    They are great. Just don't drill them or they will rust. Still going strong!

    I love small vehicles. I had a Suzuki Samurai back in the day. Now I have a Scion IQ.

    Please spray the underneath of the Hijet, particularly the frame inside and out, with Surface Shield or another lanolin based anti-corrosion coating before driving on salted roads. These are tough little trucks, but the frames rust quickly when sprayed with road brine.
    I recently imported a 1996 4WD Hijet (no dump, no diff lock) and it's awesome. The clutch was blown when I bought it and it took 6 weeks to get all of the parts I wanted (including the pilot bearing and rear main oil seal) to fix it. Those parts arrive tomorrow. Can't wait to start driving the Hijet. Spring will be here soon and I can start the upgrades, including a Monstaliner bed liner "paint" job inside and out, 2" lift, new tires, double DIN ATOTO Android stereo with backup camera, etc. I have a restoration thread on the Mini Truck Talk forum describing all that I'm doing for this project. Thanks for the part links.

      Really good points about undercoating. Fortunately in WA where I live, they will not use salt on roads, ever, so we don't deal with this issue. Your Hijet sounds like it's going to be quite the beast. I'm sure you'll love it.

      @@rollindirty2666 - It's great that the roads aren't salted where you are. I'm on the southern end of the rusty car belt. I drove 75 miles north to Cincinnati Ohio and looked at a dozen used 4Runners in one day. All of them had terrible frame corrosion. They must salt the heck out of their roads. I didn't look at any other aspect of the 4Runners. I'd arrive at a used car lot, walk over to a 4Runner, poke the frame that had been recently spray painted black with my finger and large chunks of rust and black paint would fall off onto the car lot. Those 4Runners all had stage IV car cancer and only had another year to live. I'll probably avoid driving my Hijet on salted roads (only a few days per winter around here) and I'll still spray the frame with Surface Shield just in case.

      Yes. It's no mystery to me that the minitruck video draws in more views. Far more interest in minitrucks than EUCs. :)

    Love this video, thanks, happy to see this truck driving on the snow.
    What brand tires and the size are you running?
    Can you give us or do another video on the light bar and roof rack and how you installed it?
    You said your version is a dump, does it go straight up in the air as well or only dumps?
    What camera and stick were you using while driving?
    Sorry for all the questions, I’m just considering one of these trucks

      I'm happy to answer your questions.
      Tires: Sun F 22x10-12 and 22x7-12 quad atv tires (amzn.to/3C7xENk) I use these because they carry more weight and don't require cutting part of the door off to keep from rubbing. They fit perfectly. Wheels: are OMF beadlock wheels I bought on eBay.
      Light bar: amzn.to/3I9ZI6m Perfect width for the cap. I made the brackets that mount it to the roof rack.
      Roof rack: Don't remember... but it is a generic rack that is normally oriented 90 degrees off my mounting.
      Cross bars: Generic and adjustable. They mount to the rain gutters.
      Dump: normal style dump, not the scissor lift style.
      Camera: Insta 360x3

      Do you have any more specifics on the wheels? Trying to find a set for my hijet and with the weird lug spacing and off set I’ve been unable to pull the trigger on online stuff and local tire shops don’t want to touch it.

    Cool truck what year is it? Did you get it from Japan?

    • @rollindirty2666
      @rollindirty2666  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      its a 1992. I imported it from Japan directly. However, would purchase locally if I had to do it again. The Port of Tacoma is run by mafia.

    • @Liberty4Ever
      @Liberty4Ever ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rollindirty2666 - I read an online rumor that the Tacoma port is no longer allowing informal entries and requires an import broker for all mini trucks. I hired a great TWIC escort (Crown TWIC Escorts and had a very easy process at the Newport News Marine Terminal. I deliberately chose NNMT even though the much larger port in Baltimore was slightly closer to me. I'd seen The Wire, and they described some corrupt union activities at the port in Baltimore.
