Coach Yoast had already won a state Championship with this school prior to Coach Boone being hired. Awesome scene and awesome movie reminded me of my senior year I played for a small team in Illinois every year we got picked apart by a team called the East St. Louis Flyers. My senior year despite my schools history never beating them we did 29-27 this night. I scored 4 TDS that night including the game winner with no time left. 16 catches 4 TDS 199 receiving yards. Credit goes to the defense keeping us in. One 2nd half interception and a key fumble recovery to set up my winner. My friend I grew up with middle linebacker made the fumble recovery leaping between the QB and running back. His line 15 tackles 3 sacks and 4 pass defenses.

No he did not. he died in a car accident on march 20 1981. Gerry Bertier spent ten years after his accident with one goal: to make life for others with disabilities easier. His ambition was cut short on March 20, 1981. As Bertier was driving home from a business trip, a northbound car crossed over the center line on Route 20 in Charlottesville and struck Bertier's southbound 1980 Oldsmobile.[3] Bertier died nearly two hours later in the University of Virginia hospital. A man from Schulyer, Virginia was charged with manslaughter and driving under the influence of alcohol in connection with the accident.[

"I don't care if I go down with ya, but before God, I swear I'll see every last one of you thrown in jail"
The ref was quick to back off and call a fair game because having a thrown game in the media would cause an investigation which would lead to all involved (the refs and school board execs) being charged with fraud.
@@AdderTude yup. In the great state of Tennessee, God is second only to football.
Why would he go down with them?
@@myoldchannel0 because the men sitting in the bleachers had told him about it beforehand
Why thrown in jail??
This by far one of the best sports movies of all time,,, what a true classic.
The part where Bertier runs up to the coach of the other team and stares him down. Perfect.
Im from the UK and my youngest son plays semi professional soccer. They're undefeated in their league and Im starting to think about the prospect of them winning their league. Yes its soccer not AF, but this movie and particularly this scene, gives me chills everytime. It stirs up feelings of passion and glory. I had to revisit this scene to add more fuel to my desire for them
"What're you, s-? You tryin to cheat my boys out the game?"
"Let em play! Let the boys play...CHEATA!"
Denzel's acting is fucking superb!
I get Chills several times during this Movie! My Favorite MOVIE EVER! GOD BLESS
Coach: BLITZ ALL NIGHT!
Defense: *stops playing Madden and starts playing Mortal Kombat*
*FINISH THEM!!!*
This made me lol.. and I mean that too.
No way man I got some friends around that Illinois area near St. Louis. You know where Jerseyville is?
What fucking memories to have man!
My favorite scene! "You Blitz all night!" My dad just died and he said the same thing.
Shaundra Lee I'm sorry for your loss
JamesTriesPvPing Thanks a lot! He played the same position in high school and passed his love of football to me.
Play doh
Shaundra Lee condolences mam
His last words should’ve been Alexa play Deadpacito
We need more movies like this. Ones which demonstrate OVERCOMING OUR SHORTCOMINGS, ones that BRING US TOGETHER and MAKE US STRONGER. A damned fine movie. A damned fine AMERICAN movie!
you no man i do not no what we need to bring us all together & make us stronger but if it is more movies like this one i'm game & i'm not joking when i say we all need to stop fighting & come together as one not only for us but for the kids of american
This is the speech every defense needs to hear during a the Superbowl when their struggling.
Leave No Doubt!!
Words to live by.
Will Patton is such a great actor. He's known for his short, intense appearances but I wonder why he never gets bigger roles...
He has stated that he likes playing outsiders and loners.
He had a good part in Armageddon. Also, he played in a TV show about the CIA. They cancelled it after 9-11, maybe becuz it told too much of the truth. Will Patton is a good actor, IMO.
Check him out in "the postman" opposite of Kevin Costner. Some epic speeches and lines he delivers.
He's got a new large role in Yellowstone now.
this and armageddon he murdered it... as well as other roles but these two are the most embedded in my mind...
The editing .... 👌💪 it's just everything! I saw this in cinema 👍
HELL YEAH BUDDY HOORAH no matter how many times I watched this movie it never gets old
Love this part. It charges me every time. Luv how the team just screams. Totally intimidating. Next best part “you better make your self comfortable down there, real comfortable.”
