Professor X and Magneto were created and emblematic of Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X, both fighting for the same struggle, but from radically different mindsets.
If history has revealed anything, Magneto/MalcomX was right!

Stan Lee has said this in many interviews.
But I would add this caveat Malcolm X was a separatist and not a supremacist. He never called for the destruction of any people. He simply felt that Black people should be self sufficient and not take a non violent response when being attacked.

Oh man, Hugh Jackman looks so puny in this movie compared to where he takes his body from here on out.
Sir Patrick Stewart who plays Professor X has done a lot of sci-fi/fantasy franchises.
In the early 1980’s he played
King Arthur’s father in law in Excalibur.
In 1984, he played Gurney Halleck in the first big screen adaptation of Dune. The Halleck character was later played by Josh Brolin in the 2021 adaptation.
Prior to X-Men, Sir Patrick was internationally known as Captain Jean-Luc Picard on Star Trek: The Next Generation. For years whenever people mentioned casting an X-Men movie he was always the first choice for Professor X.
Just this year 2023, he finished a three year series stint reprising that character in Star Trek: Picard. It was a hoot to see Admiral Picard and his crew save the galaxy one last time.
If I see Patrick Stewart in something I go ahead and watch.
not sure if anyone mentioned this, there is a comic story line where Storm married T'Challa and became the Queen of Wakanda..not a bad read. Great reaction, bro! also, Rogue is the girl with white highlights on your shirt.

xavier and magneto started the original group of mutant kids together but magneto's war experience as a child doesn't allow him to trust humans because he can see history repeating itself. But on the flip side xavier is too trusting in humans. In the comics scarlett witch wanda from the avengers is magneto's daughter but the avenger movies altered the story

Im the comics, Black Panther was married to Storm, and Magneto is the father of both Scarlett Witch and Quicksilver.
Magneto is my favorite anti-villain of all time. And Professor X is great. All in all a great cast of characters.
My favorite Magneto line is from the 90s cartoon. I’m paraphrasing but he says to Charles “You want to make peace with the humans?”. “They can’t even make peace with themselves”.
If you really wanna get to know the X-Men without reading like 40 years of comics is the cartoons and animated series. All of them are cool and give a much better example of the X-Men before the 2000s when they were peak awesomeness : D
Sabretootb and wolverine are brothers, professor X and Juggernaut are brothers. Juggernaut was in Deadpool 2
Also the woman in the upper corner of your shirt is Rogue. Initially a villain and adopted daughter of Mystique. In the comics she gained her super strength, flight and nearly indestructible abilities from over absorbing Ms. Marvel-Carol Danvers powers. In this X-Men movie she is Marie who later takes the code name Rogue.
Here's the thing. Even though X-Men, Spiderman, The Fantastic Four and others are all part of the Marvel comics, prior to the MCU Marvel sold the rights to these properties to other film companies for a certain amount of time.
Sony eventually agreed to collaborate with Marvel and Disney bought companies that have the right to most of the othets so now Marvel can use them again.
interesting note: the actor who played Toad (Ray Park) also played Darth Maul in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace.

Wolverine feels everything cause his skin never can develop calusis so his skin is always so tender but he's used to most pain but serious injuries do take longer to heal, he has heeled from 1 cell, his bones inside the antimanium are bones, and the antimanium adds 100 pounds to him
Rogue is very powerful. The film's barely expand on that. She put Carol Danvers/Capt Marvel in a coma and stole her ability to fly. It was wild. I wish we'd get that story.

