5'8. Actually liked the mini-ape hangars. Can you get a bigger tank? I prefer the twin disc Roadster 1200. A good round town commute bike. Motor from the left hand side is a beauty.

Darcy here, I love it! Haven’t actually ridden it yet. It’s not even had its pdi! We have of course ridden the street bob 107 which is pretty much the same bike and it’s probably one of the best harleys especially because of the value for money!
I think the bike looks a bit too small for me but I’m planning on changing the rear shocks and taller seat and hopefully I will sit a little taller on it at 6’1
Actually compared to any other modern roadster (yamaha mt09, honda cb1000r, kawazaki z1, etc. it is bigger at least a lot longer : ) Only because it is lower to the ground people see it as a smaller bike.

I'm getting one of these as a new rider and I have some questions. How do you hang on? chevrolet cruze2009 48 would be perfect or if you wanted a softail then I’d say Street Bob. Both great bikes!
I'm 170cm too and I ride a 883 iron. Prefect fit!
frshtlldth freshtilldeath Perfecto 👊🏼
@@frshtlldthfreshtilldeath9670 thats awesome dude. I want a 883 sand camo
How much was it?
Sorry can’t remember now bro 👍🏼
A cam would wake it up a bit.
Yes easily modified 💯
I agree, it looks way to small for your build. Great review 😁🤙
However, if you turned it into a bobber or cafe racer then she will pass 😉🤙
Khalil Al Janahi Yes I do look like a big sack of potatoes from behind lol. Feels fine though!
@@MrDarcy-OlMan nah, more like the Hulk on a Honda Monkey. Only that Heritage fits you like a glove.
Any new upgrades done?
Khalil Al Janahi Haha yes! My first bike was a Honda ST70 in the 1970’s!
No changes to Heritage Classic yet, but I’m going to get a tuner and Apes with less pullback next year.
@@MrDarcy-OlMan lol, we all had one and looking at them now they look so small. I finally got mine on 16s factory 47 Vicla in black and with the tunner I picked up the V&Hs FP3 plugged in but not yet tuned it as I'm happy with the performance so far. But will start a tune soon and see what's the difference.
Cant wait to see what you do next on the heritage..
Thx bro
Would 2 Royal Enfields be a better purchase for the same price....Gt and a Mark 2.....I think so...and this Harley will only go 100 miles on a tank full of gas...maybe
Food for thought. But nothing sounds like a Harley 😉
Shame the wind noise distracted the viewing
Yes I know! We’ve got a decent mic now so it won’t happen again!
@@MrDarcy-OlMan good man
why are you driving at the left ?
On the left in Uk
The fuel tank is too small. The only negative on this bike...
Yes It is rather
That's an Itty bitty bike. Nice looking though.
It does seem to look small
Compared to what?
Are these exhausts very loud?
Not very loud no, nice deep tone but not ridiculously loud like short shots
@@MrDarcy-OlMan Do you mean without db killer or with db killer? I would like an exhaust that doesn't make too much noise!
@@rickyS204 not sure whether this had that or not I’m afraid as it was a while ago
Good review ... and yes it looks too small for a really big guy !
Thanks! Yes it’s probably the smallest Sportster in reality
Excuse me sir may I ask what is your height?
6ft 2" 👍🏼
@@MrDarcy-OlMan amazing I'm hoping to have a Harley Davidson 48 one day I want to have the 2012 to 2015 model I prefer those over the current ones
@@MrDarcy-OlMan one question do you have pictures of you sitting on and riding the HD 48?

2:48 that angle is why Haley's look weird to a lot of bikers
Yes it look small on u ....but nice video
Ander Toor Yes I’m definitely too tall for it and thanks 👍
❤
I've never heard anyone call these a "girls bike" in real life.
Same! Just keyboard warriors 👍🏼
I am happy to have the 2014 model ,because the tank on this model is ugly with that simpel logo on it
Mehdiuniversal We’re not a fan of the blank logo either. 👊🏼
@@MrDarcy-OlMan what was the designer of harley thinkin !!!
Mehdiuniversal I don’t know. It looks like a mistake
@@MrDarcy-OlMan 😂😂😂
883 is bigger bike than forty eight, really?
It’s slightly longer wheel base and higher up. Smaller engine though of course
Microphone in the wrong hole lol.
Pegs scrape which can kill you....I hate that .
Depends how you ride tbh.
Girl's bike, is it? hmm...always hear the Yank 'blokes' going on about that. I've got lady friends who ride Ducati, GSXR, Dyna and Softail. Cor, that's a load of girl's bikes, ain't it? Wonder which of those girl's bikes those gentlemen are riding then?
PS. I'm proper chuffed with my 'girl's bike'... happens to be fitted with a hammer performance 1275 1xxhp kit, she does. She's a right good lass, ain't she?
Sports bikes are girl’s bikes. The Sportster is a pretty manly looking bike IMO.
lol you look gigantic on that thing
Yes it does make me look big
Quanto sei alto?
PINO TINO 190.5 cm 👊🏼
@@MrDarcy-OlMan e piccola per me io 185
PINO TINO Sarebbe bello da guidare, ma può sembrare piccolo per altre persone, in particolare da dietro. Non si sente piccolo quando si è in sella.
im 6' 320 lbs, am i too much of a shrek for this bike? lol its the only one in my price range right now
To be honest you’d be fine. It also has plenty of torque can handle heavier guys
Looks tiny heheh
Does with us on it anyway lol
Get the roadster instead