Coaches speech is one of my favourite lines in any movie ever. Goosebumps galore
Just straight clothes lining those boys. lol
Ikr
Well, if they're gonna call a penalty anyway, might as well put em in the hospital.
Hitting someone in the chest and knocking them down is now clotheslining. You heard it first here folks.
@@enlightensean1598 can you explain what clotheslining is please =)
Yeah. I don't know much about football but I thought you were supposed to tackle low..
One of the most inspiring scenes in a movie, not just a sports movie. Great emotion!
pilotmacklroy This movie is a true story.
I know no doubt it added stuff didn't happen or changed stuff but still persons not influenced by racism and segregation overcoming those problems to be a elite high school football team that won a high school football championship with a Black Man as the head coach.
Add in persons choosing to be friends that are a different race.
That's why it's greater than Gladiator because it did happen the Legendary Titans high school football team, and shows solutions to real world problems that stll exist.
Gladiator while it has other separators from Action drama Revenge movies and is a terrific must see movie that is a action revenge drama didn't Happen.
The shame and pride he must have felt looking at his daughter was acted out perfectly.
To think of how Bertier treated Boone when they first met and then seeing Bertier say "that was for you Coach" is just 💖💖
I love it when cheaters fall short of their goal. Love it!!!!!!
Van PastorMan You probably hate the Patriots then.
That dramatic finger point at the opp coach is just so ridiculous it’s funny
"YOU BLITZ ALLLL NIGHT!"
Probably my favorite movie segment of any movie. Fantastic!
Makes me wonder if any of those kids that played on the opposing team ever forgot the night they played The Titans. Lol
One of the greatest scenes in not just in sports movies history but in movie history period! It sends chills up my spine too every time that I see the famous scene with Will Patton.
When he gives the speech to the defense i got shivers down my spine
I will NEVER tire of this scene. The world is built on the backs of men who get asked to do impossible shit, look at the people who will help them do it and nod.
Chills when Coach Yoast says, "I don't want them to gain another yard!!!"
"Run it up Herman...Leave no doubt"!!!...That wry grin from Denzel was epic
Make Sure, they REMEMBER the Night, they Played the TITANS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This part of the movie made me shed tears because he looked back at his daughter and realized he was letter her down too!! And he came out with the strategy to blitz all night 😭😭
I love how much she loves football... That's how hyped passion is 💯
i still t this dont dont get what he told the reff. ill go to the papers what?
@@2000rayc He threatens to expose the racism and the corruption in the high school sports sacrificing his place in the local Hall of Fame
Top 5 of all time right here, baby! I get the chills every damn time.
"STRONG SIDE!"
you don't fuck with Gerry Bertier
he's a future Son of Anarchy
Except...ya know...his accident
Pajama Sam
yes but that accident showed his true power, he went on to compete in paralympics if i am not mistaken. And he won many medals there.
Peter Schön
yeah, but then he got killed in prison.
A man from Schulyer, Virginia was charged with manslaughter and driving under the influence of alcohol in connection with the accident.[
i was talking about the guy that is playing him on SOA :)
i watched this movie quite a few times in high school, and then forgot about it for a few years.
I was once on an undefeated football team, A moment I’ll never forget. When a team can function as one unit, priceless!
I was once upon a time, a completely defeated football team. A moment I'll never forget. When a team can dysfunction with precision it's priceless!
@@roseanneroseannadanna9651 Lmao this hurts because we went 1-9 my senior year.
@@MalGK24you think that’s bad my highschool won 5 games in 4 years.
@@Mikefrank333 Got damn that had to be brutal.
“You outta make yourself comfortable down there. Real comfortable.” 🔥🔥🔥🔥
love that look look Herman gives Yoast as if he had never seen this side of him before he looks like he is thinking "Wow somebody pissed him off and I like it."
I love the sound effects... the hits sound more like car doors opening (and closing) than foot ball.
This is one iconic scene. Sends shivers down my spine every time i watched it. And it still does to This day.
Fucking amazing 👊🏻
Easily one of the best scenes in sports movie history. I will not argue.
CHILLS.
Remember The Concussions
Ah, concussions. Exactly the reason I quit playing football.
