Your message at the beginning of the vid was fantastic and so sincere! Love your content so far, this is exactly what I like watching to unwind. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Hi Travis...My suggestion is by no means timely, but I think that if you are clearing an area of rocks, it would save you time and effort if you park your machine close by and extend the boom with the bucket to a position that allow you to throw the rocks into the bucket. Once filled it would be easy to transport the load to a collection area. Enjoy the work and the process. Wish I was young to tackle such renovation. Godspeed!
Thank you so much for sharing your dream project. To me your format is a pleasure, it brings the feel right across. Plus it's a pleasure to watch a man who knows his equipment ! This video is satisfying to watch, honoured.
Watching you tackle that pile of stone, two words come to mind, passion and commitment. You have obviously fallen in love with the place, can't wait to see your journey.👍
Keep going, i love these channels! I'm italian and i'm soon going ti live in a Hill zone in the North. Renovating and living in this Kind of wilderness Is the best choice you can make in your Life. Good luck with everything, we Will follow through your videos!
I love watching people save these pieces of history. Lots of hard work ahead. I also watch The Irish Homestead. I give lots of respect and best wishes.
Me too, never again will people gather all these stones or make walls this thick so it is a good feeling to see these structures come to life again.... ♥️🇨🇦
I was watching one of my subs and this video was at the side, I watched your first video and now this and Im subscribed as I very much liked your clear the land all around and give us access to see the house properly approach. Looking forward to watch you create your dreams As for the view, I would never tire of watching the seasons come and go as I grew old. Best regards from Scotland
I'm just editing it now this episode is about working on the house and but also finding equipment to help make life easier on the property 🙌 while the builds push forward
That drive to your cottage was quite dicey, even in good weather conditions. But having watched what you have managed to accomplish, I am sure that you have planned a way to sustain yourselves in any situation. How I wish that I was 50 years younger! I am enjoying your videos and thanks for sharing.
Welcome to Italy! I wish you to be strong and believe that everything will go in the best way! Just have more patience with the public relations offices and prattics that take a long time for everything in Italy! ❤❤❤
Hey Thanks Yes, the paperwork side is a long process I'm happy to talk about it as we move forward help people understand italy and it's people I'm loving italy I would love to post weekly I'll get there slowly Build the channel 🙌 with what's wanted kind regards Travis
This reminds me of some choices I have made in my life. Not sitting in an office to earn money is one. To wake up in a place like that is such a reward. We are not so isolated, but my son has bought an old farmhouse in Piedmont that will keep me busy for many years. I hope you are enjoying your choices.
Wonderful video. All the very best. Look forward to watching your future videos. Please remember to wear masks when you are sweeping, sanding etc. That fine dust isn't good for you. Take care
Gracias
you have a big advantage over others doing similar type of work, you have a mini backhoe never sell it when its old and getting tired it not as tired as you are ;)
I would suggest you get a mic so we can hear what you're discussing with the man. Watching people talk isn't too exciting. And who is he? I'm interested in your journey and your courage to take it on.
Hi Travis, Cheers from Aussie. Great videos. Looking forward to your homestead journey.👍 I love watching Martiyn Doolard homestead journey and it's wonderful to find another in such a beautiful area. Thanks for sharing your journey.
Looks like it’s going to be a cool renovation, I’m definitely looking forward to following along 👍 Please consider activating subtitles to make our videos more accessible to disabled people; I have auditory processing disorder due to being Autistic so turning up the volume doesn’t always do the trick 😊
Really enjoyed watching natural environment running water,a dream dont know how much land you bought, looks plenty to live your dream, best wishes Devon UK.
So who is Travis? Are you staying nearby temporarily, full-time? How are you managing the logistics. Most of us can easily understand the escape from all the craziness that's going on in the Western World cities now.....rather to keep busy in nature and recreating what was so painstakingly built in the past.... That said it's a daunting pivot.. Some of us now to old, some too faraway, some just not talented enough... So yes, who is this Travis that is taking the leap? ♥️🇨🇦
I have just seen this video and I admire your courage, can I suggest that you turn the bucket off the excavator so it is scoping and not digging, point it into the doorway and load all the stones and spoil into it, I wish you all the very best
Hey Travis Just found your channel by chance. What a big project you have ahead of you, it will be exciting to see it come to life for all of us watching. It would however be nice to know what your vision is and maybe as an intro into the video if you can talk to us and explain what your plans are for the day and end with another exit chat. Having the text there is great especially for the deaf community but some talk with the text would be even better. Looking forward to seeing your stone house come to life.
Great to see Episode 2. The chainsaw noise sequences were horrifically loud but that’s only my personal opinion and not a criticism. I see 1887 carved in one of the blocks, that’s amazing and cool. Do the blocks rest on some kind of foundation or are they just built on soil up? A rake would be good for tackling them brambles in future - longer reach and will pull out more at a time. I have a feeling I will be watching your videos for years to come. Thank you
Hey yes built on a mix of stone and huge rock 🪨 boulders going deep down Beneath the ground the geotechnical report, states safe and can continue with out modern foundation but it has not yet been decided my end on that as yet I want to dig in the house area first before deciding ,ps I broke my damn rake on them brambles some are so thick Kind regards Travis
Hi. I was just wondering if what you’re doing was inspired by others like Martjin Doolard? I love watching his videos every Sunday and I’m enjoying yours as well!
Hey mainly because italy is where life is at affordable and I like enduro/trials riding perfect place for it also I enter 4x4 rally around the world italy is pretty close to northern africa with short drive to Genoa port to africa works good for me plus the culture of people are inspiring. I have started seeing a lot of yourtube channels they all fantastic, but I feel I'm chasing a different type of home to others. Kind regards, Travis
Recommend you get a chainsaw mill. It makes cutting slabs way easier. That was a really nice chestnut log too! I can see why you wanted it. Is that going to become a header somewhere in the house? Thanks for sharing your process.
@17:35 those that you are removing and sweeping are the stones ('lose' or 'piode', depending in which area of the Alps is situated) of the collapsed roof. The upper floor (which some remaining beams are srill visible) is generally made in wooden planks.
Travis, please keep your back as close to vertical when you are lifting large stones or anything else. Your legs have enough strength to elevate the object and they will save your back from irreparable damage... Nice work you are doing...
This looks very interesting. Do you live close to your new property? Do you have any sketches of what you want to do with the place? Take care and be careful.
This home had some of the largest stones I have seen. I have watched many videos of stone cabins being renovated and these are the largest stones. What were they used for as they fell from above ? This is interesting, I hope you can start making more videos soon to keep us informed.
Beautiful stone house! Good vlog composition. Thanks for sharing and good luck. Just a suggestion ... watch repetitive motions for your back. In this episode you were bending over and picking up rocks twice. If you put directly into bucket or wheel barrel, you would only bend over and pick up once. Rocks may be done, but please take care of your back. Colorado Cherri
What a beautiful place you have in the making. Yes, it's going to take lots of hard work, but the result will be something you can be proud of. BTW, I like your hat! Is that a piece of springbok hide on the crown?
@@TravisRowlands Fantastic! Yes, it is a magical place. I'm originally from the Western Cape, now in Oz, and I miss the old country every day. Good luck with your project, I'll be following it closely.

Good luck with the project :) looking forward to see it change do you plan to build a more decent road ? can you ? did Geometra speak EN ? did you need to apply for IT Tax id before the purchase ? You could do a vid on how you got there that would be super helpful. You could do a intro outro or short talks during the project to catch ppl on what are you planing doing etc :) How much you can change the house ?
