This guy is my favourite saw player in the world! My objective as a player is to get to his level... too bad we can't find much information about him on the internet...
I am a musician, and not easily impressed. But I thought this performance was absolutely beautiful. Each time I listen to it I am left with tears in my eyes. Bravo!
I will second you on this Brian Kelley. I find it most hauntingly touching, in fact, it is probably the most healing music I have ever felt in my left . . and this is what happens . . heck, lets twitter , tweet and text it round this world. . . wow, yes, crying like a baby . . maybe we can even melt Putin's heart of stone. .
This best use of the musical saw I have ever heard. Quite sublime. Before this video, I always hated hearing someone play the alleged instrument. Hear it too often in the MTA subway stations of NYC.
If you listen carefully, there are a few rough sounds produced by the saw that sounds like croaking / cricket sounds. the saw instrument really suits the song coz it makes u feel like ur listening to it in the moonlight out on the field or on ur rooftop while gazing at the stars...
one is used on In The Aeroplane Over The Sea played by Julian Koster. I think he plays it on a bunch of other Elephant 6 bands. it's been used in of Montreal songs as well.
I'm in love with this guy and his music - many saw players make the most dreadful noises, it sounds like they're killing cats! This, on the other hand, is real music. It's amazing.
I wonder how he gets so few of this scratching violin-like sound... Because, aside from being nearly perfectly in tune, it's one the things that realy sets him apart from other saw players... By the way, this is really a wonder of a video.
That is a very interesting bow. Can someone identify what type of bow that is for? At first I thought it might be an erhu bow, but it's not. Is it the bow for a type of Japanese instrument?
Based on the handle, it appears to be a 28 in. Charlie Blacklock Special; although his is beautifully engraved. The Blacklock handle style is unique among musical saws, I'd start looking there...what really impressed me is his custom bow. Incredible.
marcos segon Now I’m just imagining someone playing a saw while violently making bad saw jokes like, “Bet you never SAW that coming!” And “I may not be the sharpest tool in the shed but I sure can play it!”
*Daaaang. Homeboy is playing with such emotion... It feels like that saw broke his heart, stole his dog and ran off with his best friend- but he still loves it anyway!!*
ギコギコした感じの音で演奏するのかなと思ったらまさかの!!
キレイ…。
It is a beautiful sound. My dad used to play the saw for our church.
Merry Joy he saw the light
First time I have heard someone who could actually play a whole song in tune on musical saw.
amazing i never SAW that coming
that was a quality comment
Boo!
Please can this man play All Star so that it's played on the sharpest tool in the shed
Wally PW Merry Christmas th-cam.com/video/FwHmgFgm_fc/w-d-xo.html it’s not the same guy but it counts
Well, actually the dulliest saw sings the best, so look for a dull and sloppy one and take off the teeth and you have ti!
I've never seen someone play a saw with that much feeling.
"I see", said the blind carpenter -- and he picked up his hammer...and saw!
Very excellent pitch control and vibrato. Definitely the best saw playing I've heard.
Never has the term "singing saw" been more appropriate then this. One of the most beautiful saw playing I've ever heard!

Mesmerizing.....I've watched this video several times and can't get enough.

妖怪人間ベムで初めて聴きました。
きれいな音色ですね。
Breathtaking! Bravo! Gotta look for his CDs now!

Hauntingly Beautiful!
I was happy to hear them in real. That was real musical experience. Thank you for coming to Estonia :)
Love that sound.
Fantastic whistle like tone.
"Another" saw from "Another Earth" brought me here. This is beautiful..
Monsieur Sakita vous jouez à ravir et c'est un pur bonheur de vous écouter !....
Merci à vous
I think it would sound better if the guitar was classical. The acoustic is fine, but the was is, well, soft, and the acoustic is quite sharp
The sharp tone I feel complemented the saw playing.
is this a soprano or an alto musical saw?
I guess it's soprano.
Every time I try to play high notes of this song on my wentworth musical saw I got frustrate... :|
i would love to see this live

i am absolutely fascinated by this.
absolutely brilliant!!
VERY BEAUTIFUL!
Wow! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 I have wanted to learn for some time.
Fascinating, but rather bizarre!
Interesting talent!!!
so beautiful
A truly artistic performance.
I just want to know where he got his pants. it must have been the same place he got those wicked saw chops.
I'm in love with this guy and his music - many saw players make the most dreadful noises, it sounds like they're killing cats! This, on the other hand, is real music. It's amazing.
epilogue18. They cut those saw teeth only they don't accidentally hurt or it has a direct involvement on the sound they produce?
Thanks!
I wonder how he gets so few of this scratching violin-like sound... Because, aside from being nearly perfectly in tune, it's one the things that realy sets him apart from other saw players...

