So, I've owned Breakouts since 2014. My 2018 is 117 Stage 4. Too many upgrades to list. But basically the same as the 2023, including the new 5 gallon tank, cruise control, etc. I kept my Sundowner passenger pillion when I sold my 2014. That and the quick disconnect passenger backrest. When taking solo trips I strap my Harley luggage on the back facing me and I lean back on it. No more back pain! I recently put 17" apes on short black risers. The whole bike is blacked out. Anyway... just wanted to say that I have toured on Breakouts (94k miles on my 2014) and I still tour on my 2018. The new quick disconnect, locking hard bags from Harley are awesome and don't detract from the look of the Breakout. The versatility they add is worth it in my opinion. Believe me, I love the stripped down look of the Breakout. However, on a multi-state trek it sure is nice to have those bags. I can put my firearm in them and lock it up. And when I get to a motel for the night, the bags pop off in less than 10 seconds (when unlocked). Then I can ride my stripped down Breakout around town. Best of both worlds! Just sayin'.
A long long time ago, I tested out a dyna wide glide. Really liked it and it fit like a glove. Never pulled the trigger but yesterday I picked up one these breakouts. Couldn’t be happier. This bike is absolutely perfect for me. I’m 6’2” and it fits me just great.
I have 2017 Breakout and love it. Didnt get the later years because they reduced the tank size and the wheels...so glad they brought the turbine wheels back, it looks stellar.
I purchased the Alpine green FXBR . I' put bags and a windshield, yes it changes the look... but I refuse to be facially sand blasted. and i'm not fond of back-packing my rain gear! The intake tube is a bit in the way but it's not worth it to me to change. I typically do not ride my bikes less than a full gas tank out before. returning home I'm a long ride rider style. I'm six feet tall and for me this machine does it all. No complaints just am a rider that enjoys the bike AS IS. over all I enjoyed listening and watching this video Nuff said from me....thumbs up.🐉🐉🐉. I've named it the Green Dragon.
I have this exact bike and absolutely Love it. I’m 5’-11” and it fits perfectly. Super comfortable even on long rides. It handles great in the back tire is no big deal if you know how to ride, it looks bad ass and it rides fantastic and it’s super fast! Stop beating up the breakout bro lol
@@rolandjosef7961 I have install the 120th anniversary orange grips, front and passenger foot pegs, shifter lever, brake pedal pad, I put on some nice black mirrors low profile mirrors and I’m in the process of relocating the license plate down on the swingarm, let me see if I can figure out how to upload a pic
I own a 2014 breakout that I did a 120R swap on when I purchased it from the dealer. Which had the original 5 gallon tank. I'll be honest with you I took it for decently long rides and I enjoyed it. I guess it depends on the person. I also put the "chop z" real license plate bracket and light kit which gets rid of the side lights and the side plate mount. Makes for a really nice addition. I still enjoy it to this day
I'm with you on the black preference, followed by Orange. This bike oozes quality and attitude. Good decision to bring it back. I bet they sell a bunch. Great review!
I'm not so sure. Talking with my local HD shop (a big 2-story), a lot of customers are rejecting a few bikes because of the price tag. Like the Sportster S, Nightster, and a couple of others. Yes, some are selling, but not to their expectations. That's missed sales. It will be interesting to see how this sells.
Congrats on 30K, Blair! Still my go to channel for all things Harley. Could you do a review and walk around of the '23 Road King Special? I feel like the bike doesn't get enough love and I'm looking at purchasing one in a few years. The current model at the time of course.
Perfect Head light for design, also digital vs analog.....digital all day long and smallest possible for that design is perfect! Its bit futuristic / apocalyptical design....100% Spot on !
Agreed, the headlight and speedos are actually neat and blend very well with the design and all that chrome, exactly as you say. The chrome looks fantastic on this bike as well as the bigger tank.
Good advice. I went in to the store seriously looking at the Breakout and rode out with a Sport Glide. Don’t miss the difference and the 107 has a stage 1 on it. But touring and bags is what pointed me to close the deal on a Sport Glide. I tour and can easily ride out 6 hours feeling fresh at the end. Round town I drop the bags and just ride clean. Handling of the Sport Glide easily makes up for the slight drop in HP. But heck, the Breakout does look great!!!!
I have a 2013 Breakout CVO 110 Crimson Red. Oct 2, 2023 rode to Glendale AZ then McAllen Texas. Currently on my way home. No windshield. This is my touring bike. No way I could saddle a Bagger.
I’ve had two Fatboys, my 2022 was stolen 5 months ago, just feel like getting something different, love the 117 engine and 101 hp, just wanted a change. Gotta fix the lean forward problem, I love the looks of the bike, yes, bags on it would be ugly, I think I’ll explore different handlebars but I don’t want to turn the Breakout into a Fatboy so gotta find the right handlebars. Good review, I like your commentary, this may be my last Harley, I’ve had three, hit 70, may ride the Breakout out into the sunset and fade away, it was a good run, hope I have a chance to come back and do it again.
I'm glad you included the riding video. From your description, I imagined a far worse and less comfortable riding position. I only have a 31 inch inseam at 5'10", so the drag bars and forward controls were a big concern with this bike. I get nightmares thinking about polishing all of that chrome, but I don't have much choice. Harley Davidson's are my preference, even though I don't like the styling of their new bikes. The Breakout at least looks like a Harley Davidson should look. A blacked out version with a skinnier rear tire would be the shit, in my opinion. I like classic, American, cruiser style motorcycles; and I enjoy riding them, far more than I do washing and polishing them. It's either this or the Fat Boy, for me.
I'm glad they came back out with the breakout in U.S. I was gonna buy one, then they disappeared. I just found out they released them again this year. I just don't care for the color options, I hope 2024 will have better, like blue. I originally had a 2002 nightrain and I loved the looks and riding position didn't bother me, what I didn't like was the skinny back tire and it really was a dog power wise. This breakout looks to be a lot better.
I love the Vivid black and I like the headlight.. also like the digital display it's streamline and classy looking.. if I want the older-looking display albino holder bike with it.. I want one..lol..great review..best one I've seen...
I'd go the Lowrider S. Just add passenger pegs and seat. Forward controls. Breakout is just for show. Has the same dash as the Softail standard and street bob...
Totally at one with you comments, great looking bike but not the most practical - but hey. Wheels look fantastic on the move but haven’t got the front light quite right.
In 2020 my fitment specialist said the Breakout wouldn't have been a good bike for my long distance travels in terms of comfort and handling. They brought it back this year so I'd like to test ride the changes. Either this or the Low Rider ST. I like the looks of this over the ST; a sissy bar could be added to strap a baçkpack on for multiple day rides.
Sick man, I chose a 21 SGS in chrome engine with black mods and accessories. I refer it to the chrome engine as the NUGGET and it looks great. This breakout model ive always loved and just may have to try it. I think it will deliver the sport bike feel im looking for like the 01 duece i had prior. so fun to ride
It's bad AZ. I have a black 2016 with a swingarm bag . I have the same style of heavy breather that's a screaming eagle. I wouldn't part with the bike . I've rode the bike to and on the Colorado mountains. The only reason I didn't buy the 2018 at the time was cause the small tank . The rs look really good on the bike . I like almost everything that Harley did to the bike just go with a smaller front rim .
When in the standing position the seat digs into your groin and the air intake is right we’re your knee goes , couple things I don’t care for , the rest is great
That is a Beautiful Bike! Unfortunately at 5'6" I went with a Low rider with mid controls and even that is a little stretch to the bars (new pullback bars coming).
Man the speedometer does give the bike a personality Also the digital screen is really small dunno how can a rider sees it when there's a sun in your face

