    What i don't get.. Why on earth don't you get the two nozzles closer to the workpiece?.. this will greatly improve flushing, and therefore improve performance of the water.. because you get the conducting metal particles out of the cutting area
    I worked professionally with a Brother HS 100, a similar sized machine.. but with the bottom nozzle Just under the metal.. and a "hydraulicly activated" telescope extension would be gently pushed against the part from beneath.. while the top nozzle could be lowered to be just above the workpiece as well.. that "little critter" cut like a dream.. made many parts on that one.. i wish i had a machine like that in my shop..

    How much would this cost. If you can machine parts by yourself. And other stuff you can do by hand too.

    Классно мне понравилось . Решение с перемоткой профессиональное. не вижу контроля обрыва проволоки и как заправляете проволоку при обрыве также контроль при обрыве программы возврат перемещения по программы на 0,2-0,5мм для MACH3 как вы решили?

    Thank you very much. I want to use arduino or arduino-compatible motherboard. Because my old mach3 program does not support usb port. I can also use the m2 motherboard from the Chinese co2 laser machine. Please recommend a more suitable motherboard with usb port support, which has available programming information.

    What type of tolerances can you get out of this machine?

    • @niemand1245
      @niemand1245  11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      hi 94XJ at the end of our year we had unfortunately not enough time to test out what capabilities our machine had but I can tell you that it is pretty accurate. I thought that this or next year there was someone from college who was going to make a little study about our machine so I will let it know in the discription if I hear something from my old school about the tolerances.

    what kind of wire do you use and is the wire that is run through destroyed and unusable, or is it a loop?

    • @opforind
      @opforind 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We had a Mitsubishi wire edm that didn’t even have a used wire spool. It just chopped the wire into pieces and dumped the bits straight in a chip bucket.

    Very interesting project. I want to try to build a similar one. How to calculate the feed rate for 1500 watt power 0.2-0.3 millimeter wire. And I want to cut a 1-1.5 millimeter brass sheet. Thanks in advance...

    Hi, I am a hobbiest and are interested to give it a go and build one of these machines for my home workshop. Where can I get the drawings and specs for this machine? info would be much appreciated. Thanks

    • @niemand1245
      @niemand1245  10 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi Lucas Jacobus Steyn there is a group on Yahoo 'Plasmaboog' where there are some people that are building their own wire edm machine they share experiences, tips and many more I think of you ask them you can get lots of info, drawings, sketches etc. the creator of that group was our external person who helped us alot during the project he builded 4 machines himself if you look in the description of the video there you can find his TH-cam channel than you can ask him personally for further information.

    great job. how long did the process take to make the "N"?

    • @niemand1245
      @niemand1245  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi adkharu thank you! Well the process of edm is actually really slow and because this isn't a professional machine it took us about 40 minutes. Professional machines can do it alot faster but our machine will do the job just as well ;)

    • @josepheirman4987
      @josepheirman4987 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      niemand1245 that sounds about right for a professional edm as well. most edms are so slow you cant see them move

    Rather than having the wire moving continuously in one direction when cutting, I wonder if you could have a solenoid oscillate the wire instead?

    • @isaacoshea6529
      @isaacoshea6529 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Michael Crumpton this wouldn't work as the wire moves to get a consistent cut. Not only that the wire erodes too. Think about it, one metal eroding another, the wire is bound to become eroded and would eventually snap as a result. An oscillating wire moving in linear motion would equally become eroded and would also eventually break.

    • @axeman2638
      @axeman2638 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Isaac Oshea , also the wire gets oxidised as you can see by the difference in colour of the wire between the new and used spools.

    Hello. My name is Tibi and i have the plans for building that machine. I tried to start construction but it is quite difficult to make it all. So my question if you consider to sell that machine . I intend to buy it . Please contact me for any ideea.
    Thank you again. Tibi

    • @niemand1245
      @niemand1245  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi tibi I'm afraid I can't decide to sell our wire edm it was a project for my previous school now they use it as a didactic machine for teaching other students about wire edm and computer controlled machine operations. But if you want to learn how to build it yourself I suggest you to search for the group Plasmaboog in Yahoo it's a group where other EDM builders share their experiences but you can also contact my school or our external person who helped us with the project the site from my old school and the youtube channel of the external person can be found in the description of the video.