Magneto is not really a villain. He just has a different method than Professor X and the X-Men. Mystique and Magneto are pretty dope. Magneto is by any means necessary (Malcolm X) and the professor is by peace (Martin Luther King) Same cause, different method of getting it done
X-Men: First Class is the story of Xavier and Magneto. It is also the origin story of the X-Men
Halle Berry was one of my first crushes as well. Fell head over heels for her in the live action Flintstones movie.
16:04, the one thing I didn’t like about the Fox X-Men movies is they screwed up timelines and relationships.
For example, in the comics Bobby aka Iceman was one of the original X-Men along with Scott and Jean. He was not one of their students. There are two other members of that original squad who will get shown in later movies.
Storm, Wolverine and a couple of characters shown in later movies were the second X-Men squad. They were specifically recruited by Professor X to rescue the first X-Men team.
Storm is seriously downplayed as a hand to hand combatant and forceful person in these movies. In the comics, she was so good with her hands (and knives) she fought off a woman who was like a female version of Wolverine without using her weather powers. Also when the X-Men roster got too big, Professor X split the team in two and gave Storm leadership of her own team alongside Cyclops.
In the comics, Mystique is Rogue’s adopted mother. So there is no way she would be in on a plot that would require Rogue to be hurt. Mystique is also the biological mother of a certain blue skinned character who shows up in the next movie. Finally Mystique and her wife ran their own squad of mutants without input from Magneto.
Also in the comics, Rogue accidentally steals the powers of Ms. Marvel (aka Captain Marvel) permanently. So she can fly, has super strength and is invulnerable to an extent.
Hopefully when the MCU reboots this franchise they were restore the original relationships.
Keep up the great work can’t wait to see the rest of the series. Keep in mind this is pre-MCU, but there are still end credit scenes. Hopefully you enjoy it and you should react to them all. there is one or two movies in the series with a special edition or extended edition, and when you get to those make sure to check out the special or extended edition, over the original
They cut the story out several times
Cain Marko is the half or step brother is Charles(chuck) Xavier. Unlike Charles who was born with telepathy,tele-kinesis amongst other "Intuitive" insight abilities, his brothers dormant gene didnt activate until he ran across a "mystical gem" during his travels in Egypt. He became an enraged "Juggernaut" where if he touched or threw you the "energy goes from himself to you with enough force to send you flying away" regardless of your ability. He wears a similar Helmet as the one magneto has to protect himself from Psychic blast(but its been seen with enough will power he can overcome someone trying to pin him with mental blocks)
The two series where hes recognized as the relative of charles is in X men evolution animated and the Original Tv series that came out in the 80-90s cartoon.
Juggernaut isn't a mutant. He doesn't have a dormant gene

Wolverine has more than 1 mutation the healing factor his skeleton without the antimanium has bone claws, and he can remember every smell he's ever smelt, throw in 200 years of combat training and goverment experiments he is wolverine
So happy to see you start the X-men movies. These were the first comic book characters I ever learned about in the 80's when I was a kid. I have eye problems and couldn't see well enough to read the stories but my best friend at the time was WAY into them so he basically tutored me in names and abilities. I was stoked when I learned they were making the movies. Jennifer Lawrence from Thr Hunger Games takes over the role of Mystique in the later X-Men movies, starting with X-Men First Class.
Deadpool's abilities come from Wolverine! The people who experimented on Wade were trying to replicate Logan's powers^ so it's Deadpool who is like Wolverine! Loved your reaction!!!
wolverines and other mutants(they harvested Wolverines,Gambits,Emma Frost(her sisters powers) than skin grated them to Wades genetic make up..
Colonel William Striker along with the father of Oroko(Lady Deathrikes) to create the perfect "Compliant" Super Soldier. X2, X were of many versions of Wolverine..
Sabertooth wanted the Adamanium/Vibranium minerals for himself to be stronger than wolverine after he completed his later mission(But Strike warned him,since mentality Sabertooth did not have a "Natural Willingness to Fight for Someone else other than himself" he would not survive the experiment) so he tried to take the metal from Wolverine if if he meant killing his own brother Jimmy "James" Howellet
At the time this movie came out, a lot of fans (including me) were mad about how Storm got cast. We wanted Angela Bassett.
Magneto wears a special helmet that blocks telepathy. He also altered the Earth's magnetic field in such a way that reduces the range of all telepathic powers on Earth. Yes, he is crazy powerful.
I love these movies, but they do not give Scott a proper portrayal. In the comics, he rivals Captain America for leadership and he's arguably a better strategist. He has plans in plans, and is always a step ahead. One of my favorite quotes from him: someone asks him if they're moving to plan B, and he says, "No. Plan 2. "Plan B" suggests I only have 26 plans." My man is cold. And he his love life with Jean Grey and Emma Frost? You gotta read some of the comics.
Totally agree. In the comics, the relationship between Scott, Jean and Logan is much more respectful. In the field Wolverine follows Scott’s lead without question.
Even at the time of publication back in the start up days with Stan lee and Jack Kirby: Storm was not only one of the power members of the X men(shes also one the bravest and one of the insecure as well)
You have to look at the time when this all happened: she was a young african american not black american(Blade is British from the Uk,lets not jump too far ahead here 😅) was orphan who grew up and taken under a mutant known as tge ShadowMan(i dont know hes exact name) but from my understanding he was a very powerful psychic mutant who manipluated alot of young,and young adults into his guild(from stealing,to killing if necessary) Xavier caught wind this through Cerebro,not only rescued her but defeated the ShadowMan as well..
But as i stated with Storm(it was a double edge sword for her) she was of color,white hair,blue eyes,a woman and a mutant. She had alot of legit reasons to be afraid of mutant registration act and other laws against herself and other individuals as well..