Yes it is a bike of all looks so big saddlebags does kill it . Ive takin a back pack with me and it's not bad at all as long as I don't pack heavy . I'd say it's a second bike to have and not to show boat it either . I bought a 22 RKS for them long stretches and luggage capacity

The headlight does it justice. We should all be tired of round lights by now, unless you are into classic designs. LED’s are the future. The pipes look great. Back tire a bit too big for my liking. Not a fan of the handlebars. Lots of mounting space though. I love the digital gauges. Lots of info possible. Just too small. I’m a big fan of dual gauges. Harley still needs to put more effort into knocking some of the weight off. Overall, nice bike.
I fairly love the headlight face and the statement it makes with the bike but I hate the housing. It looks stamped from behind and the lamp does not perch well on the bike. The housing should be larger perhaps and possibly the lamp, as well.
Great video. Great review. Sexy bike. Hate the lack of a big gauge, too small and seems like you would have to take you eyes off the road for too long to see what's going on. The headlight is hideous

Would you consider this a good 1st time rider bike?
Nope it’s over 1900CC. If you have some experience riding you’ll be fine. It takes off ride away, so have to be careful on the throttle.
So many videos on the Breakout it must be the only bike Harley brought out that is worth anything.
On deployment atm, I’ve rode the Sportster 1200. How does that compare to the breakout?

Why can't they mount the LP holder on the fender? Is there a relocation kit for this
Noob question:
Is that the air filter? Won't it be too exposed especially when it suddenly rains?
No that's a good question. They make a silky feeling sock that you put over it. Some of my bikes I've left the sock on full time so I don't have to worry about it. Didn't notice a huge drop in power although I'm positive it does drop it a little.