That reaches in and touches your very soul, beautiful.
Can someone translate the conversation afterwards?
I love it!
I want to ask to Hajima Sakita if you can send me information about the origin and history of the Musical Saw in Japan. Thank you, very much.
Beautiful. Sounds almost like a Theramin.
@NoirOrchestre I think it's 4 octaves above middle C.
What is the name of the performance I just saw?
Quelle merveille! un vrai bonheur à écouter!
I want to learn this.

... ... no words... ... are coming ...
+Eric Mishima hahahaha you had me spit my food out haha
It's the name of the song, named after the infamous sawist, Viola Blacklock.
is there any actual songs or CDs that have this kind of musical saw, instead of the overly wavery sound?
Could someone tell me what is the exact range (tessitura) of the musical saw please ?
@yugen852 I don't understand neither, but what a pleasant language to listen to.
What is that bow?!
NICE.. I think a band called BOOMSLANG from maine used it quite well in a song WHORANG in A Minor,,,, from cd,, A Constant Struggle
Does anyone know which brand/ model musical saw Sakita is using here? Thanks.
Based on the handle, it appears to be a 28 in. Charlie Blacklock Special; although his is beautifully engraved. The Blacklock handle style is unique among musical saws, I'd start looking there...what really impressed me is his custom bow. Incredible.
いい音ですよね。サキタさんの演奏は奥村愛さんなんかと一緒に堺でやった音楽会で聴いたことあります。サキタさん堺出身で、しゃべりも面白かった。
Excellent!
Music Teacher: Alright show me what can you do
Me:
Also me: *makes horrifying saw puns*
marcos segon Now I’m just imagining someone playing a saw while violently making bad saw jokes like, “Bet you never SAW that coming!” And “I may not be the sharpest tool in the shed but I sure can play it!”
The saw.
Cuts through wood and sounds vaguely like a beautiful woman's singing voice.
hes cuuuuuuuute.
What song was that that he played?
This song is called "Viola", named after an American old lady.
Appreciate. You've been really helpful
awesome!! so awesome im gonna cry!!!
Although the music is brilliant, i'm worried by the musician.
The face says man, while the legs say woman... WHICH ARE THEY?
What kind of bow is he using? I thought that usually a bass or cello bow was used for musical saws, but that looks so specialized.
His bow is crazy!!!!
Простая пила,а звук Космоса,Браво!!! Попробую в своих ,,ПЕСНИ КОПЕЦА"(если успею)
What is this song.
Viola, it's his original composition
anyone know what kind of saw he uses?
Assessment Fail - Viola?
Beautiful playing. I want to get a saw! 5 stars.
Natalia Paruz story of the saw and everything is so inspiring
@matthewcross viola is the name of the song. . .he composed it :)))))))))
Play this song while they lower me 6 feet.
What type of bow is he using?
*Daaaang. Homeboy is playing with such emotion... It feels like that saw broke his heart, stole his dog and ran off with his best friend- but he still loves it anyway!!*
awesome!!!
ギコギコはしません
一度弦が入ってしまえば
ヒュゥウウウウ
割とすき
A-m-a-z-i-n-g.
Wasn't Austin first to do this?

Music for the end of time
Great!

Actually, the name of the song is Viola, believe it or not.
That is crazy...

it sounds like whistling
Someone should try this tune on theramin.
SO. AMAZING. *scuttles off to stalk him*

Even though i can't understand them, the Japanese are such gentlemen.
口笛とか手笛みたいな音する!
良い音色ですね♪
すごい音ですね♪
刑事コロンボのテーマもこの楽器かな?
more beautiful than the violin
Yup, but with a cleaner sound.
The only saw I saw was the saw I saw with.