22:40...you totally nailed it, man. Xavier, Magneto...they're the product of the worlds they grew up in: Xavier had a positive and supportive life, while Magneto went through the Holocaust.
The comic came out in the 60s, and Stan Lee deliberately wrote mutants as a stand in for minorities: black folks, hispanics, gays. And Xavier was modelled on Martin Luther King, Jr. where Magneto was Malcom X.
One thing I dig about the X-Men films is that they're a little more socially conscious than most comic book movies: there's a moral message here and that's awesome.

In the comics, Magnito pulls all of the metal out of Wolverine's body through his skin. That was a cool issue.
do yourself a favor and watch the X-Men 90s cartoon, the one from your t-shirt. I used to hurry home from school everyday to watch the cartoon. The X-Men are so dope. The girl who was kissing the boy in the beginning is Rogue. She's the one on your shirt dressed in green & yellow with the white strip of hair. She's way cooler in the show and comics and a personal favorite of mine
Magneto is one of the best villains ever.
His goals are noble. He wants to prevent genocide. This makes him someone you can sympathize with. It also makes him terrifying. What moral corners would you be willing to cut if you believed you were preventing genocide? He is willing to do terrifying things, and he cannot be talked out of what he is doing. Most of all, his criticisms of humanity are often painfully accurate. Long after you've put the comic book down, you have to admit that he's probably right about us. Humanity really are the monsters he says we are.
While this movie seems iffy now, for the time it came out, this really raised the bar for comic book movies.
In the comic books, Xavier and Magneto met in a hospital that treated Holocaust survivors. After that, they hunted Nazis together, forming the basis for their friendship.
The movies follow a different path, but the short version of their story is that they saved each other's lives multiple times and really care about each other, but cannot agree on the best way to prevent genocide. Each believes the other is going to make genocide more likely, so their followers battle each other even though they care deeply about each other.
32:01, Scott aka Cyclops doesn't get his proper due in this movie. He is literally like the Captain America of the mutant community. Whenever, Professor X isn't around everyone even Wolverine follows his lead. Also his optic blasts can punch holes through mountains.

Another fun fact in the comics Loki gives Storm a Asgardian Hammer like Mjolnir but he was trying to corrupt her and it started to make her unstable

Sabertooth is one of the most brutal killing machines in marvel, he like wolverine has healing factor can't be killed so just goes on homicidal rages weekly, not much the goverment can do about it

The first X-Men Trilogy (along with the Blade trilogy) all came out before the MCU started. Also two Fantastic Four movies. But they helped pave the way for the MCU. Also at that time, X-Men was produced by Fox, instead of Disney (current Marvel). It would be a good idea to watch the X-Men (both Trilogies) and then do a re-watch of both Deadpool movies. A lot of inside jokes there. Also the X-Men series isn't the most consistent with it's continuity, so just enjoy them and don't over-think them. 🙂

Mangneto creates and control magnetic fields (including electromagnetism)- that is why Magneto said to cyclops "I thought you lived at a school" - storms lightning wouldnt hurt him, it would pehaps empower him even more.. so cool XD

The Statue of Liberty is made of copper. Copper is used throughout the word in electrical wiring. So if Storm sent a lightning bolt to hit Magneto it would have fried all of them as well.
Not so sure if lightning doesn’t affect Magneto.

Honestly, i just found your channel with your into the spideverse reaction and plus this reaction you mightve just conviced me of watching ur MCU reactions.
I always recommend other reactors after ENDGAME/Phase 3 to take a breath of the MCU and go and watch the other Marvel stuff like the Spiderman movies and X-Men (hell, you might even watch the Fantastic Four and Blade movies since ur already caught up with the Spidermans, i think). You comeback missing the MCU with WandaVision, kinda like we all did with the pandemic (even tho Wandavision is a whole another thing, you'll see).
Sure gonna be expecting those reactions... and next ones too
When this movie came out, Marvel only made comic books. So to get into movies, they licensed out their characters to existing movie studios. 20 Century Fox got X-men, Sony got Spider-man, Universal got The Incredible Hulk.
When the MCU came out (and then were acquired by Disney), they couldn't use X-Men or Spider-man. Spider-man ended up in the MCU, but only because they made a deal with Sony. Disney bought 20th Century Fox recently and they have started using X-Men in the MCU. But for right now, every X-men movie you see will only have X-men characters in it.

