+thomas matthews hes a storyteller comedian first and foremost and his stand up has never been on par. He expresses why he doesn;t like it, in certain interviews
I think he showed a good example of it here. And I like story tellers in stand up, I like a good one liner too, but I prefer the more intellectual comic. For me I only have to hear him moan about something, in that Jewish way, and it makes me laugh. All he has to do is right how he thinks. A lot of the stand ups now days are missing that realistic attitude when telling a story or a joke, It's like the're trying to sale it too much, Forgive me if I'm waffling, I'm stoned and I just stay up all night to watch Mcgregor v Aldo.
you're probably trolling, but just in case... Larry David was a cocreator of Seinfeld, one of the greatest sitcoms of all time, and he stars as himself in his own show called Curb Your Enthusiasm on HBO, which is very successful and critically acclaimed.
Hey frankovich213, cheers for replying. I've seen a fair few chat show interviews with LD here on TH-cam, and also the interview with Ricky Gervais (which was actually what led me to check out Curb in the first place). Anything else you've got to upload would be great too, but definitely don't do it just for my sake! Thanks again.
Oh man, I can’t believe he made “Et tu, Brute?” work and it got laughs. What a clever joke! Inaccurate but still clever. Latin did not have a formal/informal “tu”. Latin only had singular “tu” and plural “vos”.
larry david is the only other large scale comedian i really like aside from george carlin.. and since carlin is gone i wish larry would do more to keep fresh material out there... i just love the raw, 'screw you if you don't like it but this is who i am" attitude.
You know, having just seen Larry's ex-wife trying to claim some kind of subtle moral high ground in a Ted talk, I can see how he came up with the 'single guy in communist China' bit.
so much of L/D's humor can be seen in Seinfeld. Right here about the posse is in one show about george buying a piece of art work he doesn't want. L/d wrote 27 of the shows all by himself for pete's sakes but it is is pretty hard finding Seinfeld humor in the show and saying to one's self "that is what seinfeld wrote" ;)
He ripped off Seinfeld? Wait a minute. I might be way wrong, but didn't Larry David create, or co-create, Seinfeld? Didn't Larry David, himself, write material for many episodes?!
Larry David is a genius but stand up isn't really his thing. He dreads doing it and he used to storm off stage when he didn't feel the audience. Then again he would dread whenever Seinfeld got renewed. The man is responsible for Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm so he's a legend in my books.
This video is deceptive if you think it's actually real stand up. It's edited footage from Larry David: Curb Your Enthusiasm made in 1999 before the first season started. Still good stuff, but not real stand up.
American Idol is a bad joke. they haven't had a judge with balls and brains (sorry Steven Tyler, you know). And what does Cowell know about comedy? lol!
Excuse me.. Are you 11 years old or something? With all due respect. I mean... this is Larry David. if you don't think he is funny is your right but from that to say: "this guy will never make it"... Come on, man!
isaac alsaleh Funny enough to write a 10-year long TV show that has been argued by many to be the greatest of all time with almost 80 million viewers. And then to write Curb Your Enthusiasm on top of it. So yeah, it's pretty funny.
isaac alsaleh go back to your VINE app and enjoy all the great comedians on there. david is one of the great, by far the most influential person when it comes to the sitcom.
You people are starting to piss me off, I wasn't talking about his sitcom or writing career, all i said is that I don't find those seven minutes funny and i stick by my opinion no matter what you people think.
Charles Crosbie I disagree. Ricky is great at stand up. It just took him a few years. Watch his Out of England special and anything after that and it's pretty good
I laughed way harder at these jokes than I should have.
He really knows how to deliver.
Its LD
This is GOLD Jerry, GOLD!
Divx! Core memory unlocked
He kind of turns on his George Steinbrenner voice for the whole act. Love it.
I love this guys warped mind. hilarious!
You have gotten that COMPLETELY RIGHT. Thanks for posting this..!
Larry David for President 2016
if only
woof
Oh my god he’s incredible!!!
HAHHA MY LITTLE JONAS. i love larry so much. i live for him
Larry like a boss. Always keeping it real. Such a perfect comedian to keep you interested, always keeps 'em coming, from all angles. All Pro Comedian
The sheriff piece is hilarious!
His standup persona is basically Mr. Steinbrenner. I love it.
one of the gods in ma book of life
Please do all of that and more. You are good.
I love Larry!!!
MY LITTLE JONAS! POLIO! HE'S MINE, i LOVE HIM! MY JONAS!
i was literally reading this as he said it.....hmmmm. hitler magic?
Wow! He’s so good!!
Nice one. I'd never heard of it before but I'm loving it.
Would love to see a full stand up show of his, I think he would blow everyone out of the water

