    For context just because I’m bored. What Gary was saying was when Julius blows past his dude on the line, The dude on his line is free to shoot up to the linebacker position full speed and smash Gary. While Julius will have an opportunity to increase his statistical line, he is “ leaving his teammates out to dry”.
    This is actually a very common and serious issue amongst defensive ends. Getting to the quarterback quickly is not always the priority.

  • @TomiAdewoleAdetom
    @TomiAdewoleAdetom 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Julius' acting here was elite, and Gary was also very convincing. Awesome movie - one of my favorites. Wish I could watch it tonight but these bills ain't gon pay themselves lol.

  • @SeraphimDragon
    @SeraphimDragon 3 ปีที่แล้ว +16

    Gerry, recognizes Julius' talents as a player but thinks he's got a bad attitude cause he's not putting the effort.
    Julius, recognizes Gerry just acknowledged him and told him how he truly felt. He paid that honesty in kind for why he didn't want to give his effort.
    Gerry, realizes he's got no right to come after Julius unless he goes after everybody for doing wrong, cause THAT is his job.
    That's growth for everyone. You can't motivate someone with pure spite, hate, or fear. You HAVE to own up and admit to where your faults are, on BOTH sides. Problem is when one side isn't willing to admit where they come up short or why they come up short, and just push the blame entirely on the other side, then everyone's always going to lose. Cut 'em out like Gerry cut Ray cause you're better off without those leeches.

    1:18 Reflects the employees across many organizations who are not valued for their skills, insights and contributions.
    When folks are doing good work that impacts the organization positively, and then they start seeing:
    1.) others take credit for their work
    2.) start seeing favoristism for other employees simply because the other employees are well liked or buddy-buddy/friendly with management
    3.) start seeing their input and insights undermined or dismissed
    Thats when good workers just say "F this" and start doing just enough to get through the day and collect a paycheck. In some cases, it is indeed a race thing, but in many cases, its a popularity contests full of cliques and groups much like you would see in High School.

    • @mymusic8414
      @mymusic8414 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Wish it was reflected where they make a deal. Play for the team but if no change then you see what you get.
    Copping a shit selfish attitude is never good. One should lead by example. If you’re doing the right things then confront the coach or captain and ask am I doing it right? Then ask what about others. If there is no change you many not like what you see.

      You realize it is fictional, right? The team had been integrated six years, long enough that by 1971 all the players on the team had entered the team when it was already integrated. Coach Yoast had hired Coach Boone two years before this movie after Boone was fired from another position. There was no big racial animosity to be overcome dividing the team or reflected in the city. Every team that they played that year was a racially integrated team. They weren't playing "all white schools". Gerry Bertier and Julius Campbell weren't close friends. Bertier played the whole season. The championship game wasn't even close. The Titans won in a blow out.
      In fact, the myth that the story tells was actually created by Richard Nixon. It was Richard Nixon who had first referenced the Titans in a speech as proof that we could have racial healing and unity. Of course, Nixon wasn't interested in the truth either. He just wanted a soundbite.