Fun fact in the comics storm met t’challa when the were kids and as adults got married for five years.. but there was an event that caused Xmen vs avengers and they were on opposite teams and they get divorced…
Bryan Singer does continue directing some of these movies, but...don't google him. He had quite the history of preying on young men who were in the film industry, including on his movies.
Also, even though these are "Marvel," they are not part of the MCU. We'll be seeing Hugh Jackman in Deadpool 3, which will be an MCU movie, but it's best to think of this like the other Spider-Man movies - not in the MCU, but could appear due to multiverse shenanigans.

They get better as they go on. I grew up on the comic books, and loved the short lived cartoon rhat came out in '92, and when this came out I was so hyped.

"She's like Thor!.." Dude, Storm would put Thor to shame in a one-on-one. She's considered an Omega Level Mutant (One's whose power has no defined upper limit). She is capable to controlling solar storms in space which instantly makes her a threat to all mankind if she was ever to be compromised.

Im in the intro i already know I'm going to have to explain a few characters, without spoilers rogue better have a huge part in the new captain marvel movie
Because of a childhood head injury, Scott Summers (Cyclops) cannot turn his power off. Without those glasses, he will destroy anything he looks at. This is why he's so cold. He is obsessed with self-control because he spent most of his teen years with his eyes shut tight. Eventually, Xavier found him and figured out that ruby quartz can stop those eye beans. Because of his teen years, Scott knows how to navigate the world like a blind man.
Steve Rogers is the greatest tactician in Marvel comics. T'Challa is the greatest strategist. Scott is somewhere in between Rogers and T'Challa. A lot of X-Men don't like him because of his cold demeanor, but everyone trusts his tactical calls.
So the story goes, as an extra in this movie, the man was just standing nearby when the director spotted him and said, uh. You’re playing Sabertooth.
Colossus (giant silver russian dude) is 9in both Deadpool movies, that's probably the biggest crossover X-men did with the rest of Marvel.

This one is middle of the pack when it comes to xmen movies. X2 is terrific, so looking forward to your reaction to that. Xmen was only acquired for film/tv by Marvel relatively recently, so look for Deadpool 3 to initiate the Xmen getting incorporated into the Marvel stuff. I predict that it'll grow from there.
Kind of shows their (Prof. X & Magneto) earlier relationship in X-men: First Class and Days of future Past. Magneto is my fav! His helmet protects his mind from telepathic attacks. Sabretooth is way scarier in the comic books. Im glad you’re enjoying, you should get into the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit movies also if you didn’t already.

The reason you haven’t seen the X-Men in the MCU (yet) is in the mid 90s Marvel Comics was in a financial crisis and the comics industry was crashing due to oversupply. This was the start of the “collectible era” where every casual comic fan thought that they’d buy a couple of #1 issues and send their kids to college on it. Comic book companies reprinted old comics or new issue #1s with so many variant covers it was ridiculous.
Anyway, to help ease this financial struggle Marvel sold off the rights to some of its IP (Intellectual Property). Sony/Paramount bought Spider-Man, the reason there’s 2 sets of movies before he joins the MCU and 20th Century Fox bought X-Men and Fantastic Four. Disney has since bought Marvel and 20thCF which is why they can be watched on Disney+. Sony decided to run with Disney Marvel instead of against it which how the current version is in the MCU but Sony still owns distribution rights and Homecoming, Far from Home etc… are not on Disney+. Sorry if I stretched this out but hopefully it makes sense.

I believe Magneto thought that Senator Kelly didn’t die but evolved into a different type of lifeform. Plus his intent was to mutate the world leaders not kill them.
So that is why he wasn’t so ready to believe Kelly died.
You gotta finish the series! We learned to accept this Storm because it was Ms. Berry! She grew on us! X2 is WAY better! 😊
Storm has the wackest lines in all these movies……she and Cylcops are the leaders of the team and they were both sidelined for Wolverine.

A lot of great movies in the XMen franchise. You're gonna have a fun ride. Unfortunately XMen movies don't fit in the MCU because Fox owned the rights until very recently. Disney does now own XMen though. A couple XMen characters did find their way into the MCU in Age of Ultron, but they had to be reconceptualized since Fox owned "mutants". It's all very weird.
From my recollection the Marvel end credits started with Ironman and the "MCU".

before the MCU, Marvel´s most important characters were Spider-Man and the X-Men. Avengers are below the X-Men in the Comics
In sales for sure they were selling like crazy in the 1980’s and 1990’s.
But from an in comics world perspective, the Avengers are considered the premier superhero team. They are like the Justice League of Marvel.
Spider-Man is considered just a pesky guy who fights lower level villains in New York. But to many New Yorkers he is considered a hometown hero.
The X-Men though bad ass are considered outliers and treated with suspicion by the public. But if it is a world ending event they will step up and fight alongside the Avengers and the Fantastic Four.