+thomas matthews I love love Larry's stage shows. I'm not a fan of standup comedy. He's brilliant on stage, a brand of humour none can do better
The Jonas Salk joke is so great hahaha
you're probably trolling, but just in case... Larry David was a cocreator of Seinfeld, one of the greatest sitcoms of all time, and he stars as himself in his own show called Curb Your Enthusiasm on HBO, which is very successful and critically acclaimed.
His standup, at least the stuff here, is hilarious! O man, i wish there was more footage out of him doing standup... fucking hysterical
The posse bit was the best!! Ha Ha
the King!!!
In the library watching this and uncontrollably shaking with inward laughter
especially when he gets angry lol
my idol
Did LD ever do an HBO special or any other televised stand up? All this stuff from the Curb pilot is gold.
Does larry david sound like jerry seinfeld or does seinfeld sound like larry?
so refreshing to see smart comedy
Really! These days I mostly see comedy that smarts...
I love this. I wish it was something new though.
Me out his set list on a music stand. More open Mics and such should have that

That posse bit is great. Its payoff is quintessentially Larry, but I can imagine elements of it in a more drawn out way by Norm Macdonald.
Oh man, I can’t believe he made “Et tu, Brute?” work and it got laughs. What a clever joke! Inaccurate but still clever. Latin did not have a formal/informal “tu”. Latin only had singular “tu” and plural “vos”.
ONe of the funniest things ever!
the myth , the legend i'll take him over anyone !
genius
Does anyone know where these clips come from? I'd like to see the whole documentary
Larry David: Curb Your Enthusiasm, I saw it here on TH-cam
"this is what happens when you ran out of nothing..." xD
larry david is the only other large scale comedian i really like aside from george carlin.. and since carlin is gone i wish larry would do more to keep fresh material out there... i just love the raw, 'screw you if you don't like it but this is who i am" attitude.
I thought he stuck in stand up but he's actually quiet good :)
I don't know if these are jokes he always did in the 70s or if he came up with them for this show but it's hilarious!!!
'Our boys who play this great old game'
I have red AND black blood
2000, it was on the first CYE episode..
what year was this?
This guy did make it. I hope this is sarcasm. lol! And I do find him funny, both his acting and his stand-up.
His stand up reminds me of George Costanza
V.J. Baros duh
I like it
Here after Susie Essman talk about on Corbert.
holy shit this is hilarious
It was going to just be a speacial then they realized they had to give this guy a show
Jeff Garlin at 2:20!
speier nah it’s harvey weinstein
Isn't the guy who introduces him also his Swede lawyer from season 8?
Close your eyes and it's Steinbrener.
@DMenase24 yea, that's straight from CYE when he talks to his gardener
@Skulduggeryreaper He based George Costanza on himself actually
im gonna use the Tu form haha LD
Paul F. Tompkins.
you know he was the executive producer of seinfeld right? the entire show is based off his personality....
yummdiddy wrong
My bowel movement for president 2020.
This was so George Costanza : 4:30
The MC was Larry's fake Jewish lawyer later in the series!
are these real clips or were these staged for his hbo special for curb your enthusiasm?
Posse bit was funny.
"they"? He wrote seinfeld. Seinfeld WAS "this guy."
I wonder if the audience knew who Kevorkian was in that last bit lol didn’t seem like it
You know, having just seen Larry's ex-wife trying to claim some kind of subtle moral high ground in a Ted talk, I can see how he came up with the 'single guy in communist China' bit.
Um..."this guy" WAS Seinfeld.
Who has more freedom hehehaha
Oh you sorry soul, Larry WAS Seinfeld.

I miss the old Largo (but not the weird food)
That's what happens when you run out of nothing
VHERE IS THE RABBIT?! YOU VILL TELL ME VHERE THE RABBIT IS NOW!
PFT!
I think your irony has zoomed over many heads!
I think that he's funny
But, you know. this is what happens. when you run out of, nothing.
This one is obvious. And you meant in "their" defense.
He ripped off Seinfeld? Wait a minute. I might be way wrong, but didn't Larry David create, or co-create, Seinfeld? Didn't Larry David, himself, write material for many episodes?!
lol

I totally agree. He hates getting up in front of audience.
This video is deceptive if you think it's actually real stand up.
It's edited footage from Larry David: Curb Your Enthusiasm made in 1999 before the first season started. Still good stuff, but not real stand up.
He got you bro. You should be ashamed!
You need to examine a book in style/syntax.
Is he standing up? Is it funny? Then it's stand-up comedy.
Sounds like old Gene Simmons. Dunno. Maybe that’s a Jewish thing. Like it. Funny and old timey or something.
When I say old gene Simmons I mean the way he sounded in interviews way back in the 70’s.
Not sure if trolling or just stupid
ran out ...
,,, of nothing ....
damn ...
This's funny?
This's a comment? Go away if you dont like it buddy
Yes, quite so.

they can leave the country in china though?

About as funny as chapped lips
Larry David and Ricky Gervais - creating hysterical TV comedy, but not exactly great at stand up.
Charles Crosbie I disagree. Ricky is great at stand up. It just took him a few years. Watch his Out of England special and anything after that and it's pretty good
I was expecting better really not that funny at all. Seinfeld is the King.
I don't get it. I just don't find him funny. Annoying and shouty, yes, but that's not the same as funny.
he wasn't a very good stand up comedian, love his shows though
